Cat severely burned

published

I was recommended Bravecto by friend who swears by it how awesome it is for her cat. However when I used it on my cat his skin got totally burned (after only 12 hours of being on his skin) to point that was bleeding and I end up taking him to vet so he can get prescription meds so his spot can heal. Even the vet said that she has seen this happen several times in last months to cats and she will not be allowing more refill to cats. Was severely disappointed and heart broken for my cat the amount of pain and discomfort he went through. took over 4 weeks for spot to clear from bleeding and 3 moths for hair to start growing back. I wish I knew how severe the the hives and breakout can be from it.

Back at the vet this morning, the nurse told me " I would not touch spot on with a ten foot pole" would have been nice to be told this when I purchased this product, unbelievable then she offered me a free replacement spot on and said because he had taken this one mouth ago I would have to wait 6 weeks before I can give him this product again, I declined the offer, then had the Gaul to try to sell me another product, no refund was offered,

Will not Chew or Swallaw

published

Unsuccessful in getting dog to chew and swallow Bravecto. Will wrap a treat around it, and she will isolate and spit it out. My vet charges $55 per 3 month dose. I tried unsuccessfully and had to discard. My dog has no problem with Heartgard and eats it like a treat. Will look for a better alternative for flea and tick prevention.

Ruined my dog

published

Took my beloved seven year old dog to the vet and he was diagnosed as having ear mites. The vet gave him Bravecto as it would apparently also clear the ear mites. He became lethargic and within two weeks started losing weight rapidly, also constantly chewing at his paws. I also noted that he started drinking huge amounts of water. At seven weeks he went totally blind within a period five days. Bravecto didn't do anything to to clear the ear mites. The vet then diagnosed him as being diabetic and gave this as the reason for his demise. I still don't believe it to have been coincidental that he suddenly became diabetic after ingesting Bravecto. He was a perfectly healthy dog, except for the ear mites, before he was given Bravecto.

Causes Seizures

published

After giving my 15 year old dog a 3 month Braveo chewable for fleas and ticks she was unwell for a while and later started having seizures. I took her to an emergency vet where they did tests, diagnosed her with a brain tumour and put her on seizure meds. 6 months and over $3,000 later, while I'm estatic she doesn't have a brain tumour, I wouldn't recommend this product to any one.

Have there been these sort of adverse affects with the spot-on product?

I had used spot-on frontline for years on my dogs without adverse effects except with the possibility of one dog which did have symptoms of having a stroke with a fit thrown in for good measure. The impregnated collars seem to be the safest option.
