Replacing an old wall oven with new
Just purchased this wall oven to replace an old one. Bought it through Appliances online pty ltd. Had a good deal 43% discount. Mum like Westinghouse, so is very happy, was for her a present. Very satisfied with its features and design, 80L capacity and spreads heat evenly.
Purchased in February 2021.

The oven doesn't light up
Installed the oven and it simply doesn't light up and stay on. Continually tries to reignite. Faulty oven?? Now stuck without an oven which is distressing as meals are grilled or baked at home. Will not be spending another cent for any changes, removal, installs, etc. Not what to expect for a new product and a reputable brand...so I thought.

Tempered glass shattered
About 2 weeks ago after using the griller for 5 to 10 minutes the glass in the griller door exploded/shattered sending broken glass up to 2 to 3 metres. The griller had been turned off for about 5 minutes when it shattered. We were very lucky that no one was close by. When I contacted Westinghouse about replacement glass the representative was not overly concerned about the shattered glass. The oven is now out of warranty. I am not happy about having to pay a service call for the glass to be replaced in a griller that is less than 3 years old.

Replaced older oven - it's great
I have had a very old westinghouse gas oven and gas separate grill which was about 25 years old and still working brilliantly but I needed to replace as freshened up the kitchen. I love having the oven and grill separate even though having this means it's more expensive than combined. I also wanted same to put into same space, although do note that it is a little smaller than the original and we did have to get a handyman to build an infill which matches perfectly. Although gas grill now replaced with electric it looks and is amazing although early days. Look forward to another 25years of use :-)

A Nice All-round Oven
We live in a townhouse so were just wanting a reasonably priced basic wall oven. This has been a good, trouble free oven and is very easy to use. If you fancy yourself as an amateur chef then this oven probably wouldn't be for you as it is on the smaller scale and doesn't have any fancy bells and whistles. The only negative thing I can say about it is that it seems to take a long time to preheat to the standard temperatures between 180-220 degrees Celsius.

Frame for seprate grill melted Fire hazard
Bought this oven a year ago and the door frame to the bottom grill melted into the glass door
This is a fire hazard had to stop using the grill
Called Westinghouse they sent a repair man who told me that the door has to be open when using the grill
Should the oven been constructed of materiel that is potentially flammable

Very new but already very happy with this product. Food cooked well and look forward to trying more
Love the clean lines of this product. Had a Westinghouse before but it was 16 years old. It has served us well. Look forward to using this oven for at least that length of time as well. Westinghouse is a very reliable brand and been around for a long time.

Absoloute JUNK
Brand new install and the igniter doesnt work. What a pile of junk. Now have to have it removed and have a new one installed after we paid to have it installed. I can guarantee Westinghouse will be paying. Dont they test products before leaving the factory in CHINA?? Grill works fine but oven doesnt ignite at all. JUNK

Wouldn't buy Westinghouse based on this oven
When sharing my views on this oven, the most common reply is "you'll get used to it". I've used many different ovens in my 30 years of being a passionate foodie. I've used old and new, gas and electric. By far this Westinghouse oven is the worst. I used to set off smoke alarms about once or twice a year with burnt toast or neglecting to use a timer while being distracted. I set off our smoke alarm 95% of the time when using this oven. I tested the inside temperature and it runs anywhere from 20-30 degrees hotter than stated on the dial. Even wi...Read more
th this knowledge and paying close attention to whatever goes in - I would rename this oven "the smoke machine". I don't burn anything now but the kind of heat this generates resembles a fierce bbq. I use the "bake" function but that word should read "cremate" because it will find something in my food and cause it to smoke without burning. If left unattended for a few minutes, food is destroyed. Quite simply, I hate it. After about (minimum) 50 uses making everything from dessert tarts, cookies, pizza, roasts, casseroles, garlic bread, tortilla baskets and tray bakes - for me this oven is a fail.1 comment

Just don't!!
For years we suffered with a Westinghouse 645 LPG wall oven (with gas grill). This was a never-ending disaster and ruined so many meals including a Christmas lunch one year. My long-suffering wife was in tears on a number of occasions with this confounded product. The problem with it was that the gas igniter was a 'thermocouple' device which simply failed to ignite. Over the years that we had this oven we had this device replaced 5 TIMES! This was a recognised failing in this product- certainly it kept their repair people busy. The gas grill su...Read more
ffered from the same problem. Eventually we had to give up with this oven, we could live with it any more. We went to the Good Guys to look for a replacement. The only LPG option they could offer us was yet ANOTHER Westinghouse oven. Had we been able to upgrade the power supply to the oven we would have gone for an electric oven but this proved too costly. Reticent, less we suffer the same fate with another Westinghouse product, I wrote to the company (November 2014) enquiring as to whether we might be in danger of experiencing the same issues with their current products. The reassuring response was that the ignition system had been changed to an electronic igniter... problem solved?! NO, NO, NO.... IT WAS NOT! We now have yet another an oven that fails to get up to the required temperature... we have had another dinner party stuffed by this miserable piece of rubbish. As I write another attempt today to cook in the oven has failed- this within weeks of the expiration of its 24 month warranty. To date the oven has failed to reach the desired temperature. Today It refuses to ignite AT ALL! We had a serviceman call a fortnight ago to look at the unit. He is returning later this week with another igniter... it's all a bit like 'Groundhog Day'! He advises that the company is proposing to 'source these igniters from another supplier'- yet another systemic failure. This is a tune I've heard before! He returns this Friday with the relevant part but I have not the slightest confidence that we won't be seeing him again in the near future. Other than this the changes to the unit from the old one include the double window door which blows hot air through it right up to the handle where you open it. This, I daresay, is to ensure that no-one will burn themselves if they touch the oven window. As it blows so much hot air through it it must use a fair bit more energy to do fulfill its main function of cooking food. When we bought it we didn't even know that the grill was now electric... they've obviously given up on the gas-fired grill idea. I wish I could be submitting a positive review for a Westinghouse product, it is Australian-made and we're keen to support local industry. Having said this I can only caution anyone against buying a Westinghouse gas-fired oven. We won't, ever again. Twice bitten, thrice shy...2 comments

