Comprehensive Car Insurance- the most difficult to deal with insurer I have ever experienced in 24 years of insuring my cars

- took my car in to the same mechanic twice to have it inspected & quoted, the second time unnecessarily. Allianz misled me by saying an additional independent inspector would review it & I needed to attend on time, no additional inspector was involved - just the same mechanics that did the first review.

Automatically renewing a Policy
Comprehensive Car InsuranceAutomatically renewing a Policy is acceptable when there's no change to the policy. If you're increasing the cost of your existing policy shouldn't you at least communicate this change to the holder. Increasing the cost of the policy from $107 to around $150 and subsequently change again to $175 all within 2 years. It appears that rather than retaining the customer and applying a no claims benefit is applicable.

Comprehensive Car Insurance6 months and still no progress or resolution. Nobody returns my call. Every phone call I get contradicting informations.
The average waiting time on the line for claims is over 40min to talk with anyone. I called over 20 times in 6 months. No progress.

Comprehensive Car InsuranceAbsolutely fed up with Allianz Insurance. After six months my car is still in getting fixed after a hold up due to Allianz. My policy states I have choice of repairer. They delayed my claim by months trying to get me to take it to a cheap repair centre!!
This accident was caused by another person. Beyond disappointed!!! At this stage out of pocket $800 plus. Would NOT recommend. Have moved our other two cars to RAC Insurance!! Additionally RAC have unlimited car replacement. Allianz only cover a 30 day period of car replacement. Too bad if you are waiting on parts from Germany!
UPDATE: after submitting three seperate complaints and numerous phone calls, I received refund of out of pocket payment.
Will now happily be moving my car to RAC!

CTP Car Insurance (NSW, QLD)Allianz would not give me a refund for a downgrade in class of rego & CTP on my small pantech truck(7 to 6)about $800 as I purchased the truck with the upgrade. So according to them you don't own you rego & CTP when you purchase your vehicle as you are not entitled to claim the refunds on them even thought they are transferred to you???? GO FIGURE!!!

15.4% premium hike in 1 year
Comprehensive Car InsuranceAsked for a justification for the 15.4% premium hike, I was told that some contributing factors eg crime rates, accidents, claims etc in my area and the increase in the market value and car parts costs. I then asked for a fact sheet with data so I could see what has changed in my area seeing the increase was double the national inflation rate. They could not tell me the facts that contribute to the premiums we as customers pay each year. Pretty poor from a corporate level.
Premium Computation
Comprehensive Car InsuranceHave been with Allianz for years and years. I am also an Actuary. The renewal this year gave me a nightmare because the premium computation did not make any sense. The premium is dependent on several variables one of which is the Comprehensive Agreed Value. Not sure if there was a glitch in their system but the premium was not changing even if the CAV is changed

Comprehensive Car InsuranceMost people have roadside assist cover already (eg. either through auto-club membership or car manufacturer's giveaways - the quality and extent of the service under the policy is in reality considerably poorer than owners already have available more generally in the market, so the Allianz benefit is seen as a waste of money. It would be more practical transferred to an 'optional' benefit, thus reducing the base premium - paying for ineffective/non-relevant add-ons makes the overall cost of product less competitive to market.

Comprehensive Car InsuranceEverything after you sign up is done via phone with people who have a hard time hearing you so you end up repeating a lot.
There is no online system any more, I couldn't even look up my policy as "new" policies don't work in their circa 1998 online system built for netscape navigator. Any claims are submitted by writing a one liner and putting a date, then they call back at odd times for about 3 rings and ask you to call them and sit on hold for... at this point an hour, this will happen multiple times before you even get started.
Pricing about the same as everywhere else, now ... over inflated

