I will not recommend
The rentals are cheap but they are more interested in selling their own insurance which is expensive and does not cover all damages. Their cars have a lot of hidden damages and if you miss them on your initial inspection you will pay thousands. They are not registered with Australian Car Rental Conciliation Service. I think we should open a Facebook review and share our views.

Save yourself. Do not use.
Do not use. Seriously suspicious and unethical practices. Do yourself a favour and pay more for another company. Rented from Hobart Airport. $710 was deducted from my account without any evidence of any damage to windscreen. The passengers did not notice any damage, and the attendant who greeted us at the car during drop-off also didn't point out any damage. The money was later taken from my account with NO communication as to reason for deduction. None. Until I noticed it missing and chased it up. I hired through a 3rd party site, and when I e...Read more
nquired through them, they informed me the charges were for something else altogether unrelated to damage, which ended up being incorrect - so their vendor was somehow misinformed ((suspicious)). When I questioned the office, they kept misinforming me as to the appropriate billing. It took some hard line questioning from me (over multiple emails) to get something as simple as an invoice for those deductions, and the appropriate RETURN of funds (which I doubt would have ever been returned had I not noticed or chased them diligently). The way they handle this was NOT TRANSPARENT, NOT ETHICAL and simply NOT GOOD BUSINESS, and given that and the fact myself and none of my passengers noticed damage to the very thing you look at when you drive, I am strongly suspicious that the damage was a result of my hire in the first place. This overall treatment also jeopardises people's ability to claim through insurances they may have. PS: I've never written a bad review in my life, so this speaks volumes as to my disgust. I WISH I had checked the reviews before using them.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Very Bad experience unbelievable (Please do not use Bargain rental car)
I booked Bargain car for 3 days trip (Full paid) and picked up the car at Hobart airport on 12 march 2020. Unfortunately, I did not aware and checked under Neath of the car. I believed that the car was damaged before I picked up the car. When I was driving for 1 hour, I heard sound from under Neath of the car when I drove the car to Richmond bridge. I parked the car and I checked the car in Richmond Bridge car park. I found the car was damaged under Neath of the car. Then, I drove the car back to Hobart airport car rental company. The manager i...Read more

Thank you trying times
Trying times Covid-19 when every traveller had plans changed which ripple effects all services.
Bargain in Hobart city honoured my rate, changed my dates and even assisted in allowing drop off at airport.
Had a fabulous little car so clean and well presented, ready on arrival. Thank you for being flexible and understanding in this unprecedented times .Will use again on my future return holiday . Vanessa

Rude and unprofessional
Booked and charged by Flight Centre 3 day car rental.
Arrived Brisbane branch and they sold me insurance upgrade which I was happy to pay. Then they showed me the rental agreement and they had charged me a second time for the 3 Day car rental again. Manager was rude and unhelpful so I Cancelled the car. Manager would not let me get their shuttle back to the airport.
Worse and the only bad customer services I have had from a car rental company.
Never use Bargain car rental.
Will go back to Hertz who have always provided me with good service and in this case would have been cheaper than Bargain Car rental.
Flight Centre should delete Bargain as a recommended care hire provider

Don't go there! Very poor service and attitude from the old dude.
WE flew from Perth to Hobart for a three week holiday touring Tasmania. We prepaid a hire car for 19 days to tour around Tasmania. We checked the day before we were to collect the car that all was in order and that the car would be ready. The man was very rude, aggressive and short with us. He told us that the car was at the airport and he could not guarantee that it would be ready on time at 10am as per our contract. The next morning we phoned and were told that there was no problem and that we should collect the car as arranged.
When we arriv...Read more

