Fixed our Possum problem
This product within 5 days fixed the influx of possums from the adjacent park. The possums were entering the roof space and still we can not find where the little critters gained entry. Our order arrived within 48 hours travelling from Brisbane to Perth with full installation instructions that provided a straight forward installation.
Easy to install, effective, weather proof and inexpensive, all with money back guarantee if non performing.

A Garden Saver
I bought the Repeller to keep possums out of our roof. A friend couldn't keep possums from devouring her roses, so I loaned it to her for a trial. After 2 weeks, she has 3 flowers (never seen before) and all the bare stems are shooting. She returned it yesterday and said she has 2 on order. Great job, Bird Gard. PS - I already have a unit protecting my vegie garden and it works a treat, even keeping those pesky Black Birds from scratching my plants out.
Easy to instal, works well and cheap to run

great product, it is everything it said it was and does.
Brought this product on line and it turned up promtly, very easy to install and fingers crossed we have not had possums back in the roof space, great product, would look at putting a few more around the yard to ward off the other possums and with this product you can use for different pest too.

Effective possum repellant
Noticed immediate results though for a large area you will need to purchase multiple. Still cheaper than pruning back all trees and applying plastic guards to tree branches etc.
Sound is audible when right next to machine but not from a short distance.
Will be a return customer and am recommending to others
Effective immediately

Certainly prevents the possums
A product that does as it says. Deters possums from an area of the garden. The possums have stopped eating the veggies but moved onto the shrubs. Now to remove them from all the garden by buying another possum deterrant! It doesn't annoy our dog or neighbours. You really can turn it on and forget.
Easy to install and foget

Possum deterrent doubt
This device was installed in the roof cavity (8m x 5m approx) on the inside wall at one end. As expected does not deter possums from running around the roof and this would only work if directed at the roof from a nearby tree. Then I would need a device fully-waterproof and somehow power it. Time will tell if it has stopped them from getting in & doesn't worry our dog.
Easy to install.
Cannot estimate the degree of effectiveness.

Works well
Bought unit 3 months ago. Wanted to see how well it works before reviewing. Possum Activity declined sharply within one week. (Less noise on rooftop, less droppings). 3 months later, possums are still gone.
Only complaint is that the device emits a high-pitched audible sound, which my kids can hear in their bedrooms 3 meters away, even with windows closed. Spoke to person at Birdgard, very polite and helpful.
I have adjusted setting to lower the 'power'. Helps, but my kids say they can still hear it - they have sharp ears!

Immediate Results!
We have a large community courtyard that has a large tree in it. The possums loved it, unfortunately they were leaving quite a mess for us each morning with their droppings. We purchased and installed the Possum Deterrant from Bird Guard, and the problem was solved immediately. This is harmless and environmentally friendly solution for everyone. Would highly recommend it.
Environmentally friendly, possum friendly an cost efficient.

Unsure
We have had this running continually for approx 3 weeks and still plagued with possums - the only 2 that have gone are the 2 we caught in a possum trap. There is still possums in ceiling and has not seemed to have deterred them at all, but will continue to persevere.
Does not seem to have deterred the possums :-( Have even seen one sitting next to it !

Awful Customer Service
I was promised 100% money back guarantee. 3 months later our possum problem is worse and now Birdgard do not respond to my emails. I was asked to send a photo 3 months ago, still no reply. Our tree has barely survived the onslaught. Why make promises you can't keep? Thanks Birdgard. We will be seeking consumer affairs advice. Ripped off!
Does not work, Terrible customer service

Bird Gard Possum Deterrent
We were sceptical when we first installed the unit to get rid of possums eating all the rose buds in are garden. We realized that positioning the unit correctly was the key to its proper operation. We would recommend this unit because it is the most humanely possible way to get rid of possums. We will be purchasing more units for our property as they are easy to install and trouble free.
We see possums roaming the garden but don’t come within the ultrasonic wave length, hence our garden of roses is protected. An excellent unit.

