Replacing an old wall oven with new
Just purchased this wall oven to replace an old one. Bought it through Appliances online pty ltd. Had a good deal 43% discount. Mum like Westinghouse, so is very happy, was for her a present. Very satisfied with its features and design, 80L capacity and spreads heat evenly.
Purchased in February 2021.

Very new but already very happy with this product. Food cooked well and look forward to trying more
Love the clean lines of this product. Had a Westinghouse before but it was 16 years old. It has served us well. Look forward to using this oven for at least that length of time as well. Westinghouse is a very reliable brand and been around for a long time.

Just don't!!
For years we suffered with a Westinghouse 645 LPG wall oven (with gas grill). This was a never-ending disaster and ruined so many meals including a Christmas lunch one year. My long-suffering wife was in tears on a number of occasions with this confounded product. The problem with it was that the gas igniter was a 'thermocouple' device which simply failed to ignite. Over the years that we had this oven we had this device replaced 5 TIMES! This was a recognised failing in this product- certainly it kept their repair people busy. The gas grill su...Read more
ffered from the same problem. Eventually we had to give up with this oven, we could live with it any more. We went to the Good Guys to look for a replacement. The only LPG option they could offer us was yet ANOTHER Westinghouse oven. Had we been able to upgrade the power supply to the oven we would have gone for an electric oven but this proved too costly. Reticent, less we suffer the same fate with another Westinghouse product, I wrote to the company (November 2014) enquiring as to whether we might be in danger of experiencing the same issues with their current products. The reassuring response was that the ignition system had been changed to an electronic igniter... problem solved?! NO, NO, NO.... IT WAS NOT! We now have yet another an oven that fails to get up to the required temperature... we have had another dinner party stuffed by this miserable piece of rubbish. As I write another attempt today to cook in the oven has failed- this within weeks of the expiration of its 24 month warranty. To date the oven has failed to reach the desired temperature. Today It refuses to ignite AT ALL! We had a serviceman call a fortnight ago to look at the unit. He is returning later this week with another igniter... it's all a bit like 'Groundhog Day'! He advises that the company is proposing to 'source these igniters from another supplier'- yet another systemic failure. This is a tune I've heard before! He returns this Friday with the relevant part but I have not the slightest confidence that we won't be seeing him again in the near future. Other than this the changes to the unit from the old one include the double window door which blows hot air through it right up to the handle where you open it. This, I daresay, is to ensure that no-one will burn themselves if they touch the oven window. As it blows so much hot air through it it must use a fair bit more energy to do fulfill its main function of cooking food. When we bought it we didn't even know that the grill was now electric... they've obviously given up on the gas-fired grill idea. I wish I could be submitting a positive review for a Westinghouse product, it is Australian-made and we're keen to support local industry. Having said this I can only caution anyone against buying a Westinghouse gas-fired oven. We won't, ever again. Twice bitten, thrice shy...2 comments
Well, following the 'response' from Electrolux I contacted them through the given email address without delay. After a couple of days I had a reply asking me how old the unit was, what was the Serial ... Read more
Number and has an Electrolux technician ever touched it. I sent them this info 5 days ago and have had no response since. Perhaps the 'Westinghouse Official' reply to my review is simply an endeavour to show anyone reading it that they actually DO give a S*@# ! I can now report that the Electrolux/Westinghouse service department is well and truly in line with the quality of their product! First of all when we first called their service department to report a problem they asked whether the product was still under warranty. It was a couple of months within the warranty period. The respondent then suggested that we should have paid for an ‘extended warranty’ when we bought the product. Now doesn’t that express a deal of confidence in their product?Similar opinion? Started out a dream but..
Did a lot of research when our 12-year-old Westinghouse wall oven died. We had a Westinghouse in our previous house that lasted 17 years. Husband and I looked at every other brand but came back to Westinghouse and it started out as a dream replacement. We chose this one because it didn't have catalytic liners, we don't want them and this was the only wall oven/grill that didn't have them.
A few weeks after purchase I realised that the oven temperature was out by nearly 30 degrees. Westinghouse technician came and fixed it and we thought, all g...Read more

Dont waste your time
Oven was installed in the property we purchased. Temperature seemed too hot that it burnt the outside of my meal and left the middle raw, the fan seemed to blow too much hot air into my kitchen and oven surface far too hot to touch. Had 4 service calls that cost almost $650.00 in call out fees and parts. Service tech ended up referring me to Technika (mainly due to install size) and its1000 times better

Hi I am looking to replace a gas wall oven and have been advised and researched the gas igniters fail in the Westinghouse ovens as the gas gets cut off when the oven temperature is reached then reignites and is repeated till the oven is turned off. Can you confirm their reliability as this could be a costly ongoing problem if igniters have to be replaced every year or so.

I am very disappointed to here about the reviews to the model that I am looking to purchase. I have an Electrolux Model at the moment with a separate gas griller which was making noises. After getting the serviceman to have a look at it, he advised that it will cost about $250.00 to fix it and that the oven will probably go after a couple of months and to fix that will cost another $350.00- that's $550.00. So now I am opting to buy an equivalent oven to what I have and was recommended the above model, but after reading the reviews I am having second thoughts. I don't like the electric grill but this model looks is the only model offered to replace what I have. I don't understand Westinghouse -If they know there are problems with this oven why don't they fix the problem. I have always been loyal to this company - first CHEF which lasted 20 years than Westinghouse another 16 years. Common what am I suppose to do with these reviews. I cannot ignore them. Please help me with my dilemma????

Like you I daresay, I would love to support an Australian-made product (I think our oven IS Aussie-made) but our experience with Westinghouse ovens, as you've read, has not been a good one. I spoke to someone today in Electrolux Customer Care and, based on our experiences with their products, they have offered to extend the warranty on our new oven which is about to expire. Our oven, incidentally, is working fine after replacement of the electronic igniter module. I could see, when it was being fitted, that the new module looks different to the one it replaces and apparently it is made by a different manufacturer to the original... after our experiences with the last oven we had I'm not holding my breath! In our case we had little option but to go for this make of oven as we needed an LPG model. I think they rush new models out to market without thoroughly and adequately testing them first. We're not really worried about it having an electric grill- it probably gives more even heat than a gas one. Yes, we hope it is fixed for years of reliable use but I think that given the option of something else I'd go for something else! Good luck!
Thank you for your reply but after speaking to a sales person yesterday, it seems Electrolux is the only model that is available in gas that has a griller underneath. I can live with the electric griller but hope I can get the oven to cook properly and evenly. The sales person did mention that this particular oven is 100 degrees over, buy I think he is pulling my leg and was trying to get me to buy something else completely and more expensive. I will have to re-think but there are not much options for me at this present time. Thank you for the reply and comments, much appreciated.
