Perfect...until the hot plate stopped working
I used my slow cooker at least twice a week. It was fantastic. I found it easy to clean, easy to use, and loved all the recipes I could create...until I was cooking my sausage hotpot (a family favourite), and I went to check on it 2 hours out of finishing and it was cold! I tried again and still cold. The hotplate has stopped working. And again, like others, just out of warranty!!!

BRC600? What a disappointment.
It kept on switching off before the food was cooked. On the third and last chance, at the end of 3 hour cooking period, I was defeated for the last time. Dinner was late, we had to leave for training after switching the menu to sandwiches for dinner. While my kitchen would pretty much be the perfect Breville advert this slow cooker was the Royal let down of all my appliances.
The item was returned to the supplier who took it back with no objections. I haven't seen the Breville Multi Chef BRC600 available on the shelves since.

I loved this machine, then it broke
This was a fantastic machine for cooking rice, risotto, slow cooked meats and casseroles, and all sorts of things... then it just stopped working. Any setting — saute, slow cook high or low, rice or risotto — none function, the bowl no longer becomes warm. From this website and others this sounds like a common problem. Called their support centre — the staff were friendly, but this unit cannot be fixed or serviced at all. They offered a discount on a replacement, but it's based on their website's recommended retail price and works out to be about the same as the actual price of a new unit from a retail outlet. Just over two and half years of service is pretty disappointing.

Worked Well, But Dead in 3 Years!
I was happy with this product, it worked well, easy to clean. Mostly used the rice cooker function, and occasionally the risotto, sear and slow cook functions.
Buuuut...like other reviewers have stated here, it completely stopped dead with the hotplate not heating up at all after about 3 years!
Disappointing. At the price point I would have expected the product to last longer. I probably used it on average no more than fortnightly.

Broken after 11months
We purchased one of this cooker less than two years ago. 11 month after purchase it stopped working. Replacing unit just stopped working exactly 11months after first use. These cookers seems to come with self-destruct timer!!! Or there are some serious defective designs. The multifuntions are fine when not broken.

Good and Bad
The cooker is fast to heat up and works great in the first few moths, but the coating on the black pot started to come off more and more after a few months. I mostly use it for cooking rice, boiling hot water or making soup and don't scratch it with any sharp object. I have never seen this in any other rice cookers I bought before so the pot material/coating is the worse compare to everything I used before.

Very good machine
I have used this as a rice cooker, slow cooker as well as to sauté and even cook a whole chicken and can also make homemade toasted museli.
I find it does best as a slow cooker. My rice cooker makes better rice but this one cooks it very quickly.
Great that you can sauté and slow cook in one machine.
Very happy with this purchase

Excellent kitchen helper
This product is well-made and is very easy to use. It also well-designed and looks stylish and durable. I have been using it with great results for a variety of dishes for a few months now. It is also very easy to clean with a non-stick surface. I would recommend this product to a friend.

I have no idea how I managed in the kitchen before my husband bought me this! I absolutely love it, it’s easy to use, extremely easy to clean most of the time only needing to be wiped over! I use this at least 3 times a week it’s my favourite kitchen appliance!

Bad brand
It works well at the beginning, but after the guarantee expires you will be left with an useless product. Mine has stopped working completely. Turns on but doesn’t heat up. I got almost all my kitchen appliances from this brand and most of them have stopped working. My conclusion is this brand is really bad!

Cooks rice like a beast
Had this for about three months, cooks rice really well without having to stress on keeping an eye on it.
Using it as a steamer also works great, used it a few times to cook hot dogs. Really recommend this one. Have the Toaster kettle and this cooker in the series.

Good quality reliable appliance
I always liked Breville and have a few appliances of this brand. This Slowcooker is of excellent quality in line with other Breville products. It makes my life so much easier, I can take the kids to sport on Saturday morning and have lunch ready by the time we are back. It cooks my meals evenly and nothing sticks to the bottom.

Power on but hot heating
Same with others here, mine has power but doesn’t heat up. Not worth the money. Should this be raised with ACCC? Shouldn’t this be withdrawn from the market? Expensive but not worth if you only use for a few times and stopped working? What else can I say? C’mon Breville!

