If you want to burn your house down by this product

published

Bought a 4 slice smart toaster from the good guys ( 5/01/22 ) toasts good until I try the crumpet setting then it proceeds to the point were it was about to set the toast on fire and I canceled it and the smoke did not stop for a couple of minutes
Took it back and they refunded my money as they did not have any in stock.
I then bought another from Harvey Norman and it was the same again ( I took samples of the black toast in on both occasions) they also refunded my money and the staff said that they notify Breville There is an obvious fault with this unit that could potentially case a fire in your home

Brand loyalty goes wrong this time

published

After owning one of these for many years and being totally satisfied with it we bought a new one without hesitation. It is a total disappointment. As others have stated it toasts totally erratically and only on one side generally. It is also so slow it drives us mad. Extremely disillusioned. The old one is almost worn out but works much better.

Purchased in at Harvey Norman for $189.

A toaster has one job!!

published

The only job of a toaster is to cook the bread.
You would think that spending almost $200 on a toaster that it would do that and more.
The look of it is great, the functions and usability is great but it doesn't evenly cook a slice of bread.
One side is always more then the other, you have to keep turning the bread so it cooks evenly and doesn't burn.
The crumpet function, puts all the heat on one side, so doesn't matter what setting its on, you have to stop it or it will burn.
I actually returned the first toaster because it wasn't cooking evenly (thinking it was a faulty one) but the second one was exactly the same.
Definitely not a smart toaster. My mums $10 toaster cooks better.

This is an awful product. Don't waste your money.

published

Ba 845 I think. Continually unable to use. This week: Yesterday won't lift toast ... today lights flash ... cannot use. Wasted a heap of money on this item. Toaster will be in the trash today. Buying a cheap one from the supermarket. No need for Breville to post a 'please call' as we won't return to this page.

Smart Toaster

published

I bought this Breville Smart Toaster on Wednesday 29th March, I have used it once and then the next time I went to use it the right hand side does not heat I can find nothing about troubleshooting in the manual, so back to The Good Guys today (Sunday) for a replacement. I have checked all the power points and each one working fine. For an expensive toaster I would have thought I would have gotten more joy out of it.

Toaster doesn't toast evenly

published

Decided after replacing a number of cheap toasters to get something of higher quality. Brought unit home, first unit would only toast on one side. Returned for replacement, replacement toasts both sides but unevenly. Contacted Breville support and didn't get past "take it back to the supplier who may or may not replace it or refund purchase price". Would have expected more at the price... Will be avoiding Breville products in future.

Lights start flashing and then it won't toast!

published

Purchased at Williams Sonoma, I thought I was purchasing a superior product but the toaster's electronics stopped working properly after six months. The lights start flashing and it won't toast. The first time I was able to reset it after a while by unplugging and waiting. Not great if joy have to get on your way. But, after a few times, unplugging didn't work.

an immediate disappointment from the start

published

From the start, some toasts weren't evenly browned. Within a few weeks, one of the lights stopped working. I have lived with it, not having the time or inclination to go through the hassle of warranty repairs. Now two of the 4 slots has stopped working. In the bin it goes, and will never buy this brand again. And I don't believe the wonderful reviews of this toaster written elsewhere, I presume they are Breville propaganda.

Rubbish

published

This $200 toaster failed after 2 months then the replacement simply lost its toasting capability after 26 months... 2 months past its warranty. It might look k good but it seems the mechanics are just after same as a cheap toaster. I think my days of expensive toasters with a loads of features are over.

How to remove outer casing? Have already removed 10 screws but no go.
Bread is burning one side and other side only warm. All 4 slots the same you might expect it on a $20 toaster but not a $200 one wish I read reviews before buying it 4 years ago.
