Bravecto
Large (For Dogs 20 - 40kg), Medium (For Dogs 10 - 20kg), Small (For Dogs 4.5 - 10kg), etc... (See All)Works on preventing ticks but my yorkie was very sick after wearing. He was stumbling and lacked energy. We took it off after 4-5 months and he seemed so much better. It must have some very strong chemicals on collar.
Effective...but the side effects of Bravecto are not good.
I have a Belgian Malinois.
She is 8 years old and we have administered Bravectoto her since she was a year old. The initial doses (Tablet) made he ill. Slimy mucous covered poop. Blood evidence in poop and vomiting. This lasted for a few days until she recovered.
I then took the tablet ground it up and fed her portions in mince over five days. Although about 50% was ignored by her, this method worked the best with almost no side effects, and a good measure of efficacy.
The spot on type of Bravecto worked OK.

Read moreeaction than the tablet had... BUT...after this last application, her reaction has been on par with her first bad reaction having been given the whole tablet. Please note when dealing with super sensitive and intelligent dogs like a Malinois, they're not easily fooled. There is no one that will get my dog to even look at a tablet ( once was enough) And you need disguise tiny crushed pieces of tablet in mince balls, even so she eats everything around the Bravecto.

Our very healthy male Poodle was very sick several times over the day after taking the Bravecto tablet, ok the next day . We would NOT recommend this treatment at all.

I gave my dog an oral Bravecto chew yesterday afternoon on the recommendation of our vet. It's now 10:30 pm the day after and I just finished cleaning up his fourth and fifth vomits. If this is the worst of it I'll consider us lucky based on some of the much more severe reactions I'm seeing being reported. Will be on the lookout for other Merck products and avoid at all costs!

Gave a dose to my 11 mos. old lab and within 4 hours he developed a severe allergic reaction- hives all over his back and hips and severe itching. Luckily I didn’t have to take him to an emergency vet, Benadryl began to help a bit an hour after administering- another dose 4 hours later. Stayed up all night with my pup who was noticeably uncomfortable. Will never use the product again. He hates the taste too, just as an aside- had to break up and hide in peanut butter.

After the second dose of Bravecto my dog started having serious neurological issues and we couldn't stop the seizures!! We had to detox her of the meds before she was better.
Purchased in August 2018.
My dog had serious neurological issues after giving him this medication for the first time. I’m confident that this drug caused his problems because no other factors changed or were involved on this particular day, plus the symptoms began almost immediately after he took the medication.
Shortly after administering the medication his eyes stopped tracking, he walked like he was drunk, he couldn’t stay balanced and kept falling down, he appeared to be dizzy and disoriented and I thought he would die. I was scared to death he would start seizing...
Read more and I felt awful because I gave him this new medication. I called the emergency vet hospital and they advised me to contact the Bravecto manufacturer for advice and a case number. I contacted Merck’s after hours poison control representative. She immediately said that my dog’s symptoms didn’t occur with Bravecto and were unusual. I knew this to be false because I did some quick online research. She said there’s no antidote and advised me to go to the vet hospital so that they could treat his symptoms. The hospital confirmed that he was in neurological distress and started an IV in case of seizures. They gave him anti nausea medication and kept him overnight. The next morning the vet called and said the symptoms had subsided and he didn’t experience any seizures. The vet was fairly confident that the Bravecto caused his symptoms.Purchased in April 2020.

I hate myself for giving this to my 2.5 year old Rough Collie. ONE day after giving him the medicine, he started having localized seizures. He would twitch, pant, and lick like crazy. He was scared and there was nothing I could do except wait for his episode to pass. One week later, same situation. Localized seizure with muscle spasms in the front and hind legs, panting heavily, licking me frantically. The vet put him on Methocarbamol which is a muscle relaxer. He has not had an episode since then, but it’s only been two weeks since he went on ...
Read morethe medicine so every night I pray to god he won’t have another episode. He also has had diarrhea every day non stop. Horrible liquid, projectile filled with mucus. His blood panel showed his liver was elevated due to toxicity. Please if you love your dog, Dont give them this pesticide!!!!! I can only wait and pray for my dog to get better over the next few months.I was hesitant to give this product to my new puppy as I have read about dog deaths attributed to Bravecto. This was the only product offered to me for flea and tick protection by the vet. I asked if the product was really safe as it is an internal pesticide and was told that the vet's dogs all take it. I really should have declined, but figured I would give it a try. My poor 12 week old pup started vomiting hours after taking it and remained lethargic and sickly for over 24 hours. Thank god he got over his symptoms, but I felt horrible for not...
Read more saying no to giving this product to my baby. Over the course of the 3 month period, he has had hair loss around the base of his tail and I see absolutely no effect on fleas or ticks. I will not treat him with any other products until the 3 months have passed as I do not want any further complications. I will NEVER give Bravecto to any of my beloved pets again and I feel lucky that I still have my baby as many others unfortunately do not.Purchased in January 2020.

Back at the vet this morning, the nurse told me " I would not touch spot on with a ten foot pole" would have been nice to be told this when I purchased this product, unbelievable then she offered me a free replacement spot on and said because he had taken this one mouth ago I would have to wait 6 weeks before I can give him this product again, I declined the offer, then had the Gaul to try to sell me another product, no refund was offered,

After getting my dog to take the chew he has been licking his rear and hassling and pacing all night.
My other dog, a Jack Russel, would not take the chew at all. I will never give this medicine again. This medicine costs over $100.

We have 4 dogs that we used it on. They are now all biting and chewing themselves constantly. Vomiting and diarrhea. How this has been allowed on the market I do not know.

I have been treating my dog with Bravecto chews for a while and I have only just realised the intermittent skin problems are due to this product. A week after ingestion she has hot spots and her skin itches all over. I feel so miserable that it is me who administered this despite best intentions. On the plus side there are no ticks but I’d rather just pavement walk her in future than have such distress.

If you wouldn't give your children asbestos then DONT give your dogs Bravecto chews
I do not intend to waste your time giving an account of what happened to our dog, only to say that all the bad things that have happened to others are undoubtedly and completely true. Like most dog owners, our dogs are important and valued members of our family. They love us unconditionally and trust us to get it right. My wife and I are mortified and horrified we got it wrong with this poison. We truly love our dogs with all our hearts and this WILL NOT go unpunished. We have sacked the vet who recommended this, cancelled our Petstock membersh...
Read moreip and will never shop there again and we will now go out of our way to spread the word about this vile product at every opportunity to anyone and everyone. I would urge any pet owner who has had their world turned upside down by this insipid product to not just vent on this and other social media pages just hoping someone will see it but on behalf of your pet have the courage and the guts to TAKE ACTION!! as we have done. Hundreds of negative experiences and reviews mean this is not a few isolated cases. I would not wish the anxiety and trauma we have felt over the last week or so on anyone. Please please please spread the word about this.Purchased in November 2022 at PetStock for $72.50.
I gave Bravecto to my dogs and they are ill with yellow vomiting. This has happened in the past and I took them to the vet, who did not see the connection (they sell Bravecto). It is now that I read other reviews that I realized the cause of the issue. I regret giving Bravecto to my beloved family members.

Questions & Answers
I just got my dogs bravecto but I wake up and I have bites on me what can I do
Can I give this one to a 22lbs dog this is the one the vet gave me for my 10kg dog?
I would not give to any dog, when your dog has a seizure, you will wish you hadn't. Your dog has convolutions, foams at the mouth, pees all over its self, craps its self, shakes violently.