You are the only insurance company who insists on assessing in person and every element of my claim you send emails asking me to sort it. Comprehensive Car InsuranceIn Nov I had a car accident (not my fault) and I was impressed and relieved at the speed and efficiency that Allianz handled my claim. We have been with Allianz since I bought my car. So about 5 years. My car was sent to an authorised bodyshop (same brand as my car), the car was fixed within about 3 weeks. No hassle, no stress. Amazing! This month I was in another car accident (also no fault of mine), but this time around the experience was and still is horrible. ... Read morening. My husband had to call the Audi claim hotline, just to get them to put us through to Allianz. After giving the details, Allianz gave us a small “authorised” bodyshop that I need to take my car to, not the same place I took the car 2 months ago. My husband questioned this but they couldn’t give an answer as to why this is the case. He said that we would prefer the bodyshop we took the car before, and they gave us a five step process (red tape), in order for us to do this. Now both of us work full time and effectively this 5 step process involves me taking the car to this bodyshop 3 times for inspection, quotation and resolution. 3 times… And then Allianz does not guarantee that they will agree to and pay the quote. So I took my car to the small bodyshop the same day of the accident to ensure efficiency and the people that helped me was really nice. They said they need to wait for the claim to come through but took my details. A week after this, having heard nothing from Allianz, I get an sms to call Allianz with a reference number, which I did. When I got put through, Allianz asked me if I am insured… Ummmm what? Do they have a clue that I am actually THEIR client??? The day after the bodyshop called me, they have the parts available and first available booking is in March… WHAT??? The first time around my car was taken in a few days after the accident. Now I have to wait 7 weeks?? Yes, fair enough the car is drivable, but the door is so dented and scratched that it is actually a hazard … It is easy to cut your hand on there. My husband had to call Allianz as they didn’t communicate to us where they are at with the claim. We also have to pay the excess, because Allianz is having a hard time with the other insurer, even though Allianz ADMITS that the accident is not my fault. This has been a horrible experience, I am filled with anxiety and have to drive a car that can potentially hurt me if I am not careful. Stay away from them. They are some of the more expensive insurers, and in the end it did not pay off.Wonderful service

Efficient and courteous in all aspects, from renewal queries/alterations to policies, all the way through to the process of making a claim (which could be a nightmare in other hands!). Comprehensive Car InsuranceCalled today to inquire about a rate hike for my renewal of my CMP (130 to 160 for no particular good reason) - they said they had to adjust to postcode. The initial postcode they had listed I moved from this year, so I apologised and asked to update my postcode and give new quote. They did so, hiking my CMP rate to $225 per month instead, demanding I immediately pay for the remaining balance this month despite my policy stating $130. I said this is insane, aami and budget direct I already inquired to who we're happy for $120/130 per month at my postcode so why should it be $225. The service rep was indifferent and just told me to pay up. I immediately sacked them and went with budget direct. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY !

Best way to judge an Insurance company

I had a claim this past year where MyCar was the innocent party and the claim was subject tosubrogation.notwithstanding that, Ihad claim acceptance, approval, repairer and hire car all completed without any issues. Comprehensive Car InsuranceWhen signing up I made a simply error in my answer and when I tried to make a claim I corrected the answer. Allianz rejected my claim and said it is a disclosure issue. They do anything to avoid liability. The biggest slap in the face was when I received an email the next morning saying my premium has been reduced by a dollar. Reducing service and increasing cost
Comprehensive Car InsuranceThe insurance just keeps going up. There is no advantage to having house and car insurance. I am now working from home so not using my car much and there is no difference to the amount I pay. I moved from near the city to regional and there is no difference to how much I pay. Now they are taking away the only advantage of the policy which was included road side assistance. It like increasing the police by not just the annual amount but over $600+ even more a year. Will not be renewing with them again.
Absolutely infuriating experience with your call centre staff
Comprehensive Car InsuranceI called prior to renewal requesting to add wheelchair lift and increase agreed value. I wanted my car insured for $53000 plus $15000 for chair and lift. Both calls staff advised that the sum inured was not allowed. So I requested to speak with the underwriting team. As this was a legal modification. Once I requested this they came back and said we can only increase it to $63k inclusive of the chair lift. They said they couldn’t select the MY16.5 as it’s not an available option. I ended up giving up and was going to look for another company.. however when I received the documents again it showed a sum insured value $72k so I just accepted the information was correct and reinsured my car. I had one claim from when a vehicle hit my car. This took so long to get fixed and had to return my car several times before they got the repair finished. However at times still having problems with drivers side mirrors and squeaky noise.Not Happy

As I was quite busy, I did not have time to shop so I renewed my policy. I have since been offered roadside assist on any new policies with Suncorp that I take out.
