What is the max pipe run length for a your Actron SR 171 reverse cycle system?
2 answers
Sorry I don't have enough technical knowledge to answer this. You probably should contact Actron.
Maximum pipe run is 60m, including a maximum vertical rise of 20m. The unit is precharged with enough refrigerant for 15m of piping, extra length will require more refrigerant (of course your installer will sort this out).

Thinking of replacing my zircon system with an SRG171E three phase. Does anyone know the Energy Star rating for this system and is it better than a Daikin Inverter?
1 answer
Most of the larger ducted air con (from any vendor) do not have star ratings. You can get some idea of comparative running costs using the comparator at energyrating.gov.au web site.
The Actron SRA/SRG models are fixed speed systems (not inverter) so not a direct comparison to the Daikin Standard inverters (variable speed compressor), but they do the job quite well. An inverter will give more precise temperature control and may be quieter in operation, but contrary to common belief are not necessarily more efficient than modern fixed speed units. Actron do make inverters (Platinum series) which compete with the top end Daikin Premium inverters, but if you are shopping around you should look at some of the other reputable ducted brands including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic and maybe LG - may be cheaper than Actron or Daikin.

We are looking at replacing our Carrier (3-phase, 16 Kw) ducted system because it has never been reliable and for the third year has broken down due to a broken discharge (from compressor) line. Thought I saw somewhere that Actron (outside) units were quite noisy, can anybody comment?

The statment that the Acton Air units are noisy, is a mater of comparison, we Had a York system prior that was very noisy, but hte Acton unit in comparison is quite and is not running all the time.
Hope this helps.
