Base model 118 TSI has all we need
Just bought a S/H 2014 base model 118 TSI. With 50,000km, only the reverse camera option, this CUV seems to have been well looked after by previous owner! Easy to drive, plenty of power when needed and enough storage for what we need. Hopefully wont have to spend much more with capped servicing over next couple of years.

WATER PUMP FAILURE
VW TIGUAN. Loss of coolant symptom of water pump problems. Water pump failed at 45,000kms. VW considers this fair wear and tear. Not an unusual problem with VW product, it seems. Very expensive to replace. VW totally disinterested and very highhanded. VW insists only VW mechanic can accurately identify problem - all other certified mechanics cannot be relied upon for accurate diagnosis. Beware.

perfect car so far
very good car so far
been driving to work usually.
occasional trips with steep roads and the car managed really nicely.
spacious inside and trunk, plenty of room for a family.
fuel cost around 9-10L/100km
only downside is because my car is built in 2015, navigation is still old on screen rather than new apple carplay.

Fantastic Purchase
Love my new Tiguan, Turbo Charge and Supercharged, 2016 Model but 2015 built. 118TSI First Brand New car I have purchased... With Carplay easily connect my iPhone to my Tiguan with no worries. The only down side is that it would cost an extra $800 to purchase the product key to use VW's voice control in its software, however Siri does it all for free...Drive fantastic, Performance is great I get around 700KM out of a full tank. Services are expensive but normally you can negotiate these for find an authorised mechanic to do it cheaper.

Very Good SUV
I have an MY15 118tsi DSG auto with the rear camera update. I have only done 20,000 kms but its been fault free. VW just need to recalibrate the auto to allow better take off as the DSG is geared for economy and sometimes it changes up too early and gets bogged down due to Tiguans high kerb weight. But generally it's smooth, powerful (if you use the "S" mode) and reasonably economical. Tyres are fantastic in the wear and driveability department (Bridgestone Dueler H/P)
Brakes are strong and half a turn on the key, hot or cold, it's starts perf...Read more

New car - fluttering noise
The performance is good but disappointed with the fluttering noise from the engine. Jerky auto on/off function. Too noisy.
After only 3,000 kms and spending over $30,000, I expected to own the car I test drove - silent.. Drove other 118TSIs which were fairly smooth. Foreman accompanied me to hear the noise I complained about but denied its noisy.
Booked in for an overview. Hopefully they find something.

New engine for Tiguan at 60 000km
Bought a Tiguan 1.4 TSI in 2010. Was very happy with it, up until last month when it suddenly lost power with no warning. The VW roadside assistance was fantastic. However the vehicle needed a new engine. Since then I've had problems. First the clutch, then a petrol leak, now a knocking noise in the rear.

And you gave it 3 stars? How bad does it have to get for 1 star?

Elegant Tall riding Comfort
2 months since purchased, just enjoy driving the 118tsi. Powerful, Roomy & comfortable drive.
Don't regret the choice over Dualis, ASX or CX5. Impressed with the Bluemotion start/stop technology. The fuel efficiency is much closer to what is claimed by VW. pleasure to drive on a freeway or city. Boot space is a small niggle

I had the same feeling the first couple of months with my 2010 Tiguan 2.0TDi. I have the car for just 2 years and have done just a little over 50,000kms and this vehicle has been towed back to the dea... Read more
lership 3 times. First time was for a faulty fuel sender sensor, second time was for faulty wireloom and I don't know yet what the cause is for the third time as it is still with the dealer being fixed. In all cases, the vehicle just won't start. In fact, the first time I had a problem was in a busy intersection, annoying part is that it doesn't warn you...it just diesI felt the same when I first got my 2010 Tiguan 2.0TDi...until problems and reliability of the vehicle started. t has been towed back to dealership 3 times. The first time it happened I was sitting on a red light in a busy intersection when the engine suddenly stopped and won't move at all. Second time I just had finished dinner in a restaurant and when I tried to start the vehicle it just won't start. Third time it happened it was sitting in my garage. Problem with fuel sender and wireloom were the cause of the first 2 instances. I still don't know what the cause is for the 3rd occasion as the vehicle is still with the dealer. I am now starting to doubt Volkswagen's reliability...My Tiguan did the same!!!! 3 times and today was towed to the dealer. As it was 6.30 pm I do not know what is a cause, will know tommorrow.I was turning to maine street and engine just stopped!!! Hi Sue, my Tiguan also blew an engine at 67 000km. Could they tell you the cause?
