I purchased Bosch for its name for reliability and not by price and when I first installed this product it ran without any issues for about 14 months, then it would shut down and not supply water hot or cold. I found pressing the resett button inside it would function again for anywhere between 1 to 3 months. Then it started to fail on a more frequent basis untill finally it would not reset at all. Only moved into our house in March and we have had nothing but endless problems with hot water cutting in and out and also when swapping the gas bottles. Followed the manufacturers instructions by turning the water and gas off and on numerous times, with no luck. How Bosch ever got these products past quality control is beyond me! I'm off to purchase a Rinaii!

Bosch high flow 21e has cost me more money in repairs in the last ten years on parts and labour and now I find out it just cost me another $148 just to tell me I need a new one I know were I would like to stick bosch .

The Bosch 26e replaced a faithful 20-year-old electric Vulcan freeloader. This hot water service gets very little use as it's basically used to run a shower once a day. Have had nothing but problems with this Bosch HWS 21e since it has been installed in the rental property. As the property is managed, the ongoing plumbing fees to "reset" the unit is begininng to hurt. the numerous tenants have all had issues with this Bosch 21e unit. The plumbers go to site - i believe to reset the unit. by reset i mean just turn the power off then on. New house with small cylinder cupboard and insufficient roof space so we opted for gas. Whole installation cost about 20 percent more than a 180l cylinder. Hooked up to mains pressure which ours is particularly high pressure for some reason. So far so good I don't have any electronic temperature control units and I get consistent hot water without fluctuations even when water is used at another source. Still have to figure out running costs and I have a suspicion it will be slightly higher than electric but I will update later. Did I mention it...

21e installed at the insistence of AGL in 2013 (we wanted a gas storage unit). Have never really liked it. Especially don't like it since it fails on a regular basis since December. Today alone it has failed 3 times. Reset and it goes ok for a while before the same problem happens again. Waste of money, pile of junk. Would never buy Bosch again.

Was persuaded by Gas Works to update our old storage water service after it began leaking (over 10 years old) to this Bosch continuous flow hot water service. Gas Works were very efficient in arranging a new installation, which meant we were only without hot water for one day. The water Takes a long time to get hot, we have to turn the tap on and off several times before we get hot water, when we run at low flows it goes cold, very expensive to repair( the plumber showed me what the spare part cost him, $369 )...I would never recommend a Bosch to anyone,

Same issue as most here. Having to replace the board after only 5 years!!!!!
Costing me $264 for a plumber to look at it and couldn't see a problem (of course he switched it off to look at it, causing it to reset and work fine when he turned it on again), and then $620 incl labour to replace the board. $884!!!!
A brand new Rinnai 18 installed would be $1199.
DO NOT BUY A BOSCH!

Worked well for a bit over 2 years. Then for no apparent reason it wouldn't produce hot water when it was windy or raining or a combination of both. Bosch approved technician came and had a look and said moisture had entered the unit and not much could be done. (Paid him cash and no receipt). So I started closing air holes off - this seemed to fix the problem for about 6 months until this last lot of inclement weather in Sydney. The holes I closed off are still closed and when I listen to the unit the fan starts up when the water is switched on...

I'm not sure what the issue is but it takes 30 plus seconds from when the tap is turned on for the water to become hot. is there something simple that can be tried to rectify this? Could this have something to do with installation? This is a new built extension for Kitchen and bathrooms.

Our unit is now 9 years old and for quite some time it turns off and on during showering particularly when the cold tap is adjusted.
A repairer told me over the phone that we should install a new unit for approx $1400.00.
No other taps had this problem such as kitchen, bath, vanity or laundry.
I have removed the water saver device from the shower head and have had perfect showers ever since.
Water flow can now be adjusted to perfection.

Worked fine, installer forgot controller, came back to put controller on, now not hot enough to wash dishes, my shower isnt hot enough, suddenly it is a piece of crap. What a joke, why they dont warn you that if you pay extra for a controller you wont have hot water I dont understand

Was good until changing gas bottles wont reset,no hot water for two days tried power on off.tried turning water off &gas then back on as advised by Bosch to no avail.Bosch why is this so hard.?next step a plumber-will cost money-for something that should be easy to rectify.looking at emails this is a recurring problem.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how to reset the water heater? On my bosch21e system. We have only been in our house for 4 months and ran out of gas. I have a full gas bottle attached so switched system over and opened gas however still no hot water. I read the bosch 21e manual online and it says that the water heater will need to be reset. But didn't tell me how to reset it. So I turnt off the main power and switched on again. That seemed to do the trick and we now have hot water. But I'm wondering if there a reset switch on this system somewhere? As I don't want to have to switch off the main every time we run out of gas. Thank you in advance :)

We installed a bosch 21 e 10 ish years ago.
After a few years on very cold mornings it would turn it self off with in 1 minute of starting,so you would have to reset it by turning it off and on at the power point. The water would also not stay consistent, you would have to be adjusting continuously. To solve these problems I fitted a bathroom controller and it seemed to fix both problems! Now we only need to turn the hot water tap on.

I have a 2 yr old Bosch 21E hot water unit which has recently developed a fault. It intermittently fails to produce hot water usually at night. I was charged $126 for a service technician to reset it after which it worked for 1 day then failed again. I have now reset the unit myself several times after which hot water is produced for a short (1/2 to 1 day) time. The unit occasionally restores itself but never for very long. This problem is occurring with increased in frequency. Very disappointing.

Same problem as most people here; Unit gets around 6-7 years old and starts cutting out intermittently and controller is flashing.

Bosch's authorised service agent WHO CHARGES LIKE A WOUNDED BULL come out and basically tell me it's the board and a new one is worth half the price of a new unit (way to go), then charges me $250 for the privilege.

Now I get to buy a whole new unit <6.5 years after brand new install as well as pay the service agent who achieved nothing.

I won't be buying again.

I am a builder and fitted 21e units to 2 townhouses on the same block 7 years ago and both let NO WATER out of the HOT WATER taps. Turn off and on at power fixed them for a short time, but now doing it nearly all the time.
Had service tech look at them and told need new BOARDS at $500 EACH
SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN 7 YEARS!!!!

We purchased the Bosch 26e 50 degrees model when Bosch offered the cash back deal, we decided on the 50 degree model as we have a young child and were concerned about scalding when the little tiger plays with the taps. We also have Bosch water heating in our property in the UK and their reliability is second to none so had no hesitation in purchasing it. whenever we have a shower its really hard to get temp to stay on corrct setting almost like it blows out then re starts I just don't know, very frustrating.

Got a 26e in a 2 yr old house. When trying to get some warm water, you will need to turn the tap of the sink or shower to fully hot then slowly work your way towards warm. Once at warm, it will stay for a few seconds then disappear. The last own did not rectify this issue and thus it is out of warranty. Got a plumber to have a look. i have a bosch 26 which performs extremely well, I suggest you remove your water savers that located in your shower heads, they can be removed with a small flat blade screw driver. This is a common problem with all instantaneous hot water heaters as they are all designed to work at certain flow rates

Very impressed with the size and performance of my new 26e Highflow, my old Bosch Water Wizard 780 performing for 20 years plus with one part replace. It finally ended dramatically with high pressure leak and hissing, a 3 inch split where the pipe is attached to the heat exchanger. Hence my allegiance to Bosch replacing it the 26e. From 17 to 26 litres is like upgrading your 4 cylinder car to a V6. My next step is to install temperature controllers.
