DO NOT USE THIS CARD
Do not use this card, you can be left with insufficient available balance. The hotel pre-authorised payments and then debited the same amount when checking out, so the card was debited approximately DOUBLE the actual cost. The pre-authorisations are pending payments and are taken off the available balance leaving you short of money for the next 30 days until the pending pre-authorisation times out. NOT HAPPY

No problems
I have been using a WestPac global currency card for years without any problems. I used it in the UK, few European countries and South-Africa. No issues with withdrawing cash or paying. The mobile app works great. Make sure about your exchange rates and load and exchange money as needed. Seamless to add money and exchange as needed with the app. Like anything else make sure how to use it and the associated rules. Better to use than have your normal credit card hacked.

Service is a joke
The customer service to get a card is a joke. Made 3 phone calls and no one could actually answer a question, one person promised to call back, still waiting on that call. Had the misfortune of dealing with a Samuel Smart and unfortunately didn't live up to the name and as I result I never actually the card. Strongly considering moving banks as a result.

Do not use product - won't return any monies stolen
We went to Thailand in March and still in the process of complaints to get our money back. We had over $1,800 stolen by credit card fraud while over in Patong. Because the card is still in our possession westpac believes this is not classed as fraud. Bloody ridiculous. We have been fighting this since March and have been loyal customers for 2 decades. We will be taking our business and personal accounts to another bank. Global currency cards are outsourced and are not handled by westpac until a complaint over the decision is reached. Do not use.

Not happy
So I was pretty quickly swept up in the excitement when looking at this card online... sadly i stupidly didn't think of checking reviews till after I converted my money to euros and GBP! So, understandably, westpac will have to make a profit on providing this service. And as a promotion they offered $50 cash back to those that convert $3000 AUD to any 1 or more foreign currencies. I'm going away for 5 weeks in Europe soon, so I converted $500 AUD to GBP and $2500 AUD to euro (thus equaling $3000 AUD in order to take advantage of the $50 cash ba...Read more
ck). Straight after doing so it says my account is worth $2767.84 in AUD! $232.16 less than what I converted it from 1 second ago! And yes I will get the $50 cash back IN 6 TO 8 weeks from the 19th of JUNE, but even then I've instantly lost $182.16! As I said, I understand the goal of any business is to create a profit, but far out it hurts to know i lost almost $200 like that. Even with the 3% foreign transaction fee that I'll be saving on won't even closely balance this out. My advice to anyone planning on using this - do NOT convert your AUD to any other foreign currency because yes you'll receive not a great exchange rate, but it's when time comes to convert it back to AUD that you'll lose even more money! By keeping it in AUD you still can take advantage of no 3% fee. And this is before I've even left and tried using the supposed horrible app!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Worst currency card ever
This is the worst and most complicated currency card ever. Warning - do not apply for this card. Completely impossible to use and ten business days to retrieve funds. Never again.

Fantastic travel card
I’ve used the Westpac GCC on two overseas trips to Europe, the most recent one being a nine month trip in 2017 to Spain, France and Italy. I could not have been happier with this card. I chose it because I am an existing Westpac customer and I also because of their global a alliance - for such a long trip, the ability to withdraw cash without fees was fantastic and I never had any issue finding ATMs that were part of this alliance. The app works great and the card also worked great in shops too (though I mostly used it to withdraw cash). I’m so...Read more
rry to read the bad reviews here, but I honestly would recommend it. I had a rather large amount of euros left on the card when I came back to Aus, but have left them on there to use for my next Europe trip. The cards did expire earlier this year but again, ordering replacements was really easy via the app, they arrived quickly and there was no associated fee. Since I initially got this card, the Aud has dropped against the euro so all in all, I feel like I really made the right decision getting this card and would do so again, particularly for travelling to countries within the ATM alliance. Oh and the few times I needed to call the helpline I got through quickly & found them to be helpful. Good job Westpac!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

