I’m not sure what you mean when you say your camera hang?
Is the camera saying anything to you?
Do you have to pull out the power cord each time to restart the camera?

Depending on what the camera is saying to you, i would start trouble shooting by checking all the connections then the sd card. If the sd card is new, it’s safe to say it’s not the issue.

If you have no luck, contact blackvue in Australia tel: (08) 6267 5167.
Ask them to help you troubleshoot over the phone. They are awesome to deal with and will help resolve the issue. Good luck

Actually the camera is running constantly over the night. What I meant camera hang ... it the whole went into freeze mode where I can't connect via Bluetooth and the LED light (front camera) is not blinking (normally it is blinking) . The unit did not say anything as I'm not sure when did the unit went into this condition.

Hence I have to remove power cord and let the unit restart it back again. Once it restarted I notice the date and time was registering the old date and time ..( example 4 to 5 hours ago during the early morning)

Yes I have to pull out the power cord every time it went into this mode. Please help

If your canera is still under warranty, I’d be seeking a replacement.
Before that though, try changing the sd card if you haven’t already done that.

Otherwise, as i mentioned previously, contact Auto blackbox (08) 6267 5167 the Australia supplier. They will help you trouble shoot.
Best thing to do is contact them whilst you have access to your car and canera.

Hi Amber,
I would suggest asking the service company what they did to your camera? Changing the battery will not have any effect on the camera's recording function.

I have a DR650S -2CH. My problem is that the device sometimes randomly says “audio record off” followed my “audio recording off”. It does this repeatedly while I am driving which is becoming a huge nuisance. Can someone explain to me why it keeps going on and off and how to stop it?

1 answer

BlackVue Australia T.BlackVue

Hi Kevin,
This can happen if something is activating the light sensor on the passenger side of the camera. It can happen if the sun hits the end of the camera when you are driving sometimes as well. It can also happen if the cap on the passenger side is loose. Check these out and let me know if any of those situations I mentioned may be the cause of this happening.

Hi Rusti,
It is possible the audio recording has muted using the light sensor on the left hand side of the front camera. If you cover the glass panel you should hear "audio recording on/off" hopefully this will resolve your issue.

Dual Camera DR650S-2CH

I have seen the following reply in one of the posts: "The BlackVue B-112 will last ~6 hours on a DR650S-2CH with constant recording, though it will last longer if the camera is only buffering video and not recording video"

What is the difference between "constant recording" and "buffering video"? How can I switch between the two modes?

I would like to be able to stop the recording when the engine is off but the camera is connected to the external battery. However, I would still want to be able to access the videos on the camera via WiFi. Is this possible? Can you propose a solution to this?

Thank you.

1 answer
BlackVue
BlackVue Australia T.BlackVue

Hi Cagri,
The B-112 will last about 6 hours, this is based that the camera is recording the whole time. Buffering means the camera is waiting for either motion or G sensor activity.
This happens automatically, if you do not want it to record in parking mode, you can turn down the motion detection and G sensor or turn it off altogether, but the camera will always be buffering.
Happy to explain this in more detail over the phone if you want to give me a call on 08 6267 5167.

Hi Pete, the best way to this would be to physically remove the power cable from the camera when you do not wish the camera to record. Unfortunately there is no way to program the camera to do this using the settings.

I use BlackVue B-112 Power Magic Battery Pack to power the camera when the engine is turned off. For some reason, after about 12 hours, the camera disconnects from the cloud and shuts down. Why does the battery drain so fast? To the best of my knowledge, the camera is not recording anything since I turned off motion detection.

Because of this, the camera is only useful when the engine is running and this reduces the camera's appeal to me. Could you please let me know why the battery only lasts approximately 12 hours?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi phdstusent17,
The BlackVue B-112 will last ~6 hours on a DR650S-2CH with constant recording, though it will last longer if the camera is only buffering video and not recording video as it is in your case. While the camera is buffering, it uses less power than when it is recording, but it will also use more power whilst connected to the Cloud. Dual Camera DR650S-2CH

My car is parked in my home's carport and my DR650S-2CH is connected to the cloud through my home's WiFi guest network. I turned on motion detection to make sure that nobody is tampering with my car.

