Bad! Bad! product
Purchased a Bissell Bolt ION-XRT 25V. Used as a secondary vacuum for small spills. It worked well for about 3 mths. After a few months it only ran for 3 seconds at a time. Took it back to the Good Guys and had it repaired (08/2016). It worked OK for two or three times, but was back to running for about 3 seconds again (just long enough to get to full speed). I think it is a safety overload cutout problem. I would not recommend these vacuums to my worst enemy. Bad product!
Purchased in July 2021 for $260.00.

Will not hold charge!
I’m done with this product or any other Bissell products. Very upsetting to see that I am in the same Predicament in these reviews for all the same reasons! I feel like I was scammed and now I’m stuck with a unit barely over a year old that is worthless!
Purchased in December 2021.

Bissell Bolt Edge reach - not worth it :-(. Very disappointing.
First one died after 18 months. Replacement dead after 18 months. This vacuum is only used lightly for quick cleanup of VERY small mess. I can’t state how disappointed I am in this vacuum and wouldn’t want anyone else to experience this.
Purchased in March 2021 at Costco.

Dies after 12 months of use and its a common problem with this product
The product itself is good but the unit shuts off after 30 seconds of use - I believe its a battery issue. It worked well for about a year. I looked online and its a common problem. I would not buy this product. The customer service is terrible too - surprise surprise.

Second replacement in 2 years
We purchased this vacuum as we already have a steam mop from Bissell (which works great), but less than 12 months in it would only work for approx 20 secs then turn off. Bissell replaced it with a brand new model (Bolt lithium max 25v model no.1971F) and approx 12 months have passed and this is doing the same thing again. Bissell is replacing it again but there has to be an inherent problem with these vacuums.
When they are working they are great but I shouldn't have to replace every year at the price.

Loved it till the wheels kept falling off.
Loved the performance of this vacuum cleanser. So easy to use to zip around. However, the wheels started falling off after about 18 months. Such a nuisance. Another problem is it is difficult to open the bottom where the brush is to remove long hair twirled around the brush. Is now cutting out after a few minutes. Barely get the kitchen and dining room floor done before the charge runs out. Used to be able to do the whole house on one charge.

Good for a While
I bought this vacuum about 3 years ago but I've only actually used it for 2.5 years. It was a pretty nifty vacuum for approximately 2 of those 2.5 years. I had vinyl planking in my previous house throughout the main living and traffic areas and carpet only in the bedrooms. The Bissell was perfect for the vinyl planking. Had 25 minutes of solid use every time and it did the job well, and I used it every day as I have indoor dogs. It did a passable job of the carpet as well.
The primary issues for me were - the wheels started falling off afte...Read more
r only 2 months, my husband fixed them on permanently so problem solved there. Then, after about 1.5 years, the side vacuum stopped working. Then the carpet roller stopped working. Now the battery is completely caput. I'm not sure any stick vacuum is robust enough for everyday use but I have to use one as I have a fractured spine and osteoarthritis so I need something lightweight. The Bissell is not a bad vacuum for the right conditions - quick to use, it's lightweight, and it's excellent for hard flooring - but I do have expectations of more than 2 years solid use from a vacuum, especially given the money we pay for these appliances.Similar opinion? Total rubbish
Keeps cutting out after a few seconds. Suction is very weak. We have rarely used this product and find it has been a complete waste of money. not sure what the problem is, but it appears to be the battery. This product should have been recalled judging by the number of poor reviews. No more Bissell for me.

Don't waste your Money!
Two weeks after purchasing the Bissell Bolt, cordless vacuum, it stopped working. It would run a few seconds and shut down. Called Bissell, they sent me another. (Thank you Bissell ). Unfortunately, the second one had the same problem. It lasted 3 weeks. Runs for a few seconds and shuts down. Called again, sorry it's out of warranty. I'll be shopping for a new cordless vacuum. I will not be looking at ANY Bissell products!

Awful product. Nothing more than a DISAPPOINTMENT
Having just ditched my expensive out of warranty dodgy Dyson stick vac, I totally expected this to be less efficient and therefore had low expectations. What I wasn't expecting was so many problems just outside of the manufacturer warranty ended.
- The turbine head stopped spinning, next
- The right wheel began to fall off, next
- The head actually stopped swivelling, next
- The left wheel started to fall off
Unlike others, my handle has NOT broken and my battery is perfectly FINE, still holding enough charge and can vacuum 3 rooms an...Read more
d a hallway after 1.5 years of use. Admittedly, it doesn't get used much lately as it's useless as a stick vac. It's now just shy of 2 years old and I've reverted back to using a microfibre broom indoors. Thankfully I've learnt my lesson over the years and paid $58 for an extended warranty. This will be replaced or I'll have credit to buy a different one in store. Not sure I'll ever put my faith in a Bissell product ever again.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Unreliable and Not Very Effective.
I purchased the machine because it had a special roller brush for pet hair and it was effective in lifting pet hair from hard floors and, to a much lesser extent, from carpet. It had poor suction but was sufficient for a quick clean of pet hair. It was used most days for a quick clean of a small living area. I had to use a different vacuum for a thorough clean, especially some rugs. The hand vac was not nearly powerful enough to clean the car.
Machine was purchased August 2015. Foot broke down and was replaced under warranty in July 2016. ...Read more

