Hi, Can the Baby Q1000 be used with the Weber Q Patio Cart? I prefer the Patio Cart to the Portable Cart.

Hi Jo, thanks for your question.

Unfortunately, no it can't be used with the Patio Cart. The Patio Cart is only suited to the Q2000 series, and the Q1000 series is too small to fit onto the stand. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Do you know that gas cylinders screw on backwards to the traditional clockwise way? It's the opposite of righty-tighty, lefty-loosey. Try screwing it on anti-clockwise

Hi Marilyn,

It sounds like you might have been turning it the wrong way when connecting it to your barbecue connections. The same as the above have said, try attaching with an anti-clockwise spin. If you need any further help, please call us on 1300 301 290 :)

Can i roast without a trivet on my baby q?

I wouldnt roast directly on the grill. We have used a tin foil bbq tray before.

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Sandie, thanks for getting in touch.
Your trivet raises the meat off the grill and away from the direct heat of the flames. This prevents burning and means you can cook the meat for long periods of time.
The trivet combined with the convection tray turns your barbecue into an oven, so you need both in order for it to work effectively.

Hope that helps! If you need any further information, please let us know.

We have a brand new weber baby Q and on first attempts to use consistently have flameouts where bbq just dies with gas flowing - obviously really dangerous so now no bbq for rest of remote holiday. When it is alight blue flames flicker in and out at the reg end of the burner pipe. We have tried new full 9kg cylinder, ensured not in reg bypass, checked all connections for leaks, even tried another baby q reg and pipe with no improvement. Where to next ? So far is an expensive door stop.

Sounds dodgy and I’d take it back to where you purchased it. I’m only a user not expert here but doesn’t sound right to me.

Jack P

Yea mate, I'd go along with what Caz has just said, it's a crappy deal for you but you'll need to take it back. For me, all I did was take it out of the box, assemble it and fire it up as per the instructions and it worked for me first time. Given that you've already tried a different regulator and gas bottle (which is what I'd do too), I can only guess that your baby Q is faulty.

Hi, thanks for your question.
The bottom of the gas bottle should sit on top of the flat plate that comes with your cart, then you should be able to strap it in with the velcro strap.
If you have any issues, please call us on 1300 301 290 and we can talk you through it.

The hose that comes with the Q's is about a metre in length, and you can purchase a 3m hose as an accessory. You can see it here: https://www.weberbbq.com.au/weber-accessories/q-3-metre-lp-bayonet-hose/

Hi Sue, thanks for your question.
All the recipes that we create are done by settings, rather than by temperature, so the thermometers are not necessary to cook what you're wanting.

If you would like to monitor your temperature, we have a heap of accessories available that can help you do so; check them out here: https://www.weberbbq.com.au/weber-accessories/

Can I install 2 half hotplates on my q1000?

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Thomo, thanks for your question.
The answer is no, and here is why:

There must always be a section of grill on your Q cookbox, as this allows for oxygen to get in a keep the gas alight, as well as allowing the natural convection-style cooking that the Q's are famous for to occur.
If you need more room to cook, may we suggest you invest in one of our Weber Q Ware Frying Pans? You can find them here: https://www.weberbbq.com.au/weber-accessories/small-q-ware-frying-pan/

If you need any more information, please call us on 1300 301 290. Thanks!

Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Anette, thanks for your question.

If you have a Q100/1000 then, unfortunately, no there is no space for a thermometer in the lid. Doing so would compromise the integrity of the lid materials and damage your barbecue. Only the Q120/1200 lids have them.

If you would like a thermometer in the lid, we do offer the option to purchase extra lids from our head office; you can call us on 1300 301 290 and we can go from there. Thanks again!

I have a Baby Q and have no experience with it.
My question is..what good are the two lugs on the side of the breakfast half hotplate?
They have a hole in each lug too.
They seem to make the hotplate sit out from the side of the BBQ.
I feel like cutting them off so I get more grill area and allow the half hotplate to sit against the side.

The breakfast plate should have come with two metal handles which connect into the holes in the “lugs” for taking the plate off the bbq. The handles also then serve as a stand to keep the bbq plate (now a food serving plate) off the table while keeping you food hot.

I know the recommended size for the gas bottles is between 4.5 and 9, however i cant find any cylinders between those sizes! I can get a 1.25, 2, 3, 4 and then straight up to a 9! Do i really have to lug a 9kg gas bottle around? What would happen if i used a 4kg cylinder? Is the only problem that tou run out of gas a bit quicker? Any help would be appreciated.

I know it's dumb that they suggest 4.5 ...... and 4kg will work ... but really ... running out of gas in the middle of cooking lunch for visitors ...... or worse still, Xmas dinner .... BAD! That is SO much worse than the once-only inconvenience of bringing home a big bottle.
If you only cook once a month then a 4kg is ok .....I suppose ..... I just prefer to stay within 'recommended guidelines' =/
I confess we leave one out front + one out back, but you could just pop it on a fridge trolley if it's a problem.
I'm a 'week and feeble woman' and I manage!

