Ausgrid Useless but happy to collect $300 for paperwork
Ausgrid came out to inspect a lose attachment of power to a house. They took my phone number but never called back, only left card to say it's my problem to fix. I have to pay a special electrician about $700 to fix it then $300 to submit paperwork to Ausgrid to prove it has been fixed correctly. Take some responsibility and fix and certify it yourself. You are wasting time risking lives and ripping customers off.
Intrusive lights
An increasing number of street lights are being installed in the Kuring-gai Council area. In addition there is a series of articles to suggest that these lights improve personal, property and in particular pedestrian and vehicle safety. From an economic perspective it utilises excess power which would otherwise be wasted at night time. A good blackout reveals how much natural light is emitted and night. Bright street lights intrude into our homes, this motivates us to by curtains, blinds, venetians and air conditioners. Lack of fresh air in our...

Our recent experience with Ausgrid has been extremely pleasant, they had a team of professional engineers working tiredlessly in extreme heat conditions to restore power quickly for the affected areas in Bankstown. While they had to dig up the council driveway connected to our property which caused the inconvenience for us, however we were extremely impressed with the professionalism of an engineering officer (JA) from the Homebush brand. Throughout the repair process, he provided us with regular updates of the work progress and was able to ad...

Unreliable Streetlight Repairs
The streetlights on the main road near where I live regularly doesn't work and sometimes 20+ streetlights not working. I had to keep reporting the same set of streetlights not working all the time because no one else reports them. Recently I reported three times the same streetlight near my house not working. Each time Ausgrid sent me email stating repairs has been completed but it wasn't repaired at all. The third time round then it was repaired. And now the main road 40+ streetlights are not working again. Really getting annoyed by the continuous same streetlights not working and I have to keep reporting them.

Poor restoration of private property
Ausgrid damaged our brick garden edge with their large truck when trimming trees to keep their electrical lines clear. it took 3 months of haggling before they agreed to restore the brick edging. When they finally did the job, they threw the old concrete into our garden and left the bricks with cement all over them. It was a simple job but obviously a hassle for them. This resulted in 8 families in our complex - their customers - being very p!ssed off. Totally unnecessary.

I’d had no hot water for a couple of days when I figured out the problem was at the meter. I called Ausgrid at 10.51am and received a call from the technician at 11.35am fo say it was fixed. Outstanding!

Disgusting service
Sparks flying out of connection to house. Ausgrid handed me a card stating from the 1st Jan 2018, they no longer can reconnect, have to call a Mon -Fri no or look on a web site that doesn’t exist.
Very stressful situation, and my life and others were in danger as flames were underneath the eves. Appalling service, numerous phone calls and a great deal
Of anxiety
Rude inspectors! Worst ever customer service!
Provide so called ""regular"" inspection (every 8 years) on residential powerline connection. Customer service ignored customer's questions and replied with irrelevant information.

Delaying solar credits.
Ausgrid advise that their new accounting system doesn't provide for solar credits to be paid without customers having to phone them, each and every quarter, to claim refund. It is amazing that they can debit customers accounts on due date but insist on holding on to any credits payable. A nice little earner! With all the profits they make surely they could afford a decent accounting system.
I have tried to reason with Ausgrid, even offering to supply standing instructions in writing, however it is all too dificult for them to facilitate any request.
Am I the only person effected by this setup?
Seems like a case to be made to the Ombudsman.
Company unwilling to make any effort to facilitate reasonable requests.
Ausgrid NSW Residential Electricity Pricing
Ausgrid is owned by NSW Govt.
IPART determines electricity price for eg. Energy Aust. though reviews & advises Ausgrid pricing ....Most details of the Ausgrid costings estimates are confidential.
IPART doesnt provide NSW consumers with a price comparison on line though I can find this detail for Qld & Vic....
Ausgrid charges 19% markup to residential users (which is 30% of 'their market') on the grounds that... " is reflective of the amount of assets required to service these customers". they have a huge network of old 70's infrastructure (eg.500,000 poles) .
Ausgrid makes more than 77% of 'their' revenue from all of us residential users in NSW. = $2000million. minus Trasgrid 'revenue' of $794.5m....

Ausgrid Price Incentive "Ausgrid’s network tariffs and charging parameters provide both short term and long term incentives to customers to modify consumption patterns in line with efficient use of network services.
