Amazing people and great value

Fantastic service
I called the helpline to compare my existing plan to something that would be more compatible with the new solar system we installed. The service and attention to detail was great, running the numbers and working out the best plan. Gone with the local savers option and it looks like it will do the job extremely well.

Great Company - Easy clear bill - good feed in feed out rates for Solar
It has been Great! -I moved to Energy locals when i installed Solar, and have been with them for a year and a half. i'm happy with the feed in/out rates $ (in Sydney) - and the fact that there is none of that discounting crap that is rife in the other energy companies. They have an easy to understand bill!
They have been easy to talk to when i have had questions early on when i joined up.

Oh no! They're not perfect.
Who would have ever thought a young business trying to provide customers with a fair and fresh approach to electricity could ever make a mistake from time to time? Who needs 100% carbon offset power when you might save a few dollars a year giving your money to a company who's happy watching co2 heat the planet? After all, when you're running your air-con 9 months a year who's the biggest winner? Same old story really, people want a change for the better unless it's a minor inconvenience to them. If you really want change then shut up about the small stuff and let the people who are actually trying to make a different do their thing. Peace!!

Happy with the prices. They are not nasty like other companies I have dealt with.

Have been with Energy locals for a year and a half but am now moving, so thought I'd look around again to compare with other companies. I will probably go back to Energy locals as they've been straightforward to deal with, have a great green focus, and are a small provider with good value. Happy to support the business and put my money behind renewable and carbon neutral energy.

Higher charges than I signed up for
I switched to energy locals after comparing retailers on the government comparison website. My agreed peak rate was 25 cents including gst, but on my first bill the peak rate was 32 cents plus gst. I phoned energy locals and they refused to change the rate to my agreed rate - they wouldn't even meet half way.
EDIT: turns out the first customer service guy was inexperienced and the manager is now fixing things. Rates aren't that good though.

all the tariffs that the various distributors publish but the distributors do close some of them off to customers moving onto them. It's therefore unhelpful if they're listed by the Govt comparison site as options. I will dig into this and see if we can remove them while still remaining compliant with the rules that require us to publish them all. Good rates. Disappointed by email response rate and bill information.
The service itself and the rates are excellent.
However, I have generally received a 50% response rate on emails. I recently inquired into my bill via [email protected]. The inquiry was a simple question regarding whether I was in credit or in debt, as the email I received said that my charges where -$56 (which I interpret as meaning I am ahead by $56) while the attached invoice stated that I owed $56.

Best Decision I Have Made! Futuristic company
I have had such a great experience moving to this company, & initially was driven by their vision of making the world a better place, and using clean energy.
Not only is this product great for the environment, but it is also cheaper, and they are so easy to deal with. Their bills and information are extremely simple, you don't receive thousands of pages of small print, instead, you get simple communication that makes sense.
Well done to this company, and I can't wait to see what they do next. Please get gas, so I can move to your gas too.

not that cheap
I have been with energy locals for six months and well have had bill shock. My last winter bill was 200.00 more than my last energy provider and the final bill I received the controlled usage has jumped from 25.00 to 90.00 my electricity usage was only 225.00 but was slugged 208.00 in charges supply charge controlled usage and membership. Not good value at all. I had a 500.00 feed in tariff which has pretty much disappeared with these charges

Excellent service & very happy with the rates, & also gives back to the community so a win all round.
I researched into providers prior to moving and there were a few reasons I went with Energy Locals; their rates were competitive & simple to work out, a carbon neutral policy, 100% Aussie co, & being able to give back to the community. I found the setting up process easy, friendly & competitive & have now been a customer for almost 12 months with no problems other than those from the grid itself. Despite offer from other companies I've no reason to go anywhere else.

Don't do it
Put prices up before I even got my first bill. Changed back to AGL didnt realise I was with energy locals for another month (AGLs fault there) but I was not waiting for a bill due to this completely missed the bill within 3 days of due date found out about the bill when I started getting threats that it was going to a credit collection agency within days and receiving continuous phone calls from the call centre dispite bill being paid they havent even given it enough time to clear. There is not even 1 upside to this scamming company

d. We commit to changing prices only once per year in line with the approval of new network costs by the regulator (these make up about half the bill in many cases). Your account was passed to our collections partner 20 days after the final bill was sent. I agree this was a bit quick and we're changing that process. I also checked to see that we'd received the payment you mentioned you'd made. No transparency
Feeling totally betrayed. I have been a customer for 4 months in that time my daily supply charge has increased 4 times from the initial quoted charge of $1.52 with pay on time bonus rate of $1.32 to the current rate $2.18. At no time was I informed of these price increases, where is your much touted TRANSPARENCY. I was sent an email about new plans quote because of open disclosure. When I rang I was told I would be better off on a new plan where I had to pay a membership fee and offered only 1/2 the bonus I am currently on as my daily supply...Read more

Bad experience, however my issue was resolved directly by the CEO.
I did have a one-star review up, but once Adrian the CEO contacted we sorted it out.
I had a problem with my plan changing when I moved and I didn't seem to have the ability to take the plan I was on with me, and the new plans have a type of 'pay on time' discount in the price. When I explained to Adrian that it wasn't what I wanted from an electricity company, and it wasn't brought to my attention when I moved my service, we got it sorted out.

Rather than potentially earning money from usage, we charge a fixed additional daily charge which is refunded in full on the following bill. If so, the Tesla software may send energy from the grid to your battery but don't worry - you won't pay for this and you'll see credits for this grid charging on your bill.