gust 27th 2018 Update: Have been using for 8 years Have been using the Possum Deterrent since 2010, to protect our rose buds and other flowers. I am surprised of the negative comments in the recent reviews. It has worked well and is the humane way to get rid of the Possums. Noticed they keep away from the units transmitting range. It has to be set up correctly with no obstacles in the path of transmission of the ultrasonic sound frequency. Just purchased 3 more for a new property we moved in. We have 4 working units on our property at present and keeping Possums away. The unit can even keep cats and dogs away by selecting the appropriate frequency as described in the unit . An excellent Aussie product.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Did not work for us!
We set the possum deterrent up as suggested hoping to protect two trees situated directly opposite, which were being badly affected by possums, and about 5 metres or so away. Two nights later we found three possums happily chewing away directly in line with the machine, and not at all affected by the light or sound emitted.

Is working to perfection!
It took a couple of weeks to set this up to be effective. We don't object to possums but would like not to have a tree near the balcony denuded completely every spring. Having placed the Birdgard about 3 metres away and pointing straight at the main part of the tree it is now working well. The possum even investigated it one evening and scurried away round the corner presumably when the sound came on. Hopefully our small apple trees within range will also be protected. Time will tell.
Instructions easy to understand.
Difficult to put back together after setting the device.

We have since removed as neighbour objected to the sound.

It's a miracle!
We live about 10 km from Adelaide CBD and have done so for almost 56 years. In the last couple of years we have had a lot of problems with possums using the flat roof of our house as a highway to other properties, creating a lot of noise and pollution with the droppings. After having very little sleep night after night, we finally started trapping the possums (5 of them) and releasing them the required 50 metres away. Needless to say, they soon returned to our roof causing a ruckus again. Bought the Bird Gard Possum deterrent and what a relie...Read more
f! After working out how to safely get power to the middle of our roof, it is a miracle! No possums (or cats) on our roof and we can now get a night's sleep. It has been worth every cent of the cost and I would recommend the Possum deterrent to everyone. It does take a little time for the possums to get the idea that they are not welcome, but it's well worth persevering because it does work! It works - that's the important outcome. A bit expensive but worth every centSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

*******off to those pesky possums
Our beautiful mature crab apple was being devastated by possum families. I had tried everything. Possum patrol at night using the hose. Prickly plastic guards on the trunks of the tree. Camphor. Then we installed Birdguard's Possum Deterrent on the garage near the tree. Within a few days it was showing subtle signs of recovery and it is now starting to look lush again! Thanks to Birdguard possums have taken up residence somewhere else!
It works.
Nothing unless they get used to it and start ignoring it!

No more possums!
I purchased the Birdgard- Possum Deterrent to get rid of the possum that were "playing" on my balcony at my holiday home in Rye- Mornington Peninsula. I have been able to sleep right through the night with no issues. I recommend this product for anyone trying to get rid of the pests.
gets rid of the possums without any hassles. Just plug it in and leave it.
I can hear the noise- although my husband cant. I get headaches easily and when I heard it come on- I had the frequency on too high and had to turn it down.

Still possum free
I was a bit sceptical that the sonic waves would really do the trick at our bush-surrounded block...having tried a number of possum deterrents, floppy fencing, dogs patrolling etc, so am happy to say we have not had a pesky possum in the house garden since we bought the repeller.I hope they don't become used to it! Now I'm hoping we will actually get walnuts this year, before the possums eat them all!
The noise doesn't bother us or our dogs, we use it at night only, so the birds are happy too!
not sure how water proof it will be in the long term, and we need it to be outdoors, so it does cop the weather.

Outrstanding success
After having massive trouble with the possums eating all the leaves from our garden plants and leaving extreme amounts of droppings every night, I installed a Possum Deterrent from Bird Gard Pty Ltd.
The result is amazing. The Possums have gone and there is no more clean up required every morning.
This is a most successful device. Just turn on and leave. It automatically activates at night.
easy to install.

