What a waste of money. Not even old enough for landfill
Bought one three years ago, then on one of my trips, burning smell. I unplugged immediately but it was too late! Diagnosis after three month wait for repair on warranty: burnt motherboard. Finally got a replacement which I didn’t use as much. Then in July 2018 on a car trip to Townsville, blown fuse in car. I replaced fuse and again blown fuse. At home I plugged in battery pack to charge with 220V and noticed it wouldn’t charge. I’m guessing it’s not even worth it’s plastic for recycling. Stay away from it! I’m going to buy another one from their competition.

Absolute cheap rubbish
One of the worst products I have had any thing to do with.
Fuses always loose no contact, had it returned for warranty work this took 2 months.
I would never recommend this unit to anyone bloody disgraceful I would hope somebody reads this review so they don’t waste good money on this product.

Great product
I’ve had my ark pak for around 2 years now and it’s been awesome. I use it to run my 60litre Engel as dual battery isn’t an option with me and it hasn’t missed a beat. I use a cheap 160w solar panel and it charges to 100% every day while running the fridge at 2 degrees. They are expensive but also worth the money.

Works great to run fridge and lights
Love the Ark PaK - my car doesn't have a duel battery and this was a great cost effective and transportable option. The PaK come in and out of my car to run lights, charge phones and run a fridge while camping.
I have recently bought a 160w solar panel which powers the battery on longer trips - love the screen that shows battery levels and power usage.

Not ideal for remote camping
I've had the Original ArkPak for sometime now (since 2014) and while it hasn't been used a lot I've always had a suspicion it wasn't quite as good as it's portrayed.
I am currently conducting some trials to see if I will keep it or get rid of it. The trials consist of a 105ah AGM battery hooked up to a 250w solar panel 24/7, For the 1st week it was connected through the anderson plug connection and it kept the battery fully charged, with no appliances running off it, The following week I ran a small (15w) compact fluoresecent globe 24/7 for ...Read more
a week through the 150w Invertor, by the end of the week the battery was down to 15%, The next week I plugged the ArkPac into mains power to get the battery back up to full charge, the solar panel was disconnected. The next week I connected the solar panel up to the external battery terminals with no appliances and the battery was kept fully charged. The next week, still connected to the external battery terminals, I ran the same 15w compact fluoro light 24/7 for a week, the battery dropped to 58% by the end of the week trial. This week I've removed the light and left the solar panel connected to the external battery terminals and the battery was kept fully charged. I'm reluctant to connect my fridge to it and trial it for a week given the results so far. The manual says that when you connect to the external battery terminals it by-passes the 7 Stage charger, I'm not convinced of that as the display still shows battery status throughout the week trial. I know I'm not the most skilled of campers but my feeling is the 7 Stage charger is not ideal for remote camping as it cycles too many times to allow the solar panel to do its job of charging up the battery, the ups and downs take away the opportunity to get maximum charge into the battery for as long a period as you can so that it gets you through the night. When your out remote camping you don't have the luxury of plugging into a main supply to top-up the power, something more to think about. Don't get me wrong, the ArkPak works well to protect the battery and give it a longer operating life but surely a properly maintained battery (one that's monitored and kept charged up at all times etc) will still last the distance if it were connected either directly to a solar panel that has a suitable regulator and/or another charger that doesn't have as many charging cycles as the ArkPak, but my trials are leading me towards getting rid of the ArkPak. Feel free to provide advice if I'm doing it wrong or if you know of another way to maintain full charge in a battery being used in an ArkPak or just share your thoughts. Lastly, I would rather be wrong than right, coz if I'm right then I've made a bad investment choice and will loose money when I go to sell it off.4 comments

and allows the solar panel to charge the battery through the solar panels' regulator. I plugged my fridge into a 500 watt inverter connected to the external battery post connectors, so far so good, it ran for 6 days with a 25% loss in battery power (more loss than I expected or had hoped for) before an electrical issue developed which stopped this trial continuing.
