be very wary
model 16E - wished I had never brought it. Wastage of cold water is a major problem for me, at least 5 to 9 litres of cold water just for 2 showers in the morning, then the kitchen cold water add that on pure wastage. spoke to a plumber who installs another well known brand rang gas works and a technician came and re-tuned it, shut this did that and is now working like it should have been.

Fairly instant & very expensive,
I changed from solar to instant gas in an effort to save water. What a let down. I need to run my 'instant' hot water twice as long as my old solar took to heat up. The cost was exhorbitant. Over $3000. now I have to pay for the power and waste twice as much water.
I have to change my review and apologise to Bosh. The installer informed me it was working correctly. After a year of miserable showers I found a real plumber who said the water was travelling back & forth unnecessarily in too small pipes. He has fixed that problem. However when set at 50 degrees it reaches about 43 and stilll takes a while to get to the kitchen. Still wish I'd stuck with Solar.

Very good,no problems to date, own two.
17e has been great! One unit supplying hot water to a food van, another, domestic supply.
Both units will take some effort to restart should they continue to be used on an empty cylinder.
The restart usually takes 5 minutes with some switching on and off of the power supply.
Best to try and avoid the run-out situation. Simple cylinder changing does not effect units.
Both units 2 plus years old.

Rubbish
The water Takes a long time to get hot, we have to turn the tap on and off several times before we get hot water, when we run at low flows it goes cold, very expensive to repair( the plumber showed me what the spare part cost him, $369 )...I would never recommend a Bosch to anyone,

Junk.
Same issue as most here. Having to replace the board after only 5 years!!!!!
Costing me $264 for a plumber to look at it and couldn't see a problem (of course he switched it off to look at it, causing it to reset and work fine when he turned it on again), and then $620 incl labour to replace the board. $884!!!!
A brand new Rinnai 18 installed would be $1199.
DO NOT BUY A BOSCH!

Cold showers Are the norm
I was recommended to change to a shower head with flow greater than 9l/m to maintain heat in a shower. I can't find one. Everything seems to be a max of 9l/m (wels3).Does this mean that bosch highflow 17e shouldn't be on the market?

Dangerous
Just moved in a new house for two weeks, with Bosch high flow 17e hot water system, one cylinder of my LPG-45 KGs has gone empty, call el gas, they told me about 3 months for one cylinder gas. I also smell the stink in my room, feel dizzy which I thought it caused by recent bush fire.....Switch off the cylinder and call the builder....

Give Bosch 17e the ky-bosh
Had Bosch 17e (instant??) installed 12/12/11 - would only fire up sometimes, called Bosch Service on 25/1/12 for warranty - Tech/Plumber arrived 2/4/12 (Great service) did not fix. Called Bosch again on 10/7/12 same problem now 15/8/12 still waiting for someone to arrive to fix? - Time to rip it off the wall and install a Rinnai and call a Current Affair - what a joke.
I turn on the hotwater and let it run (waste water) heater does not start. Have to walk to the power point it is connected to and remove the plug from the wall and plug it in ...Read more
again. Then run the water again (more waste) water - still does not work go back pull out the powere leade and put back again then run water and it works - great stuff in the middle of winter when you are stripped ready for a shower and have 10 - 15 minutes running around trying to fire up the hot water. Heater does not start.1 comment
this review is irrelevant because it doesn't relate to the product, but rather your specific unit, which is obviously faulty.

Excellent
Moved into rental property with 17e with the remote temp control option. Must have been installed correctly as works brilliantly. Never run out of hot water, can set the temp however we want. Great.
Temp and flow rate control, never runs out of hot water. So far my guess is that it saves on gas, however haven't had the bill or other gas system to compare to.
Occasionally slight temperature change, barely noticeable.

Terrible
I would not recommend the Bosch 17e to anyone. It is so dangerous to be in the shower and have the water suddenly go cold. This normally happens three times during my shower which should last about 3 minutes. I would add that no other taps in the home are being used at this time so nothing is affecting the water pressure. When we finally got a technician here to check the system, he said that we do not know how to take a shower. That is how much they care about after sales service.
Absolutely nothing
I have been unable to have a proper shower for the six months we have had this piece of rubbish. The water continually goes cold. A two minute shower takes me 20 minutes.

Hello
I have a Bosch Highflow 17e.
Recently I have noticed that the red light on the remote controller thermostat unit is turning on and off while I am using the hot water (e.g. having a shower and the red light remains mostly on, moreso flashes of the red light going off).
I have also noticed temperature fluctuations more often duirng showers.
Because the weather has been hot in Adelaide I have recently reduced the temperate setting on the remote controller thermostat from about 41 to 37.
This morning, however, the red light was disappearing more often. It eventually came back on.
Do you have any suggestions?
Kind regards
Tony
