Good when it works

published

The Waterpik certainly helps my arthritic hands to keep my gums healthier. The downside of the design is having to press a tiny button to release the attachments. My greatest disappointment is that the battery is so erratic. I haven't worked out whether it's better to use the charger daily or not when at first once a week was fine. Actually this week like the Grandfather Clock - it stopped short never to go again.
I'm thinking of looking for an alternative product that's as effective but not so expensive in case it's also problematic.

Does its job, but very poor quality for the price

published

I paid $99 AUD for the product, I expected something that had a better design, feel and quality. Product just seems unnecessarily big and more importantly, cheap. Cheap plastic, button functions and charging station. I have an electric toothbrush that I only paid $40 for which has been designed and built much better.

Additionally, even at the highest pressure setting, I feel like it doesn't have enough power to really give me a clean mouth feeling.
It's a great idea, but execution still needs a LOT of work.

Battery issue

published

This is or was a great product. Unfortunately after 6 months though the product barely works due to what appears to be a battery issue. After reading other reviews, this seems to be a common problem. Simply, it no longer works because it doesn't seem to charge, you can charge for 12 hours and may squeeze about 10 seconds usage before it dies again! I may look at replacing the battery pack, but in all honesty, if this is a common problems, the company should fix it before selling it. Cheers

If you have braces you need this!

published

Put a little bit of Listerine, use the orthodontic head and use this it's so much easier than using super floss when you have braces, obviously you will still need to use super floss if you could and every now and then but for a day to day this thing really does a good job. I thought it would be kind of crappy but my friend got one and used it who didn't floss and their gums were bleeding from the first use (which is a good thing because it shows that it works, if you floss regularly your gums shouldn't bleed at all) evidently it would work better than not flossing though if you are a dedicated fulltime flosser then you should stick to that!

Dissapointed with a product from a company that should know better.

published

Good at what it does for the first couple of months then gradually reduced in power and required charging nightly but never fully. I had read some similar reviews but thought surely it would be ok... I finally replaced it at 10mths (4mths ago) with another brand that cost less, has a long lasting lithium battery not NiMH, requires charging only weekly, has a removable rubber insert that goes into the charging port on the handle that keeps it dry and free from gunge build up when it's in use and led indicators to let you know when it needs charging and when it's fully charged.

Stops working after about 1 year.

The good: portable price and reasonable water pressure
The bad:- Not charging anymore even after charging overnight. Expensive as it last only 1-2 years.

Good as part of your teeth cleaning program

published

As one component of your mouth hygiene program. It does clean lots of food particles from around your teeth and between them, even after electric brushing! Your teeth feel clean. I still like to clean with a brush though, after the water flosser.

Having a battery powered water jet allows some freedom of movement, but the battery life is so limited between charges, you need to take the charger if you are going for more than a couple of days.
Finding how many food particles can be left after brushing
Short battery life between charges. No battery level indicator. The charger is 220-240v only. If travelling, the charger DOES NOT work on 110v systems

The Waterpik makes flossing look prehistoric!

published

Before buying this product, I read so many reviews that picked holes in it that I almost didn't get it. Don't believe any of them! The tank is big enough for one flossing session, and the attachment at the top is designed to be turned to fit different areas of your mouth, and it stays charged for a good length of time. I had been having problems with sensitive gums that flossing simply made bleed; the Waterpik is gentle on the gum tissue, and does an incredibly thorough job of getting all the debris out from between your teeth. My gums have become so healthy after using it, and the big advantage of buying the travel model is that you can take it anywhere you go. Highly recommended!

Excellent

published

Like all waterpik products, this one helps maintain a healthy mouth by cleaning between your teeth and under your gumline. So effective in keeping plaque at bay and it will drastically reduce your dental problems in years to come. Gum disease is really bad for your health in so many ways and a waterpik goes a long way to preventing gum disease and other dental problems. Do yourself a favour and buy one!
Great for travelling when you can't take the WP-100 with you. It is not as powerful as the full sized waterpiks but just as effective. Good water capacity, easy (and fun) to use.
Nothing whatsoever.

There is a pressure setting on the front. Try that.

Hi! My Waterpik WP-450 has a two-pin charging connector, one circular, the other, larger one, a D-shape. Can anyone please tell me which is the positive pin? Thanks in advance.

Hi. I am just another Waterpik user like you9 but I’m wondering if perhaps your connectors are dirty ; the two gold prongs at the base of the flosser that you plug your charger cable into. You can clean these with alcohol, like Isocol, on a cotton bud. I’ve also used small pieces of dry steel wool to polish them up. Make sure you blow out any loose debris left behind.
If its not the connectors it is probably the battery and you will need to contact Waterpik in your area to see if it’s replaceable.
Good luck!
