Do you have to use the cover on the lower cutlery rack? I’ve just purchased this dishwasher and discovered that all of my cutlery pieces are too wide to fit through the holes on the cover. Without the cover on the receptacles for the cutlery are much shallower than my previous dishwasher and I wonder if they will stay in.

Do you mean the cutlery 'basket'. I've never used the cover and cutlery has never fallen out.

I need a dishwasher that really dries the dishes. The Asko D5456WH was recommended to me by the salesperson for the turbo fan for drying. Just want to know does it really work and how noisy is it when the fan is running? Our new kitchen is in an open plan living/dining area (only living area in the house) and also only 5 metres (2 walls) from a holiday flat I rent out, so don't want it to be too noisy.

The dishwasher is very quiet. I set the programme to Eco. Some items were not quite dried, so once the dishwasher finished, I left it for quite some time so everything dried. The superseded model was much better regarding programming. I'm not super happy with this one. Very expensive and not up to scratch. I'm seriously contemplating replacing it and not with an Asko.

Deb

Certainly not noisy when it doesn't work, after only 3 years! Very expensive machine, nothing extraordinary about it in any way, and I most definitely don't recommend any Asko product! Forget anyone being able to help you with fixing it.

When you fill the rinse aid container, approx how many wash cycles do you get before having to refill it ?

I'm sorry, I've never counted. The container seems to take a lot of rinse aid. I use the dishwasher probably every second or third day (there's only two of us) and so far I've used one 500ml bottle and three quarters of a second 500ml bottle of rinse aid. I've had the dishwasher since end of August. I hope this helps.

Harrydubya

Thanks Rosemary. Yes, I also thought the container took a lot of rinse aid. Like you, there is also just the 2 of us and we wash about every third day. Guess I'll probably use a similar amount to you.

Purchased our ASKO D5456 one month ago and am extremely happy. Super quiet and everything comes out spotless and as dry as . I use the normal setting, with the high temperature and longer drying options activated. Make sure you use Rinse Aid, it does make a difference. 5 Star rating

Asko D5456 None of the buttons on the touch control panel work. I've gone through the various procedures for the Start/Stop button functionality but to no avail. The problem sometimes fixes itself if I leave it overnight, or for a few days. But seriously is this what should expect from a non-budget machine??

Basically means the dishwasher is ready to start - so close the door and press start. If you have done that then I suspect there is a failure in the circuit that monitors the door closure and for that you would need a technician. Hope that helps or clarifies.

ASKO D5456 XL DISHWASHER TOP ARM REMOVAL (Cutlery Tray)

This does not seem to do anything and arm does not unscrew or release. Have tried with pressure and without.
Any ideas?

Hi Mark. Never encountered this. Went and tried to remove the arm per instructions but it is clear the instructions are wrong. I can feel the mechanism trying to engage when pushed up and turned anticlockwise, but it simply wont engage and allow the removal. Suggest a query to Asko Technical Department.

Hi. We have Asko D5456 dishwasher, new purchase. Has been great until tonight - lights turn on & able to select program however when I press start button, nothing happens. Have held button down for a few seconds & nothing. Also tried to deactivate child lock - not that it was ever set. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think turn the power off at the mains and remove the plug. Wait at least 10 secs. But before you do this ensure you have turned the dishwasher off at its own power switch on top of the door.

I think when you reconnect the power and switch it on it will have reset to the "ready to go" position.
I had a similar problem but I will say I have also started changing my mind about the dishwasher. It is not as bad as I first thought and it is probably a good competent machine. I still prefer the F&P dishdrawer but I suspect qualfty with manufacture in Thailand under the Chinese owners, Haier is not good.

I am currently designing a new home and specifying 2 x Bosch waist height drawer washers. They are expensive (and made in China) but I think the quality and reliability is there. Our needs are primarily for 2 adults (kids gone).

Hope that is helpful

Chris

Our machine is doing the same thing as above. At the end of the cycle, the dishes have food spots on them and there is scunge at the bottom near the filter. I have also noticed that the centre and top spray arms dont turn during the early part of the cycle. Is this normal? (sorry to hijack your post Stephen and good luck). :)

PeterC

You would have it sorted now but ours was doing the same. It was a faulty pump which wasn't pumping enough water through to spin the spray arms. 150km trip to repair (rural NSW) then $370 repair job.

My new Asko D5456SS (bought on 24.10.2018) has somehow become set on child lock and all attempts at releasing it have been futile. I cannot start the dishwasher without pressing the 'HIgh temperature' and 'Long dry' buttons simultaneously. I have tried leaving the machine switched off in the hope that it would reset - to no avail. This problem seems to be more complex than I expected. Any help?

The Asko dishwasher fits under a kitchen bench and in a 60cm x60 cm space.
The dimension specifications are in the product brochure so interested consumers Chan measure and check the position for the dishwasher before purchasing .

