One of the worse company
When you make a claim with them, does not matter how trivial it’s, expect to be faced with unfriendly customer service, suspicious attitude, and unhelpful manner.
I had very bad experience with them and I don’t exaggerate if I say making claim with Direct Budget(auto general) was more traumatic than the accident itself. I strongly encourage you to avoid them.

NOT EASY TO DEAL WITH
Not impressed with this Company, on hold forever on the phone to make a claim or ask a question.
Wish I had stayed with my old insurance company. I forgot to disclose a claim I made quite sometime ago
and they charged me an extra $100 plus because of this. Never deal with this company.

I have used Budget Direct for several years and also have house insurance with them. At the beginning of October I had a friend coming from USA and requested an additional driver. I paid the insurance on my car only a few weeks previously. The request for additional driver was denied. No reason given, so I asked for a reason as there was no driver issues either with me or my friend. use, even though he does not drive my car. They then told me that I had disclosed that he had an accident. I did not. The fellow that informed me as to why the request was denied did and said it was because of his accident, and disclosed the reason to me. I did not think it had anything to do with my car or its insurance, who would? They cancelled my insurance even though it was just fine last year. His car was insured with them for which they paid out about half of what it was worth to replace, with the same model. they are now telling me I can never insure my car with them because of My husbands accident because he lives in the house ( do I have to divorce him to insure my car?) Auto and Generals policy apparently. So I am being punished for someone else's accident. Now I am unable to dive my car and it has sat in the driveway since October 30th uninsured they repaid $180 back of the insurance I paid so as I am a 75 year old pensioner.( I have been driving since I was a teenager and I have never ever had an accident I have driven semis and long distances.) I cannot afford more expensive payments . It is now the end of Feb 2020. I asked the Female I spoke to last, Yesterday Feb 20th I think. if she was treated like this how would she react or feel and does she think it is fair treatment ?her reply I work for insurance. Appalling And Traumatic Experience
Absolutely appalling experience with budget direct after my car was stolen, did not receive any updates for a month. Have had the policy for years and thought the claim would be a no brainer. First they tried to charge me more money on top of my many premium payments because I hadn't advised them of previous demerit points or change of address (which I had multiple times but the useless staff only updated my mailing address). s rejected as a forensic specialist found it to be stolen with a 'correctly coded' key that was found in the car. I said that would be impossible, as the car was towed to my house first and there was no spare key in the vehicle. She then puts me on hold, to discover that I was correct, there was no spare key found but regardless the forensic report does show it was stolen with a key. Then the very helpful woman proceeds to tell me I should then contact my ex-partner to arrange what to do about the outstanding finance on the car!! She was extremely smug and satisfied with the loophole found. So now, as a parent of 2 young children I am paying for a rented vehicle, the outstanding loan on what is probably an irreparable car, then the cost of repairing it if possible, and also all the wasted monthly premiums to budget direct. To top it off, she advised nothing about when the car will be returned to me and I had to call back to be told 'as soon as a tow truck is available'. My property has been sitting with them for a month and it doesn't seem to be of urgency to have it returned to me?!? So once I receive all of the documents by email I will be disputing this in the most public and transparent way possible, and warn friends and family to stay away, and go to nrma or more reputable motor insurance instead.. the higher premiums are worth it. As they say, you get what what you pay for! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING SERVICE
My pensioner mother in law was the not at fault third party driver involved in an accident with a Virgin Insurance customer. (Auto & General are the underwriters for Virgin Insurance). Virgin refused to pay a fair and reasonable total loss market value settlement figure for the vehicle. Virgin have offered a settlement figure $3,000.00 below the market value and I am still disputing the claim 5 months after the incident. Richard Branson you should be ashamed of yourself.

Shocking service and shocking out come.
One star is more than they deserve.
Now entering three weeks for a claim in regards to an accident I didn't cause.
The untruths told to me by the insurance company representative were amazing.
Encouraged to settle for an amount that was ludicrous. Compared the car I insured to an entirely different generation car.
The game that then ensues is let the customer stew. Now going into the third week with no contact.
You may find yourself seeking legal representation on your claim.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL!!!

Terrible Service
Had an accident with a truck more than 2weeks ago and gave it for repair the next day. Auto & General Still havent fixed my car. Every time i call the insurance they claim that the Auto & General repairs Concord is still waiting for the new tyre. I don't understand how long does it take to order and replace it!! Its costing me so much money to catch a cab to work and back home. Also, apparently an insurance Claim agent had left a note that I had already picked up my car even though I have requested towing it back to my place because i cant pick it up and also the fact that it still hasn't been fixed yet. Incompetent and Terrible service!!