No more possum poo on the doorstep!
I admit to being a bit sceptical at first, but I was over the whole possum poo on the doorstep problem so thought I'd give it a go. The first one was a touch faulty - apparently working but we could hear a hum from it and Bird Gard were great about it, replaced it no problem. The second unit is silent and appears to be working well.
It was a slow start - which is I believe not unusual if you have stubborn possums. In fact the first night they poo'ed right in front of it - bigger than ever! But after a couple of weeks now we appear to be ...Read more
winning and I haven't seen poo out the front for a while. Planning to get a second one for the backyard now - get rid of the poo from our back deck! I did consider a couple of the cheaper brands out there but the more I looked the more I realised they were just ripping off Bird Gard - even copying their diagrams and website content... so decided to support the Aussie company - after all we need people who are going to invest in great products not just make cheap copies. If you're looking for something like this I hope you do the same. Pesky possums
I have had an ongoing problem with possums de-foliating the lillipillies in our garden in the northern beaches of Sydney. We have tried leaf sprays and other electronic devices. A couple of weeks ago, I installed a Birdgard possum deterrent and the signs are good. There are hints of new shoots and I am optimistic that we get leaves back on the bushes. The device is compact and was very easy to set up and install.
Compact design with a range of options that provides flexibility in how the device is used. Being weather resistant, it can be located outside.

Hello, I was wondering if the possum repeller would annoy small children at all. I have an 18 month old and so want to ensure this would not affect her or any future newborn children. Thanks.

It will depend on the individual. The device emits a very high frequency sound and I find that I can hear it and it does irritate me after a while, however the rest of my family can't hear it. We only have the device come on at once it's dark (when the possums are out) so it isn't an issue.
I understand that most young children are able to hear it. Our grandchildren can and it doesn't drive them away....... unfortunately (smile). I now wear hearing aids and can hear it. Doesn't annoy me either. I guess if the children, or me for that matter stayed in the zone of the noise, it could be troublesome but you do have to take care on targetting the device for it to be effective. Further, you could hook it up to a timing device to only operate after twilight. I when littlies should be in bed and possums go looking for food. Good luck.

Hi Shauna
Both Mathew and Happierjack have shared their own experiences. The Possum Deterrent emits high frequency sound. The average person will hear something if they are close, but they don't hear the high frequency sound that repels possums. However some people who have good high frequency hearing can hear it and don't always like. Like Mathew says it depends on the individual. The younger you are the more likely you'll have good high frequency hearing. Happierjack explains his grand children can hear but aren't that bothered by it. In other cases children don't like it so best to keep it turned off to after they are asleep. The possum deterrent comes with a 90 day money back guarantee.

My problem is possums in my tiled roof.
If I place the possum deterrent outside, facing back at the roof. In constant mode. Do the ultrasonic waves pass through the tiles or do I need to install it into the roof.
Thanks.
2 answers
The waves don't pass through the tiles, so by having it outside it would actually encourage the possums to move away from the device and probably back to a save haven (ie inside the roof). So to flush them out of the roof you'd need the device inside it
Darren S.Bird Gard
Hello Chris
Mathew is correct, to repel possums from inside a roof space, the device also needs to be inside the roof space. The question is where do you put the device ?. Most people will target where they think the possums are getting in OR where they hear them the most OR where they think the possums sleep during the day. One device has a max range of 10 metres when used inside a roof space. This means one device cant cover an entire roof space, but one device is often successful

Could this be used to deter a very annoying Tom cat?

Mate, I don''t think this product will deter anything. In my opinion a waste of money.
There is a product called Dter which I have found works well.
Come back to me if you can't find it.

Hi mj
the possum deterrent has an adjustable dial that allows you to change the frequencies. To repel possums we use low frequencies, but they don't work against cats. To repel cats, rats etc we use the higher frequencies.