Impolite, scam, annoying, insurance sellers and what not!!! Stay away!
We booked Bargain car for out TAS trip and picked up the car from Hobart airport on 6 March 2020. At the time of pick-up, the agent (an Asian) tried his best to sell additional insurance and looked so annoyed and angry when we rejected. Therefore, he purposely made us wait for 1.30 hours and finally gave us an ugly (awful smell, unclean, wet seats), damaged (broken crash guards & front parts), noisy car (weird noises from the speaker when you accelerate the car). The car was so old and bodged so that it struggled so much even to climb a 45 degr...Read more
ee steep!! Once realised the issues, we have called them and asked for a replacement car. We have also emailed them to explain these issues. The person who spoke with me told me that they would not replace the car. Instead, I can take the vehicle to their Hobart city workshop so that they will diagnose and try to fix the issues. I was in TAS only for a 5-days short holiday, and I knew what is going to happen if I take the car to their workshop. They took 1.30 hours to give us the car at the airport, and they would have spoiled at least 2-3 days of our holiday if we had taken the vehicle to the workshop. So, I did not accept that and have used the car for the rest of my trip. It was stressful to use a partly damaged car. To avoid break-downs or similar issues, we have avoided all long drives. Somehow we managed using the vehicle and have returned it on 11 March 2020 at Hobart airport. Even after 3-4 days of returning, I did not get my security deposit ($500), and I called them to enquire it. The person who picked the call was so rude and was so reluctant to give details. He said we had released the fund and we have nothing more to say! My overall experience was bad. If you want to have a peaceful holiday, please don’t hire a vehicle from Bargain. They will just ruin the fun of your whole trip.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Stay away from them!
We reserved car for our trip in New Zealand, and they ask us to pay in advance. Yesterday,we learned that New Zealand introduced a law making all visitorrs coming to New Zealand to go to carantine for 14 days!
We where suppose to stay in NZ for 5 days, from 17 to 22 of March, it means we will be in carantine and we cannot use their service, all caused by corona virus. They say that they cannot refund our reservation!
What a sharks!

Where is our deposit???! Avoid
Hired in Tasmania (pickup Launceston-drop off Hobart). Still waiting on our $500 deposit/bond nearly a month after our trip, and there was no damage to the car. Poor customer service and still no resolution. This is fraud and has been reported to the ACCC. Avoid at all costs.

nightmare is an understatement!!
How they can still be in business until today still amaze me. They are a bunch of unprofessional, untrained, and non existence customer service I have ever encountered in my life. Avoid at all cost. I have accidentally transferred the same fund twice to their account, and to get a refund, it took me 3months chasing sending emails with no response at all, called them and no one can assist, I even reported them to Fair Trading and ACCC. Nightmare is an understatement!! And after all is done and dusted, a month later they send me an email with an ...Read more

Not reliable
Bad experience, first because the booked vehicle was not available and I had to settle for a lower vehicle with a modest discount and then because I found myself full insurance coverage that I had not requested by paying more than double what I had booked. (unfortunately I only noticed the charge when I returned to Italy). Demonstration of little seriousness.

Avoid at all costs
We booked a car through this business prior to our trip to Hobart, got an email confirming the car had been booked, all good.
Turn up on the day to be told that no cars were available and an email had been sent to advise this. We most definitely did NOT receive this email and poker faced old mate behind the counter could not have been less apologetic or given less of a toss for their abysmal customer service and make not even the smallest attempt to appear sorry that our day was ruined because apparently sending a text or picking up the phone to call us was too hard. Given that the majority of people who book cars are on the road travelling and not reading emails - wouldn't you think a text or a call might be better than an email??

SCAM ARTISTS!!! BEWARE!!!
We are still awaiting refund of our bond of hundreds of dollars, two months since we hired a vehicle from them. They keep giving one excuse after another as to why my bond has not been refunded. Save yourself the headache and cash. They will rip you off!