This product is a FAKE
AVOID THIS PRODUCT. IT DOES NOT WORK App continues to crash...is unusable for practical purposes...should be illegal. Westpac knows this app is unreliable yet persists with allowing customers to apply for and use it. Unconscionable arrogance and disregard for ethical compliance. Unbelievable that Westpac is allowed to do this. Regulator and the Government are as much to blame for this flagrant fraudulence

Westpac Global Currency Card Rip-off - bank scam
All was set for a fantastic family holiday to USA.
Global Currency Card loaded up with $A & $US to avoid those pesky fees overseas!!
Then the motel at Disneyland would take the Westpac GCC as it has no name on it (4 ID), and even after pleading with them that it’s a VISA DEBIT CARD (as good as cash), hey needed a credit card ! bang more fees!
Then hotel after hotel for out US trip would accept it.
Gets back after 2 week’s and over $7K of spend and the Westpac folk won’t allow a withdraw (other than cash at an ATM!) to take the residual $3K ...Read more

Unconscionable behaviour by Westpac Banking corporation
On 28th February 2018 I transferred $7215.13 back to my Westpac account from my Global Currency Card and closed the account. I was very surprised to learn that it would be ten days to get my money back in to the account. It has now been twelve days and the money is still not in the account. As far as I am concerned this is blatant use of my money for 12 days without my permission.

worst customer service ever
My money has been withdrawn out of my travel card by Westpac. They told me 10 business days, still no money and they can’t tell me where my money is. Worst card never using it again. Westpac where have you invested my money?

Rubbish warning warning
Transferred money on to my card to find out later on that it was expiring in 8 days without any warning when I put the money on. Tried to take it off and was told it would take 10 days and the the exchange rate now meant I would loose 1200 AUD in the exchange. The call centre gave no assistance and it ruined our holiday. Warning. Do not use Westpac they are a rip off. When we get home we will be canceling all our facilities with Westpac. 5 business accounts and 3 personal accounts along with a home loan account.

Money did not arrive in 10 business days
Not only is it absolutely RIDICULOUS for it to take 10 BUSINESS DAYS to transfer money from a WESTPAC travel card back to your normal WESTPAC account, MY MONEY DID NOT ARRIVE IN THIS GIVEN AMOUNT OF TIME. When I called I was given a "okay well I notified them so it'll take a couple of business days for action to take place". This is COMPLETELY unacceptable. Never use this.

10 working days wait for transfers between accounts. Get yourself a better travel card.
One a balance appears in your Currency Card wallet, transferring into other currencies is reasonably easy.
## Transferring money from your own account via online banking takes 10 working days.
## Transferring money online from your Global Currency card back to your account when you get home takes 10 working days...what sort of service is this. Where has this money gone for 2 weeks?
Don't get a Westpac currency card!!!!
Exchange rate is average.
Trying to get help over the phone doesn't help.
I called Global Currency card Assist twice from the US .... poor.

Sounded good at the time
Ordered these as I was already a Westpac customer and looked like a good idea on the website advertising. I was also pleasantly surprised when they turned up within the week. After reading reviews I think I will try the ANZ cash packs which offer a good exchange rate.

Worked well - no problems in Singapore
Looked at a number of "cash cards"and decided to go with the Westpac Global Cash Card because they had a relationship with a couple of Singapore banks which meant that we could get money from an ATM without paying a fee.
I'd read in previous reviews that the conversion rates were not very good and that was partly correct. Converting from Australian dollars to Singapore dollars used a good rate - certainly similar or better than walk-up cash converters or banks. The sting is if you want to convert back from Singapore dollars to Australian dol...Read more

Racketeering
Come Thailand & make withdrawal of AUD $800 using Westpac Travel Card.
Later check my account & find Westpac charged me $75 for the transaction.
This is virtually 10% of my withdrawal & is absolute gouging/racketeering of worst kind.
Wespac says use Global Alliance ATM,s to negate fees but NONE in Thailand.
