Easy, smooth pickup paperwork and vehicle as booked
Kellie in the Hobart office was quick, efficient and friendly with the pickup paperwork. The vehicle is as booked and operates as per advertised. Had 3 days driving around Tasmania ...highly recommend Bargain car rental in Hobart CBD..

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!
Booked an X-trail or similar, through Rentalcars. com and was pleased with the quoted price but when we broke the lens in a taillight of the supplies Holden Equinox
few days in to our rental period, we rang Bargain and advised them of the damage and sent several photos so that they could order the taillight to speed up the process of repair. When we returned the car we were charged $1231.28 for repairs and days off the road at $31 per day. 20 days after the return of the vehicle we were sent an invoice for a further $1,320 which included a cha...Read more

Excellent service!! Hassle-free!
I rented multiple times from Bargain Melbourne and has no problem with it. On my last rental, Bargain provided me with a brand new car and I actually got into a minor accident with another car on the road.
My insurance for the rental is from a third party agent and therefore, I was charged with the excess that was agreed on in the contract. Despite of the mild damage on the rental car, Bargain did not charge me for it. Furthermore, they represent me to settle the accident with the other party of the accident. Fortunately, the damage was also ...Read more
very minor on the other party’s car, she decided not to pursue the matter. Upon confirmation of the third party’s intention, Bargain claim manager proceed immediately to process the refund of the excess charged. I must say the service was superb. When picking up the car, we have three drivers and they did not hesitate to add driver FOC for us. I was greeted nicely. Although I damage the car, they were very friendly and did not blame it on me. On top of that, they offered to settle the issue for me. Excellent service.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Outstanding experience
We were extremely happy with all aspects of our car hire with Bargain Car Rentals from Darwin Airport. We arrived at 2 am and were thrilled to be able to drive away - no hassles. Great, late model car! We really appreciated having 250 km a day instead of the usual 100 km. You should book direct with them and not through another third party. Will definitely use them again!

Horrible experience - Fraud
I rent cars a few times a year and have never encountered anything like this. I booked a full size SUV from the Darwin airport through Expedia - with unlimited mileage. When you pick up the car at the airport, there is no one there, just a key lockbox with a code being emailed to you (after you provide your credit card information over the phone to these guys). The contract in the car noted a 250km/day limit - since that is not what I booked, I just crossed it out, wrote unlimited (per Expedia agreement) and deposited it into the contract dropb...Read more
ox. When I returned the car (again, no one to actually talk to, just a keybox) I get an invoice for the excess mileage. Calling these guys is a joke as they just tell you to talk to your booking agent (i.e. Expedia) despite the fact that they are the ones who charged the credit card. Avoid!Similar opinion? Not full of fuel.
Car wasn’t full of fuel on pick up. Web site was misleading, pick up point not at airport. If you’ve got time up your sleeve the name says it all. Bargain doesn’t mean great.

Rude abusive service
Thank God Bargain Car Rentals rang me today to give me information on how to pick up the car from the Gold Coast - apparently as my flight does not land till 9.30 p.m at night they offer NO pick up to take you to the car I had to get an Uber/taxi keep the receipt and they will refund me. Once I get to pick up the car at 10.00pm at night I have to get the key out of a locked coded box in the dark and then check the car in the dark and take photos of any damage, I have never collected a car like this before so when I questioned the girl and sai...Read more
d she wasn't actually being very clear with the pick up details, she became very abusive said I wasn't listen and for "50 million time!!" she would explain again. I said I was the customer and she was not to be rude to me and she replied with well don't be rude to me!!! She became more abusive so I put the phone down on her. I when in to my booking and cancelled the car. When I checked my emails later they had already cancelled my booking as I was abusive!!!! After ready many of the very poor reviews I'm glad today happened. I have now booked with Budget who have cars on the airport grounds for relatively the same price, the extra cost will be well worth it. Bargain Cars you probably only get what you pay for!!! not sure it would have been a bargain after reading the other review. Never again!!!!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

BAD EXPERIENCE - WOULD NEVER USE AGAIN!
An overall unpleasant experience!
I was required to leave a $500 deposit because I had my own insurance and would not take up their insurance deal.
The car stunk of smoke and the interior was not clean. There were numerous exterior paint chips and scratches, but no damage list was supplied on pick up.
The customer service was not good, the man who handled my return drop off was intimidating and quite rude.
I had $1300 deducted from my credit card to fix a minuscule 5cm dent in door (no paint damage) because I had my own insurance.
I disputed the claim, but to no avail.
I would never use this company again.

