I too have a Bosch Athlet with a failing battery (lasts 5 minutes or so on a full charge). Our local dealers do not carry spare parts and have referred me to the Bosch 1300 contact number. However I find myself on "hold". No answer from many attempts. I have also left my details on their answering service, but have had no response. I am disappointed that a $350 purchase has failed this early in its life, and that Bosch and or their dealers do not seem to have a system to deal with product quality issues. Does anyone know another way to contact Bosch? Does anyone know a dealer that carries spare parts (specifically batteries)?

I contacted Bosch customer care on their 1300 369 744 number a couple of weeks ago and got my limited operating time problem sorted - and mine was 8 months out of warranty. They ended up replacing it. I didn't have the frustration you're having with being put on hold (well maybe for 5 mins) and them not getting back. I don't know what's going on.

what is the difference between the bosch athlete bch6at25au and the bch6255nau

hi Louise
It appears they are the same vacuum cleaner. Harvey Norman has the 6at25au and Bing Lee has the 6255nau.
I had trouble registering the warranty on the 6255nau because it was a New Zealand appliance and I contacted Bosch in Australia and they did it for me. Hoping this helps.

Hi I have Bosch Athlet that is no longer charging. The lights don't go on when I plug it into the charging unit. When I switch it on the come on, but the vacuum is flat. Can you tell me if something is wrong with the charging unit, or is it the vacuum? I've been very impressed with the vacuum and would like to have it fixed rather than have to get a new one!

hi Kelly
First of all you have to contact Bosch customer service on 1300 369 744 who will assess if vacuum cleaner can be repaired. It appears the charging unit could be at fault or the battery is totally lost all charge. I leave my unit on charge during the day and switch off at night. This will ensure the battery maintains a full charge as this is important for battery longetivity.

Hi Aljosa,
Thanks for your question regarding the Bosch BCH6255NAU Vacuum Cleaner.
It is not recommend washing the brush head or using any abrasive materials such as, glass cleaning agents or all-purpose cleaning products. To clean simply release the brush roller using the release button and pull it sideways out of the floor tool.Using the groove provided, cut through threads and hairs wound round the rollers with scissors and then remove them. If you need any more help, feel free to contact us on 1300 369 744.

Hi, my bosch athlet is no longer charging! Nothing happens at all when i plug in the charger. The vacuum is flat however the blue battery light flashes when i turn it on (no vacuum). Is this a battery or charger fault? Please advise as I'm missing and needing my vacuum!

Rechargeable batteries don’t last forever. And sometimes the charging unit fails as well. I’ve had to replace my 8yo Dyson battery recently. A previous Bosch vacuum I had - a different model - had a dodgey charger and I had replaced it twice during its lifetime. The fact the blue light is on suggests to me it might be the charger. I bought mine from Harvey Norman and if I were you I would take it to the place where I bought it and ask if you can plug it in to the display model charger and see if it starts to charge. If it does you know the charger is the issue. We have bought new chargers on line for less than Bosch charge.

The battery in the unit is a 'consumable' (just like batteries in all other products), so it will decrease its performance and needs replacing eventually. I'm noticing this in our unit. Bosch, how come I can't buy a new battery? How long will the battery last? Can After Sales replace the battery? If yes, how much will it cost approx. (retail)? If no, do you expect consumers to throw the product away after X years? Please provide answer here for your customers and don't mention 1300369744 please.

Hi Mary,
Thanks for your question regarding our Bosch Vacuums.
We might be biased but we think they're both great. The BCH6A* has a runtime of 60 minutes and the BCH62* has a runtime of 50 minutes. The BCH6A* is recommended by Choice and available exclusively at Harvey Norman and Joyce Mayne.
If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us on 1300 369 744 to discuss.

I have the BCH6255NAU and it's perfectly adequate for my needs. If prices are similar, I would go with the BCH6AT25AU purely for the runtime.

Thanks. Harvey Norman has only BCH6AT25AU so I bought it plus extra 4 years protection. Hope I can leave a good review soon.

Thank you for your answer, I removed all visible screws but I could not remove the section containing the DC motor successfully, it seemed to be secured by something I couldn't see. Is there a trick to removing the cover, or are instructions available?

Bob J

Hello Cat, To access the motor it is necessary to remove all screws - those under each of the two front rollers, the four under the "wiper" strip and two others toward the rear rollers . Following removal of the 8 screws you can access the motor. It can be removed by easing/sliding the motor toward the centre of the head. Bob

Hi - can you buy attachments for this vacuum cleaner? If not, can the head be removed to get into cracks, corners and along skirting boards?

3 answers
Jono K
Jono K

Hi there!

Yes you can. There's a set of attachment heads that can clip in where the turbo head normally fits. This includes a hose attachment of around 1.5 meters, a small square head for things like your car boot, and a thin headed nozzle for those harder to reach areas. Note: switching the hose and attachments over can be a bit clunky and using the vacuum cleaner to clean your car can be a little cumbersome; this is because it's essentially an upright vacuum, with attachments that adapt it to other purposes. It's certainly powerful enough for the job, and if you don't mind a little spacial awkwardness, it works just fine for cars and hard-to-reach spots.

Thanks.

We were told the attachments were expensive and difficult to manage. It was designed to be a light weight reliable floor vacuum cleaner. We bought it after another brand, which can be taken apart and used as a hand vac, stopped working after 12 months. We bought a specialist hand held cleaner for the tight jobs.