A vacuum can only make noise
Bought this one awhile ago, worked ok at the first but gradually the suction getting worse.
Finally now it doesn’t clean the floor as a vacuum machine besides making loud noise.
The roller in the head of vacuum didn’t work when I try to change to a new one as well.
Guess I I’ll avoid this brand in the further.

battery issues like everyone else.
I'm having the same battery issues as everyone else. Bissell replaced the unit with a 1312F which died about 6 months quicker than the first one. Bissell said that would be the last exchange unit they sent out.
I'll be looking for a Dyson, although I'll be checking the battery reviews first...

battery wont charge
This looked to be a good product but after 12 months the battery just stopped working. It just keeps flashing, no charge at all. This is a very poor product. I should have read these reviews. A large addition to the landfill sights for 20 or 25 vacuums. This is outrageous.

Ok but not worth it.
This vacuum has great suction light weight BUT the wheels continually fall off. At first it was fine but after 1 month neither wheels stay on its quite frustrating. The filter blocks easily so whilst it has a large canister you have to empty regularly because of the filter. Wouldn't buy again.

Battery is rubbish
If you cannot charge battery then is will not suction .....So this vacuum really sucks!
A couple of weeks after purchasing battery was not charging at all. I should have read these reviews prior to buying this piece of crap. I will definitely not buy another Bissell product ever again.

POOR PRODUCT!!!
I bought a Bissell Bolt and 18 months after, it no longer was able to charge. Thankfully I was able to have a replacement under warranty. The replacement model was the Bolt Max Professional but after 6 months of occasional use, the battery holds power for about 20 seconds then its dead. This is very poor product performance and its obvious from the reviews that I’m not the only one. Definitely wont be purchursing a Bissell product again which is a pity as I like the features.

Batteries won't charge
I bought this as it had the bend in the middle so I could get under furniture. At first it was great, worked perfectly. 12 months in the battery wouldn't charge. So I contacted Bissell and they sent a new one. Woohoo I thought but no this one lasted only 6 months. By this time I was annoyed. Battery says it's full but only lasts 20 seconds then it's done. Put it back on charge and in a minute it says fully charged. I tried to get another battery out of Bissell but no go so they can go fly a broomstick. I won't be back....

Bad batteries
Bought this for quick small cleanups, has maybe 20 charge cycles in its 2 year life. Suddenly, it wont charge anymore. Turns on with full charge bar, then off in about 20 seconds. Back in charging base show charging for about 3 seconds then quits. Rinse and repeat. Looks like I'm not the only one...

A load of rubbish
Bought this item mid 2016 - I liked the fact that it ran on Ii-ion batteries and had 25 volts of suction power to deep clean the carpet. After almost 8 months the centre pivot/elbow snapped in half. Customer service were good and replaced the complete arm assembly. Now here I am 12 months later and the same thing happened again - broke completely in half at the same elbow joint - this time I used heaps of duct tape and whilst not very adequate at least it ran for a little while but now needs more tape. The wheels have also seized and I struggle...Read more
to push it on carpet - the plastic axles are bent and so the wheels bind. As a design engineer I am very disappointed with this product - the elbow mechanism wasn't well designed it should have been corrected after the first few reports. The axle problem has the same issue - that is poor design. I would dearly love to get in amongst the designers with a size 9 boot. Management also are remiss and should have pulled this item long ago until the issues were corrected. Bissell, you can do better than thatSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

how to clean rotating head assemly
1 answer
Hi Sam, we sold our Bolt shortly after my post but having said that there should be a slide release on the bottom or side to remove the rotating brush. It is a good machine just very heavy, not suitable for us, we replaced it with an Aldi cordless and it was $99 light with 40min run time and turbo mode, very light and effective, only downside is small dust collector but no real problem, Just empty when full also very easy to remove brush with release tab. Have a good look at your Bissel head you shouldn't have to much trouble finding the release, also check out YouTube. Hope this helps

My 18 volt bolt professional bid sell keeps cutting in and out every 10-15 seconds. Why??

bissel are basically 100% rubbish. the battery is cheap chinese manufacture. once it goes (which is soon) you may as well throw out the lot. Bissel rely on turnover .
Agree with Andrew. I had the same problem. Bissel deliberately designs their product to be thrown out after battery expires which is very quickly.

Motor keeps switching off. How can I overcome this problem. It operates for 3 seconds and stops.
Rod .

I didn’t have any trouble with the motor. Must be a faulty switch. I suggest you contact Boswell but I found them useless.
