Hi Rick, sorry we can only comment on connections that are suitable for Australian and New Zealand barbecues. We are not aware of the gas requirements for Portuguese barbecues.

Hi Russell the carts are sold separately, there are 2 carts that are compatable with the baby q, one of them doesn't appear to have any gas bottle facilities but the patio cart has a spot for 9kg gas bottles. Hope I was able to help, regards Tracy.

Hi Russell, yes, there is a space at the bottom of the Portable Cart that is capable of holding a 9kg gas bottle.

I had a Baby Q fire when cooking a roast for an hour. I had to buy a new one. It has never happened before. The only difference is that I have an 8.5 gas bottle. I don’t suppose that a large gas bottle could increase the heat?

I know all about cleaning the tray etc so don’t need advice there thanks.

Hi Fran, we're sorry to hear that you have had an incident with your Q- did you call us when this happened? We can organise replacement parts & warranty claims so you should have had to purchase a new barbecue.

The size of the gas bottle doesn't impact heat levels- if cleaned correctly and drip & convection trays are changed regularly (or with each use when talking about convection trays) then there should be no reason for there to be a fire.

If you could tell me what you were cooking and what settings you had it on, we can help avoid this with your current barbecue. Thanks

Hi Julie, the Baby Q models are to be used with LPG only, as they are a portable barbecue. They cannot be connected to Natural Gas.

Hi Georgia, we recommend using any sized gas bottle from 4kg-9kg, and these are the most common size bottles you'll find around the place.

I bought a Weber Q in Darwin which doesn't have Natural Gas.
I live in an apartment block in Darwin NT & all of the Apartments have access to LPG
My previous BBQ was connected to LPG via an adapter.
What is A/V for me to connect my Weber Q instead of individual bottle?
Thankyou

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Sue, if you've got a Baby Q model (q100/120/1000/1200), then this is only available in an LPG model and no connections are available for NG. Any model up from the Baby Q range is available on either LPG or NG. Sorry about that.

Not sure, give BBQ galore a call

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Pierre, you can purchase a new lid from Weber head office if you really want to. We can be contacted on 1300 301 290.

Having the high lid and thermometer is not essential to be able to cook in your Q- all of our recipes are written by setting, rather than by temp so you can follow along if you have a standard lid.

Why do you think you need one?

Can I convert my baby q to use natural gas at home?

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Denny, the Baby Q models can't be used on natural gas, only LPG. This is because they're a portable barbecue and aren't suited to NG connections. A Weber Q model and up can be used with NG as an option.

Hi there,
Yes the weber baby q only uses LPG gas as that is what came with mine when I first received it. As far as I know you can use a small or larger LPG gas cylinder bottle as they fit underneath the weber baby q if you have purchased the stand for the weber baby q. Hope this helps

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Hunter, yes Baby Q barbecues only use LPG gas. 4.5kg bottles is the minimum size bottle we recommend with these barbecues.

I don't know. You're best off using an old style oven temperature gauge if your unit doesn't come with the in-built temp gauge.

Hi Geoff, we can't guarantee a particular temp at a particular setting, so we have created all of our recipes to go by setting on the dial rather than cooking by temp. That being said, you can use a Bluetooth thermometer like our iGrill with an ambient probe and monitor the internal temp of your Q, or if you have a thermometer in the lid you can use that too.

Has anyone else had trouble with it blowing out? I am trying to roast a lamb with it blowing out every 5 minutes and its not very windy.

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Erin, that's not good to hear.

This to check are:
- Whether you have enough gas in the bottle to sustain constant temp during the cook
- is there anything restricting the airflow around the mesh at the end of the burner tube (reducing bush)?
- check the regulator ('disc' metal part on the hose) as there is a small hole that can become blocked - if you clear it with a pin this may help better regulate the air flow.

Other than that, please call us on 1300 301 290 so we can look into this further. Thanks!

Hi, I would not recommend using propane at all ?

Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Mark, thanks for your question. Our barbecues are suited to either LPG or NG gas types- when using LPG we only recommend you use gas bottles sized between 4.5kg-9kg, and these will suit your gas connections. Hope that helps Mark and if you have any further questions, please let us know.

Hi Weber bbqs, this hasn't answered the question though. Is it possible to connect a 458g disposable propane canister to this bbq? This would be very useful for overnight or short camp trips where one doesn't want to carry a larger gas bottle. I have tried to unscrew the gas hose on my baby Q and it is not unscrewing off. I have read US customers have connected their baby Q to disposable gas canisters. Please advise what is possible not what is recommended.
