A poor purchase. I will return it to Bunnings.

I bought this pedestal fan on Arlecs previous electronics reputation. IMHO this is a disgrace.
1. It consumes only 30 watts of electricity p.h. but it is so underpowered. Even on its top fan setting of 8 it barely has the air output for a 4metre by 4 metre bedroom.
2.You turn on the fan and the timer and you get air as expected but also a bright blue LED light which pulsates every 15 seconds and which (according to other reviews on these pages) cannot be turned off. Reminds me of Colditz. Why the designers would include such a feature is beyond me or why the Bunning's buyers didn't recognise the unnecessary feature.

Purchased in March 2021.

Switching off the annoying blue led

published

This is an excellent, quiet fan with just one annoying problem - the wifi connection led.
I managed to switch off the led by redoing the wifi pairing process with the app using a wrong password for the wifi network. The process finds the fan on the network, switches off the light, and then attempts to connect the fan to the network, which fails because of the wrong password, and the led stays off. Only downside is you cannot operate the fan via the app.

FANTASTIC fan cannot turn off annoying bright blue wifi light

published

Fan is very well thought out, great quality build, super quiet just the best fan i have ever owned and its electrically efficient at only 30 watts of power as well! Perfect fan right? WRONG!
You cannot turn off the bright blue wifi light. At worst it flashes constantly because you have not paired it to your wifi and at best you get a solid blue light once you have paired.
WHAT WERE YOU THINKING ARLEC? You went to the trouble of having a feature to turn off all the lights at night but you forgot about one!!!!!!!
I will be returning my fan to Bunnings for a refund and purchasing another fan hopefully as well built and quiet.
Who the hell needs their fan connected to the internet anyway?

Works quietly

The blue light can be turned off, first download the app and manually search for the device while the fan is in pairing mode when the app is searching the light will go off and you can still run the fan. Don't connect it to your WiFi! Otherwise the light will stay on. Good fan apart from this design fault when people want to sleep without a bright led in their face.

Easy to put together from flat pack

Fan is great easy to put together. Works well and quiet. Problem-blue bright display lights shine and one of three lights blinking all the time.
Arlec might be wise to consider dimming feature for this. It’s just plain irritating or cut off switch for lights. Thanks.

Love it wouldn't be without it

I love this fan, had heaps of settings and a timer. Super easy to use and I love the remote. Only down fall is you can't dim the LCD display which is terrible for night time use, I just tie my tshirt around it

Bright wifi light cant be turned off!

published

What appears to be a nice quiet fan is useless if you want to use it in your bedroom at night. It is not possible to turn the bright blue wifi light off. I contacted the product support number and they confirmed that it cannot be turned off. Silly oversight! I will be returning it to Bunnings

I tried everything...short of removing the led. I took mine apart and blacked out the led, however the wireless will still be broadcasting. Too bad, other than this annoyance and totally unnecessary feature, a great fan. Giant fail ARLEC!

No need to disassemble. Download the arlec app and scan for your device, it's through the scanning process that the pairing lights stops blinking yay. Once the blinking light stops you can stop the WiFi scan and use the fan without the annoying led just keep it plugged into AC. Solved!

Thanks for that advice Aaron. I returned my fan today to Bunnings for a refund without any difficulty. But back to the fan.... I am 72 years old. I have avoided smart phones cos they beat me to death on a tech savvy scale so "pairing" a meal fan, as you suggest is akin to a "dark side of the moon reality." All I wanted was an air-mover not a Colditz like situation when the fan's LED strobed at me every few seconds to confirm that it was moving air and additionally strobed me into wakefulness as Arlec's reward for my patronage.

How to turn off flashing blue light

it will stop flashing whilst pairing with a device and then stay on solid. you cannot turn it off, i have already spoken to ARLEC Australia and they confirmed this. i myself took the panel apart and painted black on the offending wifi flashing blue led, put it back together and hey presto....all fixed. no flashing blue light. I certainly would not recommend this as it will void your warranty and you may possibly damage something else on the motherboard.

If you're buying one from Bunnings, don't forget to grab some gaffer tape. Sorted.

Simple fix on the very annoying wifi light is cut a piece of aluminium cooking foil 5cm wide by 3cm deep and affix over all the lights with sellotape.