I have purchased a new weber Q1000 ulpg. I want to fit a different gas hose but I cant remove the the factory fitted hose. I am turning counterclockwise with spanner on the hose side with considerable force while supporting the fitting with smaller spanner on the bbq side. I am concerned that more force may cause damage. I would suggest that you call Weber for this technical advice.

Rob

You were possibly turning the wrong direction because the fitting is upside down from your view . Eg. hold an empty jar with the bottom up facing your view and undo the lid. See what just happened? The lid suddenly needs to be turned clockwise instead of anticlockwise because of the shift of view. To undo, is counterclockwise until the view is from behind. Rob

Hi Mark, thanks for your question.

Our barbecues are recommended to be used with gas bottles from 4.5kgs to 9kgs - these sizes can last for many, many cooks. We're not sure how long a 2.5kg bottle will last as it's not recommended to be used with our barbecues.

I have a Weber baby Q and have just purchased a longer hose for connection to our caravan. Do we need a regulator for this?

2 answers
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi, thanks for your question.

We are unable to give advice on modifying any part of the barbecue that forms part of the Certification of Compliance, given by The Australian Gas Association. Elements that are involved in this certification include hose and regulators, manifolds etc. To advise you on this would be to help create a non-certified gas appliance in Australia. As a responsible gas appliance supplier, we can’t do that.

Unfortunately, even if we were able to supply all the parts to make a gas barbecue usable in Australia, doing that does not make it a certified appliance. This certification is very important and if we supply or modify barbecues outside of this certification we potentially expose Weber, R McDonald Co. and yourself to liability issues and, more importantly, safety issues should anything go wrong.

We suggest you get in contact with your local gas supplier and speak to them about bringing your barbecue to code and ensuring you're within Australian guidelines.
Sorry we could not assist further, but if you have any other questions, please ring our Customer Service hotline on 1300 301 290 (toll free).
Thanks again.

Rob
Rob

You must always use a regulator when using an LPG bottle with a POL fitting. Otherwise, gas flow will be too fierce when full, which can cause a serious incident. Better to find a way of joining the two hoses together or get a separate regulator for your new hose. Rob

We have just bought a Baby Weber Q 1000, we cannot get the gas connection to undo from the Weber Q. We want to put on a longer hose, that we have purchased so it will fit into our bayonet connection on our motorhome. My husband has used quite a bit of force with a spanner to undo the connection but it will not budge. Surely it shouldn't be that hard!! Does anyone have any ideas, think it will be a trip back to the shop tomorrow to ask if they can help?

It is a Gas Thread, you're doing it wrong :)

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Patti, thanks for your question.

We are unable to recommend changing the hoses for your Baby Q, as this alters the barbecues' compliance with the Australian Gas Association. We are unable to modify (or recommend modification) any part of the barbecue that forms part of the certification (ie hose and regulators, manifolds etc.). To do so would be to effectively supply a non-certified gas appliance in Australia.

You may be able to find a gas fitter who is willing to modify your bbq but again this would not make the appliance certified and would potentially expose the gas fitter and yourself to liability and safety issues should anything go wrong.

We are sorry that we cannot offer further assistance. If you would like any further information, please contact our Customer Service team on 1300 301 290 (toll-free) or your local gas provider.
Thanks again Patti.

Hey there I have had my BBQ for over 2years now and the ignition button is still working fine. sure you can have it replace free charge as it would still be under warranty. I give it a good clean every couple of months so there is no build up of grease over these parts and helps.

On my Q1000AU I see to have better heating on one side of the bbq - the side further away from the gas input location in spite of the other side being cleaner. I do not understand why. The bbq is not perfectly horizontal - can that be the reason for different heat of one side of the bbq?

You need to check the jets are all giving off the same amount of flame - some may need cleaning. Alternatively your regulator may not be letting enough gas through, though that's unlikely. There's not much can go wrong with these units, keep them clean & they seem to work just fine.
If that doesn't fix the problem, drop it in to your local Webber dealer.

I've had a weber for years and the level does effect the output a little.
You can either level it or use the hotter side to your advantage!
It's not exclusive to weber as there's a few single hoop burner bbqs on the market that would probably do the same thing.

fingron

I agree with Nomad but I did tip my weber slightly off centre (by an inch) & the flame stayed the same. Is each plate the same eg two grills or two flat plates?. No answer required, you have got me!. Always read the book, if it says 3 min each side, I set my mob phone to 3 mins & always get good results.

The Weber installation instructions note the regulator vent hole should be pointing down. The 2 kg bottle connects with the regulator upright not horizontal so it is not possible to have the vent hole pointing down. Is that an issue?

Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Steve.

We recommend that you use LPG cylinders with a minimum capacity of 4.5 kg and a maximum capacity of 9 kg.
New LPG cylinders can be purchased full; empty LPG cylinders can be refilled or exchanged. You may choose to purchase a spare LPG cylinder so that you don't run out of fuel in the middle of cooking a meal.

We hope that helps answer your question. If you need any further information, please call our Customer Service team on 1300 301 290 (toll-free).