However, I receive a push notification that states that there is "Motion detected in parking mode" every minute. I decreased motion detection's sensitivity from 40 to 3, and still the camera notifies me of a detected motion every minute.

I can, of course, turn off motion detection altogether but, perhaps, you know how to resolve this problem. Why is camera constantly detecting motion?

Thank you in advance for your help.

I think that I figured out the reason why my DR650S-2CH constantly detects motion even when there is none. Near the spot where the camera is installed, there is a blinking light of my car's alarm system. The camera, evidently, reacts to the blinking light and registers motion. I hope that this can be rectified with a firmware update.

When you review the footage; do you see any movement at all, maybe trees blowing or car driving by? Try setting it to zero and set the G sensor to 100. Let me know if that makes any improvements.

The sole reason for buying it was for the parking mode, with motion set to zero it won't record anything. As i originally stated there is nothing around or near the car to set it off. Also wont record in full hd @30. Have set the motion to zero g sensor to 100. Its not recording in parking mode at all now

Hi Brett, can you please upload a clip showing motion detection recording? We would like to check that no motion whatsoever has been captured by the camera. The fact that it is recording in parking mode without any triggers by the G sensor or motion detection is concerning. You also mention it won't record FHD@30 fps, what is it recording at?
You can upload to google drive or dropbox and share the link with [email protected]

Hi Jeff, when you say "found disconnected" please more detail. If you are saying they tampered with some wiring supplying the dashcam i suspect they have caused a intermittent connection fault causing a power cycle to occur do to some variation of voltage. In any sense it pays to have the Magic pro ( black timer delay box) installed as this would also protect the camera from any surges as they disconnect and reconnect cars main starter battery. Also allows parking delay off recording to safe battery levels so you can restart the car with nil flat battery. Regards
PS My issues related to DR650 GW series of camera and unsure if same electronics inside.

Hi Steve,
That is normal for that message to be displayed. As you stated, you can't be connected to WiFi and data at the same time. If you wish to display map data, copy the footage to internal storage and reconnect to your data service and play the video again.

Are you using power pro switch? Your car battery may be falling below 12 volts. Check your battery age.

BlackVue
BlackVue Australia T.BlackVue

Hi Francis,
The camera can only record if it has power, so if you are using the Power Magic Pro, this will allow your camera to record until it reaches the voltage cut-off that you have selected. If you require a full 24 hours of recording you will need an external auxiliary battery for your camera.
As for the restarting, this is normally caused by an unresponsive SD card. So the camera restarts to clear the buffer memory. Are you using your original BlackVue SD card?
We have found 3rd party cards can also cause this issue, so it is recommended that you only use the genuine BlackVue SD cards.
Thank you,
Tom.

The camera remained off. How can I turn it back on and prevent this from happening again?

3 answers
BlackVue
BlackVue Australia T.BlackVue

Hi Sanford, good question.
The camera will shutdown because of the voltage drop caused when unlocking the car. If the car is then started prior to the camera completing the shut down sequence it will not register the increased voltage therefore it will not start up again.
There are a couple of thing that can be done to resolve this:
1. Make sure the PMP is set at 12V not 12.5V this will help prevent the camera shutting down when unlocking the car.
2. Wait for the camera to complete the shut down sequence before starting the car
To restart the camera in this event. Remove the power cable and reinstall once the camera has completed the shut down.

Hi James

Thanks so much for your reply, I brought my car back to my installer and apparently when he set the power magic up the first time he had it at 22.8v he then corrected it to 23.2v, the higher voltage. The camera seems to work fine now but I'm a little confused, most people put it to 12 v then why my high setting? Won't it turn off quicker? Is 23.2v ok to have it set at that? I'm not sure what the logic is for that. Does that mean the battery will be more power before dropping to a dangerously low level?

Thanks

Sanford

BlackVue

Hi Sanford,
The 24v setting is for trucks and buses, or vehicles that are fitted with dual batteries.
If you have a standard car battery, I suggest 12v for your setup.
