Dual Camera DR650S-2CH

Hi I'm just wondering if there is a way to turn off voice recording in the cab of a truck? my partners company put these dr650s in the truck but as he works long days and I need to call him sometimes about doctors appts and personal family stuff I don't want the whole office to be able to sign in and listen to our conversation which he talks on hands free with blue tooth as I'm under the assumption that they can hear and see everything in the truck which is normally fine but I find it a breach of privacy if I need to discuss something that I don't want the whole work to know.

Hi Bel,
You can turn audio recording on and off, simply move your hand over the passenger side of the camera and it will disable the audio record function.
I would also suggest having a read of the manual, this will give you a better understanding of how the camera works.
The manual can be located here: https://www.blackvue.com.au/support/downloads/dr650s-series/dr650s-1ch/manual.pdf

Dual Camera DR650S-2CH

I bought my blackvue dr650s 2ch last year august, recently the rear camera has stopped working. i have checked all the connectors and none of them seems to be bended. I have tried, 1.disconnect everything for a good 5mins and reboot, 2.formating the Sd card and 3.upgrade the firmware. Nothing seems to work, the light on the rear camera just doesn't seem to come back. What is worse i asked my friend to plug in his rear camera(was working before we test it) and see if it was really the camera or the cable that is not working, his rear camera didn't come on either. We then plug his camera back to his car and found that his rear camera is also not working now. Please advice me on what is wrong with camera, cheers

Hi Tony, sorry to hear you camera is not working. Normally the most common reason for the rear camera not to be working is due to the coax cable and/or the connection being damaged. Please carefully inspect the coax connection in both the camera and the cable paying close attention to the small pin on the male connector ensuring it is straight and not damaged. Also the small hole and white insulator in the female connector ensuring they are both undamaged and uniform. It may help to use the front connector as a reference. It is common that they can be damaged during installation and constant connection/disconnection.
Please feel free to get in touch if you have other questions.

Dual Camera DR650S-2CH

Hi ive recently purchased dr650s-2ch. I dismount the front camera from the mount and disconnect the power and rear camera coax cable every night. I make sure i reconnect all cables correctly before i turn power on. I notice the image on the rear camera has a purple tinge colour and the light on the side on the camera turns off intermittently. It comes back on when i disconnect and reconnect the coax cable. I've had the camera for 2 weeks now and this started occurring in the second week. Is there a fault with the cable? Can you please advise.
Thanks

Hi Philly, It sounds to me that you may have damaged the coax port by constantly connecting and disconnecting the coax cable.

Hi Alper, thanks for your interest in our products. The DR650S does relatively well at night, it does depend on street lights and your cars headlights as well. We would recommend logging onto YouTube and checking out some of the night vision recording. Thank you:)

Dual Camera DR650S-2CH

I've had my blackvue in for just over a week. Just wondered why the unit frequently connects and disconnects from the cloud ( sometimes the disconnect is for minutes, other times hours) meaning that I cannot access the unit remotely.

Also I have the power magic pro kit plus I also have a dual battery system fitted to my car ( 4wd), is there any advantage to using the magic pro over a direct connect to the dual battery ( which is not ignition affected)?

1 answer

BlackVue Australia T.BlackVue

Hi Beardy,
Great question. There are many factors that can effect the connection to the cloud. The best way to answer this accurately is by viewing the log files on the SD card. Please feel free to send these to us via email, addressed to [email protected].
In regard to the Power Magic Pro, although by directly connecting the camera to your auxiliary battery will not effect the car starting, it can however effect the performance of the battery, particularly if the battery drops below 11 volts on a regular basis. The Power Magic Pro has a voltage cut off to prevent this from happening so you don't have to replace the expensive battery.

Hello,
I was looking at getting the DR650S-2CH for my holden colorado ute. My ute is a crew cab model and has a canopy on the back, that has a back tinted window.
I was wondering what the image out the back tinted window would be like and would installation be tricky/costly.

Hi Mick,
In most cases, dark tinting is not an issue as the camera is basically right up against the glass. You will notice at night that the recording won't be as clear, but this is normal for all dash cams. As for the install, you will just need to run the coax cable from the front camera to the rear camera, I don't think this would take more than an hour or so to do. If you get stuck, I would contact one of our local dealers and get some professional advice :)

Dual Camera DR650S-2CH

Hi,

I have the DR650S 2CH unit installed in my car. Recently I had occasion to remove the microsd card, which obviously requires you to unplug the power and the rear camera lead. After reconnecting the unit it now emits a 'chirp' noise whenever a large bump or road corrugation is driven over. Can you please advise what is required to make this noise stop? I have tried unplugging the unit and that has had no effect.

