Breville Smart Toast BTA845
Reviewer Photos & Videos
Bought a 4 slice smart toaster from the good guys ( 5/01/22 ) toasts good until I try the crumpet setting then it proceeds to the point were it was about to set the toast on fire and I canceled it and the smoke did not stop for a couple of minutes
Took it back and they refunded my money as they did not have any in stock.
I then bought another from Harvey Norman and it was the same again ( I took samples of the black toast in on both occasions) they also refunded my money and the staff said that they notify Breville There is an obvious fault with this unit that could potentially case a fire in your home
After one year of very occasional usage (less than once per week) it has completely stopped working and I have been told that it cannot be repaired
Expensive rubbish
Last Breville for me
Purchased in October 2020.
This toaster is worth every cent. We had one at work and I just had to get one.
You can adjust the toast to exactly what you want. If you need it to be toasted for a little bit more - there is a little bit more button. The slots can take thick toast also. In addition there is a button for fruit toast - so you wont burn your raisin bread. I now love being able to put 4 pieces of bread in also - so our eggs dont go cold waiting for more toast to pop up!!..

I purchased this toaster for $200 and time level from 1 to 4.5 gives you light toast. when adjusted to 5, toast burns. Never ever will I be buying anything breville. here's my review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THuO8SntTHk

We were very happy with this toaster when we bought it. Loved the ability to toast all different types of bread products and they toasted as they should do. Unfortunately after 2 years it started tripping the safety switch when we used the fruit toast setting. Breville replaced it for us even though it was slightly out of warranty. We then had the same fault less than a year later. Breville again replaced it for us. At this stage we were starting to feel a little cautious about this toaster after having 2 faulty ones. Our third toaster h...
Read moreas now developed a fault (less than a year later), it sparked on one side and that side now does not work. Breville are now only offering a half price replacement but I will not be spending money on this particular model toaster after having 3 faulty ones!Purchased in March 2017 at The Good Guys for $157.

One side element no longer toasts. The broken element half comes on when defrost is selected. Product is just over 2 years old. I mainly toast sliced sour dough and gluten free bread.

we have had this toaster for good 7 years or so.... and it hasn't disappointed. Thick or thin slices of any bread, including a fruit loaf, it has been great. Still works like new. So much so, we have since bought many Breville products because of it. None of them have had any issues at all. Very pleased and satisfied customer here.

I love that this toaster cooks evenly and thanks to settings is able to do so for fruit toast crumpets etc.
I have never had a problem with toast getting stuck.

A friend has had a 2 slice version of this toaster for about 2 years & said how happy she was with it. Each time we visited her, we were impressed by the smooth operation of the motorised lift/lower mechanism & the premium look, feel & even/consistency of browning of the toaster.
When our old Sunbeam toaster started to play up recently, we needed no more excuses to buy the 4 slice version of the Breville Smart Toaster. We have only had the toaster for a few weeks, so cannot comment on long term reliability. I can say that the build quality ap...
Read morepears to be good, especially the cast metal body & quality feel of the buttons & sliders. Toasting is a bit slower than our old toaster, but we haven't had a single burnt slice, I guess due to better control of the heating elements? We use thick cut toast & the very large, wide slots & slice centering guides make for very consistent, even browning. Frozen bread doesn't require any changes in browning settings, just a press of the 'Frozen' button, works perfectly! Haven't had to use the 'Lift & Look' feature much, as the browning is so consistent. So far we haven't had any sticking or jamming, though we are careful to remove any crumbs from the crumb trays & we shake any other crumbs out of the toaster by shaking it upside down, after every few days of use. Only time will tell if the toaster continues to perform to expectations, but so far so good. Pleased with the purchase.Purchased in May 2020 at eBay for $145.

Slow to toast. Was content until the left side "Toast" button got stuck & damaged the functionality of the left 2 toasters. Occurred out of warranty. They dont offer parts either. As a consequence, have been using it as a 2 slice toaster for several years. Been through several Breville kettles as well. Will never buy another Breville appliance. Kitchenaid is the best brand for features, quality & therefore longevity; well worth the money.

Have had this toaster for over 6 months now and still frustrated enough to come back and review.
Most expensive toaster I have ever bought. I was seduced by its looks, but it is much slower to toast than my old toaster (a cheapie from big w), toast somehow is not as hot (I’m guessing this goes along with the elements taking so long to toast) and toasting is uneven on different sides of the bread. All unacceptable really given the price. I shouldn’t have to microwave a fresh piece of toast to keep it warm enough to eat - but all it has is enough...

We bought this toast in December 2018 as I wanted a toaster that could do tings like crumpets and fruit toast properly. We weren't disappointed. The toaster is easy to use, and as really useful settings for things like frozen bread, crumpets and fruit toast. We use it every day. Each half of the 4 slide toaster can be set separately so we can do things like have crumpets on one half and fruit bread in the other and get perfect results.

After owning one of these for many years and being totally satisfied with it we bought a new one without hesitation. It is a total disappointment. As others have stated it toasts totally erratically and only on one side generally. It is also so slow it drives us mad. Extremely disillusioned. The old one is almost worn out but works much better.

We have been living with a cheap 1600W toaster we purchased from K-Mart about 2 years ago and were forever popping it up to check on it and with each pop up the elements turned off and the toast got harder and harder. That has all be fixed now with the Breville Smart Toaster (2kW), indeed once you have determined your setting it produces perfect toast every time due to the better control it has of the heat and the positioning of the bread evenly between the elements- this is a fantastic toaster and truly produces first class toast. As Wallace says .."Cracking toast Gromit!"

Questions & Answers
My Breville toaster on one side all lights are flashing. Toaster is in closed position and will not cancel.
All lights flashing and toast will not lift
How to remove outer casing? Have already removed 10 screws but no go.
Bread is burning one side and other side only warm. All 4 slots the same you might expect it on a $20 toaster but not a $200 one wish I read reviews before buying it 4 years ago.
Here is a you tube link showing how to remove the outer casing.