Can anyone tell me if the D5456 has a shorter cycle than 2:20 minutes? This replaced our D3122 which gave us many years of great service. I wanted the model below this but being in rural NSW the only option immediately available was the D5456. This is the 4th ASKO product we've purchased but I am so disappointed with this dishwasher overall. Thanks.

Yes. I use the daily wash with extra drying time and it takes 1.49. I previously had a D 3??? series and I believe it was a much better machine. Didnt have these stupid plastic things to position the racks and you could fit thicker dishes in the outerside of the bottom rack. Just trying to find out what actual temp they was at these days so I can put a cleaner through my machine.

Charmie
Charmie

Thanks Marg. Also dislike the unnecessary tall 'handle' on the front of the lower tray - only proves an obstruction to the cutlery basket. I find I am washing up in the sink more often as a saucepan that has cooked cauliflower or a plate that has only had toast on it simply doesn't need 2 hours dishwashing. I see program temp minimums from 48-60 degrees to maximums 60-70? Good luck!

I've been a big fan of Asko dishwashers since I bought my first one in 1980 (I've had three since then). Though I have to say I'm less pleased with this one (which I bought about 3 or 4 years ago) than the previous models I've had. It's a bit noisier than I would have liked (very hard to test this before you buy) and it's only started cleaning really well since I've been using tablets.

The reason I'm writing is that somehow my machine seems to be stuck on child lock (at least I think that's what's happened) - when I turn it on the LED shows up LOC, and I can't get it to start (or even select a program). The only way I can get it to work (fortunately) is. to keep tapping on the two buttons at the bottom (extra drying and heat) and after a while one of them turns off - which means I've somehow temporarily released the child lock and I can get it to start. But it's a fiddle and hardly ideal! Is there some way I can permanently turn off the lock function?

Hey Rich,

Im not to sure about how to help you out because i've never come across this issue.

My only thought would be to turn it off at the power point and maybe that will reset it.

Best of luck

The product specification information will tell you this. The foot plates at the base of the machine do allow some adjustment. I suggest you visit a store and measure it. All the best.

Mrs Sue Beckwith
Mrs Sue Beckwith

Hi Waddy. I believe that model only comes in one height - 82cm.
According to the installation instructions the adjustable feet on the bottom of the unit can be adjusted to accommodate a recess height of between 82 and 87.5 cm.
So the bottom of your bench can only be a maximum of 87 cm as you need to keep at least 3mm clearance between the top of the dishwasher and the bottom of your bench.
As Dani has explained if you download the dishwasher manual from the ASKO site it will give you all the dimensions you need and if you visit to a store (with all your dimensions) they will be able to tell you if it will fit or not. Happy hunting.

Morning, I'm still undecided as to whether my new asko (purchased mid year) has won me over. I've come from a cheap dishlex and thought spend more and get a great product but so far i seem to be always cleaning out my spray arms (using lots of water in the process, getting corn pieces out ), the dishes are sometimes covered in cream residue. I'm wondering if washing by hand may get me a cleaner dish, as i'm putting dishes through umpteen times to get them clean. Am i doing something wrong, is there something wrong with my machine?? I would hate to have to sell and buy something else, but at this point that's the way i'm heading.

i'm no expert, but I've never come across a dishwasher that can handle corn kernels. Your old one must have been magic. I always scrape bits off my dishes prior to washing and when that cream residue starts I put through a cleaning cycle with a select brand dishwasher cleaner to remove the build up of fats and scale (about every 4 months). I've never had a problem with my ASKO (had it for about 12 months now) and I only ever have to clean the filter if the kids haven't scraped properly. I use about 2/3 of the amount of powder recommended on the packet. I just use any old powder that happens to be on special. I'm not sure this is helpful.

nicole
nicole

Thanks Morrissey, thanks for your feedback, but i was referring to the filter system allowing particles i.e corn to get into the spray arms. Never had that problem before. The particles have always just ended up in the filter.

I have an Asko D3121 dishwasher that has been great performer up until today. It won't stop (draining). The power button and the stop/start don't work. The only to turn it off is by up plugging the power.
Any assistance will be gratefully appreciated.

1 answer
Asko
ASKO A.Asko

Hi Their,

Kindly first turn it off from the mains, also turn off water taps before checking for anything. Secondly with this issue one of the possible reasons could be a blocked Drain, you can check the filters inside the machine and the drain pipe (if you have access to checking it) If there is a blockage, clear it and after clearing it leave the machine turned off for 24 to 48 hrs to see if the water internal dries out and the machine starts working again. If this doesn't work you will need a tech to attend. If you would like to book a tech or need further assistance, please feel free to contact our after sales service team on 1300 002 756
