Hopeless Process

I cancelled during the cooling off period. One email, 5 phone calls and nearly 6 weeks later I still have not seen any of the $890.46 refund due within 3-5 business days.

High Payments, Little Service

I have made regular payments for platinum service to Australian Unity for years. My doctor requested a blood test be performed while I was in hospital to gauge the severity of a chronic illness I suffer from, and I was later told, after a drawn out, bureaucratically mind boggling process that Australian Unity did not cover me. Their advertising reads, "Platinum hospital is the highest level of hospital cover we offer and popular with those looking for complete piece of mind." What I received was expensive form of nothing.

Horrible service, absurd requests to cancel.

I didn't even use this service, and they did not wish to cancel the coverage and kept on charging me for nothing even though I was out of Australia and I was not living or working there. They kept telling me that in order to cancel I had to give them an Australian bank account. I don't have one, cause I was just a tourist in Australia, I never worked there, nor had a residence there. I kept explaining this to them, told them they can keep the money, I don't need a refund, just stop charging me from now on since I was no longer in Australia. But they kept on charging my Romanian card, because I didn't have an Australian bank account. Absurd service!

Terrible product knowledge and customer service

Signed up in March and asked a question about starting date in May,after several hours on hold and transfers back and forth between 'wrong departments'. Many issues of not being able to find my account even though I had a member/policy number.
Finally reached someone who took my details for a callback which never occurred. After advised in writing to cancel during cooling off period, only to be notified of another callback.
Policy looks good on paper, but how can you trust them if they can't even find you after they have taken your money and set you policy certificates? Heaven help anyone trying to make a claim.

Avoid at all costs.

This review is about the Australian Unity Home Care service. It seems issues with this organisation are endemic. Their carers are great but I've found their management incompetent. They showed no consideration for the care of my 95 year old mother who is high risk at a time of national crisis. They postponed essential provisions for months putting her health and well being at risk. I couldn't even contact them to complain. They only provided a general operator number who wasn't able to even provide a complaints number. When they did contact me they simply aren't prepared to account for their lack of performance and to seek means to resolve and improve their service. Avoid at all costs.

Terrible Customer Service - Lack of transparency - Do Not Use

We have not had a great experience, their start point seems to be that they want to get out of paying you and they seem to look for ways not to help. We bought the top level policy and paid for 8 years over $500 a month and when I got cancer they were very unhelpful and did not want to cover my hospital bills or my post cancer treatment

Couldn’t renew my mother’s visa over the phone for the past few days. Online password reset not working asking to contact the customer care. Just Hopeless to get things done which should be very simple process.wanted to give less than one star but not possible. Hope respective the streamline the process to be very easy.

WASTE OF TIME

Absolute waste of time. Had me running around like a headless chook trying to get the correct documents, when I call up for an update am told that I need to provide more information. 2 days before my surgery find out that the medical report needs to be filled out by the referring dentist and not the specialist.
10/10 would not recommend

Overseas visitor cover

I got overseas insurance then i found it doesn't cover for visa’s subject to provide health insurance. Its so silly not covering for the one who has to get that. Not recommended at all

Had their insurance for a year. Its expensive but I had extras and stiff so hey understandable right? I was told numerous times that I was covered for things then told I wasn't after the fact. Their complaints team are rude and unapologetic. After an hr on hold, a msg to them on fb and a call back I was told my cover was cancelled and that I'd receive confirmation. I haven't received any confirmation so no idea if it's cancelled. Avoid like the plague, their customer service is worse than telstra.

I was told one thing by iSelect and then found out I am not covered by Australian Unity for pre existing conditions. I made it very specific about the terms regarding this and was issued by iSelect that despite what is in the policy brochure we were covered. We are not so I am cancelling the policy. Stay

Very poor customer service

I got confusing answers from different phone support personnel about what my insurance covers for dental surgery. When I finally decided to terminate my account and change my insurer, they made me feel so uncomfortable. Its only when I told them, that I am distressed and I do understand what I am doing because I work in healthcare is when he started to do what I have been asking him to- terminate the account. No one cared to ask how can they help me. Overall, caused lots of frustration, received so much inconsistent advice and unprofessional staff.

Please explain! If I have, say 6, identical procedures at the same time on my lower back but in different places (treating chronic nerve damage) why do you only cover the cost of ONE NOT SIX procedures, leaving me $500 + out of pocket? Does that mean - if I break both my legs in the identical position as a result of a (say) car accident, you only pay for the treatment/repair of ONE leg?

Can someone tell me why my mother in laws overseas cover has gone up 15% this year and 25% last year? I have had top overseas cover since January 2014 with aus unity and it started off at $290. It is now $591! This is a massive strain on our budget. My salary hasn't doubled in that period that's for sure!
