Wasnt easy to pick up the car but could handle that. Then two months after was rented they took $94 from my account for <$25 worth of tolls. They didnt give a breakdown of the costs or fees and then claimed the fine print said they could do that but it still didnt add up even with that. Customer service was rude and difficult and unhelpful they refuse to talk on the phone and did not respond to email complaints. I will be going to fair trading and suggest the other complainants on here do the same

Service is made unclear when booking. Absolutely atrocious service. Long, tedious pick up process. Ridiculously excessive toll fees (paid $50 to use $9 worth of tolls). For the same price could of gone with a reputable company with far more convenience and a better car. Absolutely never again

Car was fully scratched, trims hanging off,rear bumper loose, seats stained, 165000 hard kms, brakes sounded like they were metal on metal, and a wobble at 100km per hour, oh, and 46 bucks billed to my card weeks later for 2 tolls that would normally be about 5 bucks worth, my advice, stay away, far far away

One month on after the worst experience of my life and I still haven't heard from Carhood.
Completely unreachable in an emergency which left us over $600 out of pocket. Worst experience with any company in my life! Urgent requests for help still unanswered a month later! Live chat is not 'live chat' but a ticket service - no one ever responds. The emergency number directs you to -you guessed it- the live chat! If I could give negative 10 stars I would! Angry beyond belief at how this company left us stranded. Avoid at all costs!!

We were picked up promptly. Informed of our responsibilities, the customer service was good.
The vehicle wasn't the one we expected but we were upgraded to a better car at no extra cost. We wer wuite happy.

Good customer service, all the kinks were ironed out via email, instructions were simple and quite easy to follow, Payment was easy. And the Vehicle was exactly what I needed!

Collected from airport promptly and bond returned promptly. The car we received was exactly what I booked and met our families needs. We used the car for a holiday to visit family.

Very polite and helpful staff. Payment handled very well.

I used to car to attend to a three day conference. Everything was fine. After all i was satisfied.

Used car for running around and visiting hospital within the Sutherland shire. Would definitely use again. Only criticism is car smelt stale. Like someone had carried fried food in it

October 2nd 2022 Update: Great car

The service was great. I would of used it the next time I hired except your hours of operation were not convenient. The staff are friendly but when someone is flying in or out it's hard to organise a taxi to or from depot to airport when depot is closed

We hired our car through Carhood for 2 days in Brisbane withe the family and they were superb . Customer Service was second to none !! We got a free upgrade to a larger newer vehicle for free . No hassles, no problems . The smoothest car hiring process I have ever experienced
Will be back and will definitely use them again.

Before I had even stepped out of the car on returning it, they said I had caused damage without even checking any records. It felt like a complete set up.
When I tried to go through it with them they acted as I if I was the crook when every step has shown their behaviour to lack transparency, honesty, ethical let alone best practice.
They had already tried to prevent a cancellation contrary to the clearly written statement of free cancellation on the booking confirmation.
They make it impossible to deal on the phone and only have web chat and ...

Nice people, smooth experience on pick up and drop off. Perhaps be a little more clear on the trade-offs for toll payments. The car had some mileage but ran great.

Super excellent company to recommend friends to try. Everything that I needed, it went so well with the service supported. Got the same vehicle I hired and at the good time. The bond handle went very perfect.

Good price for the car, car was great and drove well.
Person picking us up and dropping us off from the airport was quiet, not the best customer service, and location of the car for the drop off and pick up was a warehouse which made it feel a bit dodgy.

The VW Golf was good at base rate. After adding on insurance it became similar to other car rentals. The options for tolls was very frustrating. Can't just get the tolls charged to you like a normal car rental. Have to purchase a package or risk paying cost of tolls plus $38 admin fee. This was a problem for me when I accidentally went through a toll because I missed an exit. The Carhood office closed at 5pm which was a challenge for me, I couldn't get there in time. We hired a small car for just the 2 of us.
It went really well. We drove it all weekend it was excellent on fuel. We would definitely hire again.

It is a great service to use. Thank you so much! Car was perfect. Perfectly clean. And all team members I spoke to on the phone or face to face where lovely.
There where a couple of things.
1. The tolls fee, we had the car for 4 days but only needed toll pass for 2 days yet had to pay for all 4days. (We didn’t end up using that option as the price ended up very expensive for no reason).
2. Opening time of the warehouse on a weekday. Please look at the time your warehouse opens on a weekday. 9am is extremely late when people are traveling. W...

Accommodating in every way! Effortless collection and drop off to the airport, the car was spotless and exactly as quoted. I will use Carhood again I’m the future and recommend them for your rental needs.

From the first phone call as I walked out of the airport I was impressed with the attitude and professionalism of the people I spoke to. The gentleman who drove the bus and picked me up was absolutely fantastic, such a positive bloke.
The car I booked was clean and tidy albeit a little older than I expected but nonetheless clean and tidy.
I only had a short trip and the car performed as well as I would have expected, definitely no complaints. I have already informed my staff to utilise the services of Car Hood when they next visit Melbourne.

Custom service, the car, the shuttle to the airport : perfect. I have no complain about the company. The reception was good, they gave us explanations about insurances. As we don't speak english fluently they took time to explain us the contract, the tolls, the insurances. The vehicule was the one I've booked, the good size but not the gearbox (I've booked a manual one, not an automatic, but it doesn't really matter). We booked ahead this car for a 10 days trip around this amazing land (Victoria : great Ocean Road and Melbourne).

I booked a car through Carhood for a three day trip in Victoria. After being taken from the airport to the office I was told:

1. The shuttle does not operate on Sunday night, so I would have to catch a taxi once I dropped the car off
2. They were moving offices over the weekend and I would have to drop the car back at the new location.

I expressed that it would have been helpful to have been told this on booking. One of the reasons that I booked Carhood was to save money - although it was not alot - so an additional taxi ride would've been f...

I thought l would go with them as their 'day rate' was cheaper than most others, especially from the suppliers at the airport - BIG MISTAKE!
1. They are 20 mins from Melbourne airport, that is after waiting 20 mins to be picked up by their shuttle bus.
2. They charge, wait for it, $40 ADMIN FEE if you at going to use tolls. That is on top of the tolls! You can select the $17 per day coverage but that doesn't work out to be cheaper in my case at all!
3. The mini l loaned had a tire warning light soon after we left, called them and they said it...

Carhood are not fair and reasonable. I returned the vehicle with a full tank of fuel. They charged me a fee of $50 to put an additional $3 worth of fuel in the tank. I supplied photos of the gauge which in my opinion is was full, and the photo of the receipt of $40.00 for fuel. You cannot call them, to discuss, they do not reply to your emails.
I DO NOT RECOMEND USING CARHOOD.

On the last and final occasion I used carhood, my (fully insured) vehicle was checked for damage on return and ok'd. A day later I was informed there was a mark (see the image they send me: it looks like a stone chip) on the door and they were withholding my $500 deposit.