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt C,
Thanks for your question. Just to confirm, you do not need to unplug the coax cable to remove the SD card from your BlackVue dash cam, simply remove the power lead and open the cover and eject the SD card. As for the 'BEEP' you are hearing, it sounds to me like you have enabled the 'BEEP' function for events. I suggest disabling this if you do not wish to hear the beeps.
Thanks,
Tom.

Dual Camera DR650S-2CH

I have the blackvue 650 2hc and i mainly bought this dash cam for the parking mode so that when im in class if anyone damages my car it is recorded, that being said when i got the dash cam fitted along with the power magic pro when i take the key out of the ignition the power magic pro shuts down and also shuts the dash cam down. I have no idea why this happens but need to have it working as my car has been damaged already and is my main method of transportation. Is it to do with the way the power magic pro is wired uo or something i can do myself? Thanks.

Firstly I would check the settings on the Power Magic Pro. There are 5 switches and the way they are configured changes the behavior. Switch 1 & 2 are for voltage cut off. Switch 3, 4 & 5 are for timing. I have mine set at 12V cut off and infinity timing. The settings are in your instruction manual.

The other problem could be that your car battery is shot and doesn't hold enough voltage to keep it on.

BlackVue
BlackVue Australia T.BlackVue

Hi Brandon.c17,
It does sound like your unit has been wired incorrectly. I would take it back to the installer and ask them to check that they have wired it correctly.
You can also check that the boot switch is in the ON position.
Thanks,

hI, I always had the 650gw 2ch, I'm very happy with it, I just purchased the 650s 2ch, I was wondering if I can use the same cables from the 650gw 2ch, for the 650s 2ch, just to change the cameras, as the 650s 2ch is a bit clearer, will it work as good, or I need to change the cables as well?
the cables are the same, I'm asking if the cables got a upgrade as well if I don't change them will the 650s 2ch not work properly!
thanks

Hi Mak,
Great to hear you have purchased another BlackVue!! I can confirm the power cable is identical, but the coax cable has a very slight change. The centre pin is slightly shorter but a tiny bit thicker. It will fit your DR650S but it may or may not power the rear camera, but you can certainly try it. If it doesn't power the rear camera, you are best to use the new cable that came with the new camera.
Cheers,
Tom.

Dual Camera DR650S-2CH

I installed my DR650S-2CH with power magic pro in my car a few days ago. I noticed that whenever the camera went into parking mode and kept recording under the sun for about 1-2 hour front camera would be out of focus and only return to normal after 5-10 minutes with air-con on. Is it normal behaviour? Because it's autumn now and the weather was not even that hot, about 24-25 Celcius degree outside, it will be much hotter in summer.

Hi Matthew,
Thank you for your question. This is a known issue with some Samsung devices.
Unfortunately I am not sure if this issue will be or can be fixed by the manufacturer, as it is actually caused by the Samsung itself, trying to boost the WiFi signal.
My advice would be to contact the manufacturer via the BlackVue help centre.

Dual Camera DR650S-2CH

Hello, i have the 650 2 ch camera installed with the maguc pro. All is well but i wanted to know if there is a setting to prevent parking mode from turning on while the car is parked but still running. Example, while being pulled over by the police id like the camera to continue normal recording during the stop, however after a couole minutes parking mode engages and all recording stops since i only use the g sensor for parking mode. Motion sensor is off because it records everything that moves. Any ideas?
Thanks.

1 answer
BlackVue
BlackVue Australia T.BlackVue

Hi Matt,
Thanks for your question. The only way to disable Parking Mode is via the app or PC player, otherwise parking mode will engage after a period of 5 stationary minutes. In your case, the only easy solution would be to 'tap' your camera with your fingers, this would activate the 'G sensor' and create an Event recording. I will also forward this question directly to the manufacturer as I think it would be good to see a feature that would allow you to continue to record in circumstances such as the one you have mentioned.

Tom.

Hi Joe, You certainly can remove the camera from it's mounting bracket. Simply press the lock button located on the front mount and slide the camera out. As for the rear camera, simply push the camera and simultaneously pull from the other end and it will unclip from it's bracket.