Super fast cooking speed
I bought this rice cooker from The Good Guys for AUD$109 and I am very impressed by the cooking speed, it takes like 10 minutes only to cook the rice. What I also love about this product is it's 3.7L capacity plus being able to select cooking temperature and duration with its slow cook, risotto, saute, warming, and steaming functions.

Excellent risottos ... even blokes can cook
Very easy to use with a good starting out recipe book included.
The searing function allows one single pot to be used for cooking a whole meal unlike many slow cookers where the food needs searing ( such as onions and meat) before putting in the slow cooker.
Great for stews as well as risottos. A personal favourite.

Bought recently from Myer
I was looking for a rice cooker combined with a slow cooking function after my tefal one was broken. It's kind of powerful, I mainly use rice cooking function. There are two slow cooking options but I find them less convenient than my ex-tefal. Sear and saute is useful. My biggest problem is that the keep warm function does not operate alone, it only works after rice cooking is done. If the device is turned off for some reason then you can't put it on keep warm again unless you put rice cooking on which makes the rice over cooked and crusty, after it's done "again" keep warm will operate.Forgot to say that it has a very nice and sleek design!

Love it, would buy the same again
I bought this after returning a slow cooker that also seared (Tefal? Was too hot) and couldn't be happier. I purchased it when it first came on to the market, about 5+ years ago(?), and no problems whatsoever. I love the fact that it sears first, it's easy to control and I use it most days whether to cook a 'slow-cooked' dinner with a cut of beef or just for convenience, ie. mince, as I can sear, start it off and leave it until it's convenient to serve dinner later on. The 'keep warm' feature is great too. I've used the risotto function a f...Read more
ew times, and it was fine, ditto the rice feature. If I want to give it a bit of a fast-start, I'll turn it to the risotto setting and then put it on slow cook high/low. I'll be replacing with the same model when it no longer functions, but hope that's not for a long time.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Keeps switching before cooking complete
I bought this machine only because my cheap Aldi rice cooker was a little on the small side. I used it a few times and it worked ok although I would have to stir regularly or all the rice on bottom would stick and becomes brown & crispy. It had a period of non use (due to a surprise receipt of a Thermomix which cooks rice beautifully by the way. However, I have had occasion recently when I have needed larger quantities of rice cooked so pulled out my rice cooker again. Each time it switches itself to Keep Warm setting after about five minutes ...Read more
when the rice is nowhere near cooked. When I restart option for rice cooking it does the same again. The only way to continue cooking is to use the sauté setting and keep a close eye on it, stirring regularly. I've never actually used any of the other setting to cook anything else. The only use I can see in it now is for keeping previously cooked food warm using the low slow cook setting. I wish I had just waited until Aldi bought out a bigger one as this one was not cheap and fails to deliver. The non stick coating has also started to peel off the top of the bowl too.Similar opinion? Best rice cooker I've bought
Very happy with this products, the rice cooking function is awesome and it cooks many cups of rice at once. The only issue I have is that the steam comes out the sides of the lid and makes quite a mess on the kitchen bench. I have not tried the slow cook function yet but the rice always comes out fluffy and I love that I can steam my vegies at the same time. Great for curries and stir fry's

Questions & Answers
Nigel M.asked
I just bought a new Breville Multi Chef BRC 600 from Domayne Two days ago . looks good. I have had a Breville Rice cooker before with a steam function . So thinking this New one would be a little better with stainless steel steam tray . But after one use i am so disappointed with it, it steams up ok, but the steam and all the Moisture comes out side of the lid and Runs down all over the side on to the Control Buttons,, do you have any suggestions how to stop this occurring, i thought i had to much water in the tray but not as its was only 30 mm depth of water in the bowl . i was cooking cut up Potatoes, i hope you can have some ideas to fix the problem, or just go back to my old Breville rice cooker Cheers Nigel

We are using the old one as well, (plain old rice cooking) and its still going strong. The Multi Chef BRC600 we only did risottos and rice - didnt tend to overflow but it still died on us after very little use,. Good luck...

Instructions say to add liquid between min. and max indicator on bowl for slow cooking. Can you cook a pot roast for example using just a small amount of liquid so that the roast is not stewing?
