No. It's all based on sensing the weight of your baby. It's amazing how sensitive and how it can pick up a heart rate through a mattress!

Hi, unfortunately in most cases the vibrations of a ceiling fan or an air conditioner will impact on the performance of the sensor pads; though this varies with each instance.

Hi there, wouldn't radio music playing for the baby will activate this monitor since is sound activated?

Like the other comments say, you can change sensitivity levels which can help stop the monitor activating. Hope this helps. :)

Do we have to use the movement monitor i.e.. the sensor pads? We like the look of this monitor but just for the sound and other features.

You can purchase the same baby monitor without the sensor pads. It will save you some money too if you are not going to use them.
