Really happy with my BabyQ
I have had on my "bucket list" to acquire a bbq for my tiny balcony. The BabyQ 100 fitted the bill perfectly. Only trouble I had was getting the gas bottle (wanted a little one, and could not find any pre-filled, took me two weeks to find a refiller as I did not want to do swap and go after purchasing brand new bottle. Refill not expensive. Got the hang of barbequeing (spelling?) the weber-way in a couple of goes without burning the place down, and I HAVETA say, excellent little thing, really happy with it. Now to source a small breakfast plate, which seems to be out of stock everywhere. Will persist.
Compact, cute, and excellent cooking results (also very quick cooking!)

needs a bit better temp control
I love the weber but trying to cook a roast in it and lowest temp I can get is 200C? I also like to slow cook my steaks to well done not burnt on the outside. I dont know if it is possible to have a bit more adjustment in the gas knob to drop to say 150odd degrees or less or even a fiew adjustable vent holes to close or open to keep at desired temperature? Overall is grate butcould be fine tuned a bit more
cooks well bbq taste in a similar to oven cooked food
tempurature control

I had the same problem. Simply I put a spacer like spatula under the front of the lid to lift just a small fraction this allowed a little extra air in and the temp dropped to 150-160 degrees.

Hi Brett - you're right, the temp on the temp gauge won't go much below that, but roasting outside in a bbq you'll get much better results cooking at higher temperatures as humidity and wind/air flow ... Read more
around the unit play a part. Roast using a convection tray, and trivet, placing the food direct on the trivet - and set the control knob to the roast setting seen in your guidelines for your unit and you'll get awesome results. Check out the roast (and other) video on our website www.weberbbq.com.au - as for steak cooking (there's a video on that too!) the very last thing that will happen to your steaks is drying out! That's one of the best things about cooking with the lid down, it locks in all the juices. When cooking with the lid down, you get barbecuing from underneath, but the hot air going over the top of the steak prevents any of the moisture getting out (it almost roasts the top while the bottom is being barbecued), then you turn it once in the middle of the cooking time. For a well done steak, try around 5-6 mins a side for a 25mm thick scotch fillet. Any questions let me know. Dave@WeberAustraliaSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fantasmagorical
Fantastic. I've had my Baby Q for 3 years in my caravan and wouldn't trade it for anything. It cooks the best steaks and snags you could wish for. I've yet to have a steak from any restaurant that is anywhere as tasty as those from the Baby Q. I did have a faulty handle light which was well and truly out of the warranty period and Weber replaced it free of charge.
Great BBQ. Great company to deal with. Can't wait for the Q 200 for home.
So cheap to run. Uses hardly any gas. Lightweight and compact.
Can't think of anything.

Awesome!
After admiring my sister-in-law's BabyQ I decided to get one using FlyBuy points. I really wanted the model with the thermostat but this wasn't an option on points. I'd never BBQ'd before but find this so easy to use and like others have said - best steaks ever! I now do all my meat cooking outside - even in winter. It keeps the fried food smells out of the house, the fat drains out into the drip tray & even better there is no greasy pans & splattered cooktops to clean after. I've since bought the pizza stone, breakfast plate & roasting trivet....Read more
Roasts are so juicy I'll now cook them in summer to have with salad without heating up the house. Just got the cookbook by Ross McDonald & Margaret Kirkwood so looking forward to expanding my repertoire as the booklet that comes with the Weber Q is limited for recipes. I did find when I was learning that the BBQ runs a bit hot so I always pre-heat for 10 minutes on high but then I turn it down to mid-way or lower even for steak, although apparently you aren't supposed to! Tonight I threw some corn on the cobs on with the meat and they were so much nicer char-grilled than boiled. I'm going to find out if there is a vege basket for the BabyQ? As for my worry I wouldn't use it much I now do most of my cooking on it and also put it in the car to take on family picnics & holidays. I love it but there was a learning curve involved - especially cooking with the lid down as you can't watch the food cook. You don't prod & move the meat around - you leave it alone to do it's thing! Great for multi-tasking. I got the iGrill meat thermometer so I now get a message on my phone when the roast is ready!! Before that I would open the lid too often to check it and drop the temp down. My husband thinks it's hilarious as he has some kind of internal sensor that just 'knows' when a roast is ready but for me it's the perfect tool. November 10th 2017 Update: Great customer service I first wrote a glowing review about the Weber Baby Q back in September 2013. Four years later I still love it and use it all the time. This follow-up is to talk about Weber's fantastic customer service. I wanted to replace the grill which was looking a little tired after 4 solid years of use. Shayne at Weber quickly got back to me regarding the different grills available for my discontinued model as well as detailed instructions on how to keep it clean. Replacement grill was organised promptly with a confirmation email letting me know delivery time and how to track my parcel. You would need to read the emails to appreciate the level of customer service given but it's very apparent Weber care about their customers and their products - even a 4 year old discontinued model. Choice rate Weber as the best bbq's and so do I. November 11th 2017 Update: Outstanding customer service Four years later I still love my Weber Baby Q and use it all the time. Gives great cooking results, is very easy to use and best of all it's portable so we can easily take it camping. Recently I had to contact Weber and received fantastic customer service regarding a replacement grill for my bbq including instructions on the best way to clean it.. They evidently care about their products and their customers. Yes, that's the way it should be but it so often isn't! Easy to use, fast & food tastes better. Lots of great accessories. Limited recipes & instructions for cooking in booklet.3 comments

Love my Baby Q 100
Absolutely fantastic my only grumble is the price, but the Q 100 has justified this by the versatility and the way it cooks . There are 5 of us, 3 teenage boys my wife and myself and we have enough room to cook in one lot.I have also purchased the light that attaches to the lid handle, what a fantastic idea.
Compact and easy to take camping or just for day trips .

Hello, i recently bought an older Q100 Baby q. And without checking the original grill plate i bought a half hot plate not realising that the grill plate is a "whole" plate not two halves. Question is can i use the hot plate by placing it on top of the grill plate or do i need to buy new half/half grill to make a grill/hot plate combo. Apologues for the confusing wording

Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Jason, although they weren't specifically designed to be used that way, you can use the half hotplate on top of the one-piece grill if you don't want to replace the current grill with the two-piece grill that is available on modern Q models. You just need to factor in a bit more pre-heating time, and watch the barbecue as it will take a bit longer for the hotplate to heat up being further away from the heat source.

Hi Weber,
Our bbq plate ( Weber baby q complete grill plate) has broken. It has not been dropped. The only new thing we have done is to put a pizza stone in there. Could this have made it too hot to snap it?
Thanks.

Hi Susan, thanks for your question. Did you place the pizza stone on a trivet and convection tray when you placed it in the barbecue, or just straight on the grills?
We started placing it on the trivet but then lately we removed the trivet and had it straight on the grill. No convection tray just a pizza tray on the stone.
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Susan, we always recommend that you use a convection tray and trivet when using the Pizza Stone on the Q's as this turns your barbecue into an oven (using convection heating) to cook the food.
How old is your grill? Did it come with the barbecue or did you purchase it separately?