Stay Away !! Rude and condescending - left in tears
So rude and condescending to us that we left their property in tears, they treated us like 3rd world class citizens - this ruined our holidays. Spent more than 1 hour explaining them that this is not a normal way to treat customers, and as a result missed the spa that we had pre-booked. They also try to sell you insurance and fuel options, and get pretty annoyed if you don`t buy extra services, we felt pressurised and accept extra. We thought that we were the only ones badly treated, until we reached our hotel and read google reviews and we wer...Read more
e shocked to see that they have the habit of charging credit cards for no reason, or finding all sorts of excuses to charge your card after you returned the car. This made us stress for the whole duration of the trip, we were hesitant to take out the car to drive around just in case something happens [we read that even if insurance is taken, they make the terms such that nothing will be covered in the end]. We returned the car after 4 days and are still waiting to be returned our 500aud deposit. We will never fall for this trap again.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Do not use - scam artists
Beware of these - will try every trick to try and scam you. 1. Offered a ‘fuel deal’ where you could prepay to refill in advance so you didn't have to, but the charge was for a full tank - even if you only used half a tank. Picked up a car which had almost no fuel, when I questioned them they said just take a picture and bring it back The same - but the print on the agreement had a $3.99 per litre refuel charge - so what happens, they charge you and you spend time trying to get your money back - dodgy. kept trying to add charges and make you pay for ‘extras’. No good, go with someone else. Said Melbourne airport, but they are nowhere near the airport - use a shuttle to take you to their location.

A motorhome hire nightmare is an understatement and after hire service is non existent.
The vehicle we received looked just as we expected but that is where it stopped. The first night I had to ring their emergency number to tell them the greywater hose was broken and we couldn't use it, the reply was run the water out on the ground, the person was of no help and quite abrupt. The gas stove would not stay on and we had to use a stone to hold the button on for it to work. The air con didn't work properly, to boil water the kettle kept tripping the electrics of the vehicle and the water pump was quite noisy that annoyed any people c...Read more
amping next to you. Sometimes the water heater was warm and other times it was too hot but the clincher came when the roof leaked in 4 places, naturally it had to be over the bed. When I eventually got hold of someone in the office we were told we would have to buy a tarp and always park undercover. We gave the person at reception a list of things wrong on the vehicle only to be fobbed off by saying we will put this note on the computer and our management will handle it. It is now nearly 3 months down the track and many emails later and Bargain have done nothing hoping we will just go away. I HAVE NEWS FOR THEM WE ARE NOT.Similar opinion? Have booked long time when arrive took me 30mins for the key
I’ve booked the car a few weeks before my trip. I didn’t understand why they didn’t prepare the car on pickup time. We had to wait for 30mins to have the key. What kind of car rental service is this? Don’t hire from them

Do not recommend after hour pickup since they don’t use jet port anymore, we booked and paid but left with no car at 1am
Customer service is not helpful and emails are unclear as in when we have to fill in the online checkin to get the vehicle on time. We did it 30 minutes before scheduled pickup hour at 1am and left without a car
Check in staff were rude and did not try to solve or understand the issue but blame customer while claiming they have tried every way they can to reach us( no phone call, only 2 vague emails to remind us to checkin online with no deadline)
Previous bargain car rental experiences were excellent and this only happened when they moved to...Read more
the new after hour parking not jetport(which was a much better after hour pick up car park) Overall I would not recommend anyone to use bargain after hour pick up unless you have done this many times, especially for travellers from overseas and interstate, it might leave you stranded outside the car park without a car.Similar opinion? Hi. I had no problems booking it was when we took the car back. Apex rentals are much better to deal with in NZ and usually have good deals. I don’t recommend bargain rental cars

Has anyone received an invoice for work done on the hire car? The company returned $230 of the $750 they took for a chip in the windscreen but I havent been given the invoice to get any money back from my travel insurance which included any excess for damages to my rental car. Thanks Ally

We never even got a car so cant help
OMG! This exact thing is happening to me just now (Hobart Airport branch) - nearly exact same $$ figures as well.... I had to DEMAND evidence of anything - as I am certain no damage existed in the first place. They didn't even tell me before or after deducting money directly from my account (which I think is called stealing!) I finally received invoices after noticing the deduction and demanding them (which I haven't yet been able to open because I think they are corrupt files), but that doesn't necessarily constitute evidence or a damage report either.

how do i change my booking to a larger vehicle?
