We moved into a house with a Bosch 26e Highflow system earlier this year and noticed that during a shower, the hot water cuts in and out constantly. We have two bathrooms and it was happening in both showers. I was extremely worried as having a reliable and efficient shower is very important to my daily well-being. During the winter, it didn't happen to me as I have super hot showers when it's cold but as the weather has warmed up again and I'm using less hot water, it's started happening again. I've tried all manner of configuring the taps - h...
Read moreot on full blast, little bit of cold, hot on a half turn, more cold etc. and nothing works. I do not need to be standing in the shower dripping wet turning taps on and off for ten minutes while I'm trying to get ready for work or alternatively boiling and freezing as the water struggles to maintain temperature. Is there a quick fix for this issue? I don't know when the heating unit was installed and I doubt it's still under warranty. I look forward to hearing from the Bosch Hot Water & Heating Team. Many thanks. I will do.

We have just installed a new Bosch 26e hot water unit and we are not happy with it's performance. The shower running cold after a few minutes is a big problem. I do not have a water saver shower rose and the unit cuts out after 2-3 minutes. You turn on the hot tap...wait a few minutes and the water comes out hot. After a few minutes of running or if you adjust the cold of hot slightly the unit cut out and goes into "cool down" mode. In the meantime you stand in a cold shower and wait for it to come back on again. I hear a lot about shower he...
Read moread etc causing the problem. Yes, it could be that the unit does not function with a water saving head.....but why doesn't it? I think it is bad design and a fault in the software that controls the unit. It's detects a slight flow in hot water and it goes into panic mode ... shut down and cool down and then come back on...un-acceptable. There are many complains on this problem but it would seem that Bosch is not taking this problem seriously. The heater is not managing the heat correctly. The burner comes on too strong when you first open the tap then it overheats. The controller detect "overheat" and shuts down the unit (for about 5 minutes). I'm seriously thinking about ripping out the unit and returning it to Bosch. When it works well....it heats water! The unit is "temperamental" and does not meet the customer's needsounds like you have a plumbing issue the we install and service hundreds of bosch electronic heaters and problems performance problems are nearly always installation faults or

Read morethe temperature more and your shower will never turn cold! The continuous water heater works but is temperamental... your plumbing has to be a certain standard, you must not use water saving device in your shower rose (a certain flow is required to turn the heater on)... also be prepared for a hefty bill if the unit should need a service or parts etc. The "computer" that runs this type of unit is expensive and not all hot water service guys can work on it! If you have no space for a storage tank, then you have no choice and you have to accept a compromise. Some people learn after a while how to work with this heater. You have to open the tap a certain amount and you should not adjust the hot down whilst you are showering... It is rather a pain using the hot water in the kitchen if you are constantly turning the hot water on and off. When you turn off the hot water, the unit goes into "cool down mode" and you have wait a few minutes before the unit is ready to heat again.Related Articles

I installed a Bosch 26e in 2008 and never had a problem with mine. The optional temperature controllers are located in the kitchen and bathroom out of reach of children. The only thing I have a problem with is when someone turns a tap on or flush the loo the temperature drops slightly. I think this is more to do with the mains water supply and not the heater. Like most things these days it depends where and when it was manufactured. People need to realise the unit heats the water from where it is located and the cold water is flushed from the...

I live in east gippsland, had an E16 installed Jan 2008 and have never had a problem. I could only give it excellent marks. I think the poor reviews online could be just the need to change setttings; I reduced the heat levels and found shower adjustments much easier; as for waiting for the hot water to come through, I put a bucket under the tap or shower and then pour it into my washing machine ready for the next wash. Run out of gas? then ha ve two bottles so you can switch instantly. Think laterally people for goodness sake.

Make sure you do not use and water saver device with this unit, will make your shower go hot and cold.
Make sure your pressure into the unit isnt to high if it is will make the heat exchanger split & leak - you can help fix the problem by installing a pressure limiting valve "plv"
Great Unit - Works beautifully when installed correctly
bigger in size compared to rinnai
How high a pressure is too high? Reading all the reviews seems to indicate that Bosch have a major problem with their instructions and their service installation people. It also sounds like these units are very temperamental.

Temp and flow rate control, never runs out of hot water. So far my guess is that it saves on gas, however haven't had the bill or other gas system to compare to.
Occasionally slight temperature change, barely noticeable.

Not impressed. The gas bill has gone from $55 to $150 in a 3month period. You have to be carefull using the tap if you have a flickmixer and you want cold water only, that it is actually in the cold position otherwise you are telling the unit to turn the gas on all the time when its really not needed. This leads to a hefty gas bill firing up the gas for 30 to 40 secs without actually realising you turned the unit on,just to have cold water.
Bosch 26E - Endless hot water I guess.
Takes too long to for hot water to come through. At least 45 seconds if the tap is too far from the unit.

Bought a house with 21E version in and I cannot wait to get rid of the silly thing. Very hard to keep the shower warm, it is either 50C or freezing cold. Am unable to use the water to wash the dishes in as, it is just not hot enough. Hot water is limited to 50C. Would not reccomend to anyone.
System runs quiet
Water goes from hot to cold. No other taps in the house were touched and it still goes cold after a minute. Water only at 50C so useless for washing dishes in. No hot water if power goes out.
