My Bissell leaks while idle... Should I return it or do they all do it?
2 answers
I have noticed this with mine but it's intermittent. I've used a Hoover with the same problem... maybe they are all inclined to leaking. I move it onto hard flooring when idle rather than on the carpet just in case it does leak.
It's covered with a two year warranty so I would contact Bissell customer care and have them sort it out for you - phone 1300 BISSELL (247735). Could be a simple issue with the clean water tank.

Can this cleaner also be used on hard floors?

The Odour/Stain remover seem expensive, can generic cleaning liquids be used?

Only the Bissell formula can be used in the machine, otherwise warranty will be voided. The Bissell formulas are x2 concentrated - and are biodegradable, plus safe for pets, children & asthmatics. They are designed for their machines specifically, for best results.
Only use Bissell formulas. Generic products may cause damage and may not work effectively.

Hi can you use this as a normal vacuum without the water

No. It is nor a vacuum cleaner. You actually have to vacuum before using it on carpet.

What is the difference between proheat2 1858 and. 2066F. Pet carpet cleaner. Going to purchase one today
3 answers
The 1858 is an older model which according to the Bissell website is no longer available except may in clearance stores. From the info on the Bissell site it looks like the 2066F has updated tools. I would go for the 2066F as parts will be available for longer.
Thanks I just purchased the updated one. The store told me the other one was an older model one . I am looking forward to using it
2066F has more attachments, and a longer hose for upholstery cleaning. It's also easier to clean and access the brushes for cleaning after use. Plus has the new CleanShot built-in pretreatment feature. Enjoy!

My dog, who refuses to be house-trained, has thoroughly ruined the carpet in one of the bedrooms. I don't expect perfection (and I actually can't wait to rip the carpet out, to be honest, but in the meantime...), but do people who have this machine, or representatives of Bissell, think this would help? Stains aren't really an issue, it's more the pong. I've had the carpet cleaned several times, but I suspect the underlay is the problem.

I have an older dog who sometimes has accidents inside and the Bissell does a fantastic job of cleaning the carpet and removing the odour. To be honest it does a better job than some of the carpet cleaning companies. The key to the odour is first thoroughly vacuum the carpet to remove all the dead skin and dust which can hold some of the odour. Next you have to pre-treat the carpet with an enzyme based pet spray Bissell has quite a good one but pet stores have even stronger ones if necessary. Next step is to deep clean the carpets using a specialized pet stain and odour carpet shampoo, again Bissell has quite a good one. After deep cleaning the carpet using shampoo, do a final deep clean with warm water to get the excess shampoo out of the carpet. Allow the carpets to dry with as much airflow as possible and if possible get as much sunlight into the room as possible. After a few days check the carpet again and repeat if necessary. Note: it may take 2-3 cleaning cycles as outlined above to fully remove the odour if it has built up over months. Also use the upholstery tool to clean any curtains or soft furniture in the room as these can hold the smell even if the carpet is clean.
Thank you for your response! It's very helpful.
There will be a sample of the Antibacterial formula in the box with the machine. Use that as it kills odour-causing bacteria. Works a treat for pet accidents!

wondering if anyone has used this product on pure wool carpet please?

It's safe to be used on all carpets types, but not long shag. The machines have 60 day or 90 day money back guarantees depending on where it's purchased from. So you can always try it in a discreet area if you want to see if you run into any issues.
Thanks. Bought it ages ago. Elderly cat with sensitive stomach issues.... works brilliantly!
Brilliant! Yes it's so handy for my dog's weak bladder! :)