Number and has an Electrolux technician ever touched it. I sent them this info 5 days ago and have had no response since. Perhaps the 'Westinghouse Official' reply to my review is simply an endeavour to show anyone reading it that they actually DO give a S*@# ! I can now report that the Electrolux/Westinghouse service department is well and truly in line with the quality of their product! First of all when we first called their service department to report a problem they asked whether the product was still under warranty. It was a couple of months within the warranty period. The respondent then suggested that we should have paid for an ‘extended warranty’ when we bought the product. Now doesn’t that express a deal of confidence in their product?Similar opinion? Cooking like a professional
Very happy with my purchase, which replaced my 12 year Simpson which ceased functioning Christmas Eve..
Aspects I like:
It looks good.
Cooking is quiet and efficient. I am still learning about the different styles of cooking, but it is great to have a few choices.
Really like the quick heat up function.
It came with two wire shelves and a tray that can be used as a shelf.
The timer is easy to set and use.
I haven't used the grill yet, so cannot comment on that yet
Bought from Appliances Online. Great service again.

Great Buy
Purchased 665 but was nearly put off by some of the reviews. Previous Westinghouse lasted 25 years. Went for westinghouse again as it was the only one we could find with separate grill and oven. Not fancy but great cooking and grilling so far. Good value for money. Would recommend it.

Started out a dream but..
Did a lot of research when our 12-year-old Westinghouse wall oven died. We had a Westinghouse in our previous house that lasted 17 years. Husband and I looked at every other brand but came back to Westinghouse and it started out as a dream replacement. We chose this one because it didn't have catalytic liners, we don't want them and this was the only wall oven/grill that didn't have them.
A few weeks after purchase I realised that the oven temperature was out by nearly 30 degrees. Westinghouse technician came and fixed it and we thought, all g...Read more

Dont waste your time
Oven was installed in the property we purchased. Temperature seemed too hot that it burnt the outside of my meal and left the middle raw, the fan seemed to blow too much hot air into my kitchen and oven surface far too hot to touch. Had 4 service calls that cost almost $650.00 in call out fees and parts. Service tech ended up referring me to Technika (mainly due to install size) and its1000 times better

Great Oven But ..........
I did a lot of research before buying this wall oven and found it hard to find a gas wall oven with a separate grill. I decided on the Westinghouse WVG665WLP Wall Oven. The oven is great as it is big inside with ample room. The oven is gas and I have cooked several cakes, muffins and cheesecakes and they have cooked perfectly. I have heard a few reviews where they complain about a gas oven as it does not cook evenly but this oven is great. However the grill section is a different story. Upon using it for the first time I find out it is an elect...Read more
ric grill. Highly disappointed as we thought we were buying a gas oven with a gas griller. But no it is electric and because the way the electric grill bar is it does not cook evenly which is a pain. Another problem is the grill tray gets extremely hot when it is being used. It is that hot that you have to use tongs or a tea towel to bring it out. I think they could have designed that a lot better than what they have as it is a safety issue. Having said all that the oven is great it is a shame about the grill. It is disappointing that there is not more choice when it comes to buying gas ovens and grills. Ample choice if you are looking for an electric one.Similar opinion? Hi I am looking to replace a gas wall oven and have been advised and researched the gas igniters fail in the Westinghouse ovens as the gas gets cut off when the oven temperature is reached then reignites and is repeated till the oven is turned off. Can you confirm their reliability as this could be a costly ongoing problem if igniters have to be replaced every year or so.

I have had this oven for about 2 years and I can't say I am happy with it. I purchased it after my original Westinghouse oven needed too many repairs so I decided to upgrade.
My biggest concern about this oven is that it burns any food that I place on the second shelf. I have tried using different levels in the oven but it keeps occuring. Especially if I bake cookies or pastries, I am only able to use the top shelf. Any thing placed on second shelf burns from underneath.
I wonder if others have had this same problem.

Brand new oven (WVG665SNG) and somehow managed to switch grill on while wiping down the outer surface.
I now have a melted grill door on my 2-week old oven!
Can I replace this door or just the top bracket that is melted?