Good service over the years.
I used Bargain at least a dozen times and always had friendly service and good rates. I find them a bit more flexible than the big players which suits our needs. I had particularly good service a couple of weeks ago when a chap helped us out with an issue.

Smooth Transaction
Kellie (Hobart CBD branch) was very helpful and welcoming! She provided us with tips around the state which was very helpful especially when it’s my first time in Tassie. The vehicle collected was the same as the one I had booked. The whole process was swift and smooth! Collecting a car hasn’t never been this easy. Would definitely engage Bargain Car Rentals again.

Well where do you start, Bargain car rentals Darwin - beware -
- Seriously be aware if even considering hiring from this mob. From the start driving down the Stuart Highway both my self which I had a 8 seater and my friend a sedan, we noticed mechanical issues with the cars from the outset as the sedan at speeds around 100km had a concerning shake to it - mine had A very soft steering or suspension feel. Absolutely shocking customer service when something was questioned due to a event of their equipment not working properly - when back at the Darwin city yard the customer service stank in terms getting heard fairly. Called and left messages with the manager multiple times and not once did I have a returned phone to discuss the situation.

Bargain Car Rental Brisbane
I would recommend not using this service. The car was dirty, with a really hard to see through windscreen. The car was also damaged, which got worse just driving it, the front bumper was sagging down so would scrape on driveways and when parked near a gutter. Finding the place to return the car as well was difficult as not at the airport terminal but nearby and Google maps send you on a road you can't turn off to get to the street. Really not worth the hassle. It's cheap for a reason. And you have to get back to the airport another hour earlier to return the car as you then need to get a shuttle bus to the airport terminal.

Not horrible, but not great
Staff on arrival in Brisbane were nice enough and just doing their job. Was informed that toll charges would automatically be charged to my card if used - which is fair enough. Problem was, I was charged for tolls I did not use. I.e. I caught a taxi to a cocktail party I was hosting, and an uber back. During that time, the car was parked and not used and I was wrongly charged a toll. It is very difficult and tedious to dispute. I had receipts, event booking information and photos showing it was impossible for me to have been driving on a toll a...Read more
n 100km at that time. In the end, a month later, NSW Road and Maritime helped me get the refund while Bargain were still seemingly in denial in the final email. Also, make sure you get a physical copy of the pre-inspection report. If I didn't keep it they would have tried to charge me for existing damage as their system was having issues.Similar opinion? Even i DO NOT WANT TO GIVE ONE STAR! Do not try to rent car from this company!!! I have been charged from old damages, they also charge other damages to you together! Very cold! Very high assessment! They are scrabing your pocket!
I was in Hobart, only drave 38km and returned the car in few hours, parked twice in 90 degree angle, no other cars beside me. They didn't check your car before you leaving Hobart, then just charged me 3 damages, which is in front, back and right 3 positions, all were exsiting in condition report which gave to me when ...Read more

Hi. I had no problems booking it was when we took the car back. Apex rentals are much better to deal with in NZ and usually have good deals. I don’t recommend bargain rental cars

Has anyone received an invoice for work done on the hire car? The company returned $230 of the $750 they took for a chip in the windscreen but I havent been given the invoice to get any money back from my travel insurance which included any excess for damages to my rental car. Thanks Ally

We never even got a car so cant help
OMG! This exact thing is happening to me just now (Hobart Airport branch) - nearly exact same $$ figures as well.... I had to DEMAND evidence of anything - as I am certain no damage existed in the first place. They didn't even tell me before or after deducting money directly from my account (which I think is called stealing!) I finally received invoices after noticing the deduction and demanding them (which I haven't yet been able to open because I think they are corrupt files), but that doesn't necessarily constitute evidence or a damage report either.

how do i change my booking to a larger vehicle?
