My breville breadmaker has all of a sudden started this loud squeaking noise when kneading, does anyone know how, where and with what to lubricate?

That should not be experienced when using The BBM800 Custom Loaf Bread Maker. Be sure to use the appropriate collapsible paddle for bread making, the fixed paddle also included with the product is not for bread-making purposes. Consumers should not need to lubricate this appliance nor is such a recommendation a part of the instructions provided, please do contact Breville Support for further troubleshooting and review at 1300 139 798.

I am wondering if you ever solved this problem. Our dispenser used to work and now it does not. We are not sure what to do.

The dispenser opens using an electric magnet. If you hold a magnet against the black disc on the side of the lid, it should spring open.

BM800 Same thing here. Paddle sticks, menu light out. Perhaps and easy fix would be to fix it yourself, as the cost of freight etc would be prohibitive. I am 250 KM's out of town and no local service agent...That sucks... Breville has suggested I take it to Melbourne. Its under warranty They should fix it for me locally....

Hi, I used my breadmaker for the first time yesterday. It was great until the cooking stage- there was smoke and fumes (which apparently I thought was okay for first time use). But halfway through it stopped working and the lcd screen went blank. It now will not turn on. Please can you advise what happened and how I can fix this? It is very disappointing.

I have an older version of this machine, and have had it for more than 10 years. It's always been fine, though I mainly only use it for dough. How is the new machine different, apart from the electronic/screen/buttons etc.? Is the basket/paddle etc. still the same? The outside looks the same. Some people obviously have had trouble with theirs, but I haven't had any trouble in more than 10 years, and want to buy one for someone else.

Have you consulted the manual? The only occasion where I have experienced your issues is when the unit was too hot, after having baked a loaf. I had to wait about 20 minutes for it to cool down.

I have had mine for a few months now and am making a loaf every day with no failures todate. If you are not sure you should return it as it will be under warranty and you are entitled to a replacement.

I purchased my Custom Loaf Pro 1 year ago. I LOVE IT and have made many loaves with only a couple of disasters mostly from pre-made dough mixes, which are rubbish, stick to a recipe and add all the ingredients yourself, or forgetting to add something major like yeast! For the first time today I decided to made a nutty bread, so I put all the ingredients in that I needed and sunflower seeds into the nut dispenser which on the wholewheat setting, nuts should be dispensed automatically when they were needed for the mix. They didn't dispense. Bread looks beautiful anyhow but does anyone know why my nut dispenser didn't dispense?

Yes, Kate. The seeds I put into my new machine dispensed but the dispenser would not close. I took it to the designated repair place and was told that the seeds stuck in the dispenser mechanism and not to use it for seeds but to add manually. Not fit for purpose.

When you tried to bake bread, did you go through the standard steps? Select bread type, press knob etc?

I make spelt bread a few times a week in my old Breville Ultimate Bakers Oven: 300g tap water, 30g veg oil, 500g white spelt flour, 2 tsp salt, 2 tsp bread improver (1 or 2 tsp, depends on brand), 1 small tsp sugar, 2 tsp yeast. Perfect. Good luck if you try it.

Yes, I used the GF program with the Biomed Cafe Protein RIch Bread and Focaccia Mix
about 4 times now and every time the loaves came up perfect! You just have to add water and oil to the mix, very easy, and in less
than 2 hours you have a beautiful loaf of bread, crunchy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside.

Sorry, cannot offer advice as mine is working a treat going 3-4 times a week 10 mths on. I would suggest calling the help desk for advice, sounds like a thermostat issue in the rise phase.

Let the machine do all the hard kneading and rising. Then put dough in oven, but don't knead again, just lightly shape. You will be surprised at the crusts!

We bought a Breville BBM800 today and have a "trial" loaf baking as I type.
My question/concern is, as soon as the unit started to heat up, the light has stopped working. I'm not sure if this is a problem or not amd don't know whether we should return the whole thing for a replacement.
Has anyone else had this issue ?

I have just noticed my lights also turn off when the mixing sequence has finished. When I press the "light" button they all light up again. It is all very frustrating as the light failed within a week on my new machine.Hope this has helped.

I just purchased the bb800 and this is our first bread maker. Is it normal for it to be rather noisy?

It is a little noisy, but not so much now we have got used it doing its thing. I must admit sometimes I forget the sounds it makes until it does the beep thing and then get a bit of a fright. I have found it kind of like the dishwasher, noisy when you first get it, but after a while it is just background sounds.

eCurio sity
eCurio sity

It does get quite noisy but not that bad. We live in a double storey house and we still can have a good night sleep without hearing it from the 1st floor but definitely get the amazing aroma of freshly baked bread when it is in the baking stage. I have included a link that share a few recipes using the Breville BBM800 The Custom Loaf Pro https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4JmgYzOHuYnjn2zllwVXuexAI5_NzD0_ (Copy and Paste in new browser). The bread is doing everything right except its not browning and is soft to slice even though I used crusty white and set the machine for dark crust.. What can i do?

2 answers
Robina Algie
Robina Algie

Hi Betty: My suggestion is that you try the CRUSTY loaf option, you cannot then change the crust colour options between light, medium or dark as the machine presets the options, you can only change the size of the loaf once you've chosen CRUSTY. In the various breads (Multigrain with Soy and Linseed, German Grain and Barossa Sourdough Rye (all Laucke premixes) which I've tried, by using CRUSTY as the selected option the results have been superb with a crunchy crust. With advice from Laucke, I've used at least 15-20% less water than the premix package indicates one should, apparently this is correct for the conditions
prevailing in my area. RA