Shocking Service! Stay Away! They deserve zero....
Auto & General found 100% against me, despite no witnesses nor dash-cam from the other party - an Uber driver! Even though they said this was bad for business - to find 100% against me! Auto & General claimed that I also needed to prove my innocence by having a dash-cam. This was never in the policy! Auto & General lied to me three times and said that it would be both parties found at fault. But they put it all on me anyway!

Terrible!
Shocking service, nobody from this company ever called me back until i was finally lucky enough to receive help by a lovely lady in disputes. I was made to take my car to their preferred repairer who took over 9 weeks to return the car, and it still isn't fixed properly!

Please be advised that I lodged a claim on the 10th of December 2018, and as at today, there is no sign of my car being completed. Here are the details.

Terrible such a bad experience
I had such a bad experience, such a shame for you guys. Literally you guys give me a dodge. I made a biggest mistake to purchase insurance.
I bought a car, and insurance on the same day someone hit my parked car next day. I have all the receipts and everything. I was not at fault and even still have to bear all the loss. They have deducted premium, taken rego give less amount in terms of market value. I have just bought it a day ago.
They are literally bad service from claims department.

Absolutely disgusting.
Worst insurance company in Australia.
They blatantly disregarded my financial situation after a claim had been filed against me, it took them many weeks to send me out an itemized quote for the cost of repairs, when I received the quote there were item that were replaced that I didn't do damage to, along with the quote it was very expensive, over $3000 worth of damages all for a rear bumper bar that cost $308.65 from Toyota and they still could t justify the cost of the extra $2700.
I have put in a complaint about this company.
I will never be using this company nor will my friends or family.

Pathetic service
A lot of comments basically summarize all I have to say about the experience I had with A&G- slow response, no Assessment till after 2 weeks and once finally getting my car back after 5 weeks still waiting to get paid for the invoiced amount (only a small claim of $1200)-
Budget if you going to stay insurer of the year blah, blah, blah - get yourself another Underwriter to replace the pathetic A&G !!!!

Strictly speaking this company is not insurance company. Do not use this company.
When I made a claim they did not process the claim directly. They requested driving history for five years and claim history from ex-insurance company. And then they request to pay extra premium before processing.
And also they increased premium- 100%. In a word bad company. Do not use this company.

Lovely Customer Service
I called to cancel my policy, funnily enough based on the amount of bad reviews.
Dana was polite, not pushy but gave additional information. She almost kept me there. But for other reasons I have cancelled. I would urge people to seek there own experience. Remembering that people are always going to leave bad reviews. But it takes a lot to leave a good one.
She cancelled the claim, had answers to all my questions, was polite, not pushy and not stroppy about me cancelling as others may be.
Based on this.. I would not rule them out in future.

Unprofessional, Unreliable & Unethical bunch of people
I would rate them negative 5 stars, if I had the option. Highly unprofessional, unreliable and unethical service. They do not respond to any queries and do not provide update on your claim. They took 7 weeks to repair my car accident claim which could have been done in 7 DAYS ONLY. Not only they took this long to repair my car, they also DAMAGED the paint on front bonnet and misplaced the spare tyre in my car. asons trick” for not settling the claim. Lucky I clicked photos at the time of accident to prove that this paint damage was done when car was with the repairers and not before the time of accident. One of their assessor's named [name removed] didn't have the courtesy to respond to my queries. When I pushed for a response his manager [name removed] started to deal with me with a promise that he was trying to change my perception of their company by providing me the best service. Turns out that this manager [name removed] was no different – [name removed] doesn’t pick up the phone and doesn’t reply to his voicemails. Most importantly, they have an email address ([email protected]) listed on their website where you can submit your queries – Surprisingly, no one checks that email box! You will never receive a response from this email other than automated message stating we will reply back as soon as possible (in 100 years). I am a BUDGET DIRECT client and am going to change my insurance company just because Auto and General administers their claim. BIG NO to these unprofessional bunch of people!Similar opinion? Pathetic Service.. All promises but no action
My car was written off, not my fault.
It took several weeks to assess the damage. A&G never returned phone calls as promised or were not available (especially the assessment team ). The car was to be repaired but when extra damage was found it was written off but I received much less than the repair cost. All this took 6 weeks and no hire car was organised by them. 6 weeks now and still matters to be finalised. A very disappointed customer.
