Have booked long time when arrive took me 30mins for the key
I’ve booked the car a few weeks before my trip. I didn’t understand why they didn’t prepare the car on pickup time. We had to wait for 30mins to have the key. What kind of car rental service is this? Don’t hire from them

Do not recommend after hour pickup since they don’t use jet port anymore, we booked and paid but left with no car at 1am
Customer service is not helpful and emails are unclear as in when we have to fill in the online checkin to get the vehicle on time. We did it 30 minutes before scheduled pickup hour at 1am and left without a car
Check in staff were rude and did not try to solve or understand the issue but blame customer while claiming they have tried every way they can to reach us( no phone call, only 2 vague emails to remind us to checkin online with no deadline)
Previous bargain car rental experiences were excellent and this only happened when they moved to...Read more
the new after hour parking not jetport(which was a much better after hour pick up car park) Overall I would not recommend anyone to use bargain after hour pick up unless you have done this many times, especially for travellers from overseas and interstate, it might leave you stranded outside the car park without a car.Similar opinion? Bargain Car Rentals = scammers!
I rented a car for 3 days from 9 in the morning of the first day to 20 of the second.
I changed plans and called them asking if it was ok to bring back the car at 5 am of the third day (that I paid in full).
They said no problem because they work on a 24h basis.
In the night ot the 2nd day, they charged me 36000$ and threaten to report me for car theft, than, after I brought back the car within the 3 days I paid, they charged me 75$ for late restitution.
Don't rent a car from these scammers.

DO NOT USE- DODGY!
Absolute scam, stay away!! Never had such a bad experience from the Melbourne office. On 24th Jan 2020 I was given a car and also encouraged to buy the “premium” insurance package. Was told that any issues would be covered for. Very early in the day the flimsy key to the car fell apart when I dropped it onto the car floor. As a result, I couldn’t get the car to work, so had to call them out to bring me a replacement car as I had meetings scheduled all day to get to. Upon arrival and with a bit of fiddling around the guy was able to get the car ...Read more
working again with my broken key, but gave me the replacement car anyway. All good until an hour later receive a call from the boss saying that I had wasted his staff members time and would be charged a $110 fee for the call out and broken key, even though I’d already paid for insurance to cover such issues. Proceeded to take the money out of my account without my permission, and I will be launching a bank investigation / legal action to get it back. Not once were the terms of the insurance / call out policy explained to me, nor did I sign anything for it. They just want my money.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

WORST SERVICE AND SCAMMERS!!!
We hired a car and paid extra for insurance. We returned the car earlier and in perfect condition. They later charged us 69$ Without our permission and when we questioned this the man on the phone rona from Melbourne tullermarine was rude obnoxious and hung up on our face. This is unacceptable and fraudulent! We will be seeking legal advice and reporting this to government agencies. Our recommendations is stay away!

Wasted my time
Booked a car for a week two days prior to being picked up. Got email next morning, (one day prior to pickup), to tell me that my booking had been declined due to lack of vehicles. Rang and was told that they had no vehicles available for approx. 5 weeks. I asked why this was not on their website and was told it was a good idea, but they did not do it. I asked why and was told that they can sometime es shuffle bookings around, but they have no cars available till end of Feb. The person I was talking to tried to talk over me and then hung up on me. So I have to now try and find a car to pick up tomorrow. Has wasted my time. Do not try to book online, ring if you must. Give them a big miss.

Head office staff lessons in customer service and phone etiquette
Local staff at the Melbourne branch are great, but it only takes one bad employee from their head office to undo all that great work.
During a straight forward phone query and talking through a minor misunderstanding, Kellie Coy spoke over every word I said. She has a very aggressive phone manner and when I criticised her for this she got even more aggressive and hung up.
I'm a long-time customer but its time to find a company that cares.

Bargain car rentals at Tullamarine Melbourne are the worst. Paid for car hire with RentalCar.com (Bargain) when I booked my flight. On arrival at the Bargain counter I was told that what I had paid was not to Bargain and they would refund me and put me on their system. This was in fact a lie as what I had paid was the car hire and they were underhandedly selling me the platinum insurance package. At no time did the assistant mention anything about platinum insurance coverage. I was also offered the fuel purchase option and told their fuel price...Read more
is $1.20 per litre. I was charged $55 for the fuel option which is way more than it would have cost me to fill the car (Hyundai Accent) myself. I will never use Bargain car rentals again and do not recommend them to anyone else.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

It’s a SCAM!
Booked an 8 seater people mover but for our shocker when we reached the counter at 11pm we were given keys for a 12 seater bus!!! The bus should have been in the junkyard years back it could hardly go beyond 60kmph and unfortunately we also had a kangaroo hit the next day. The rude staff at the counter didn’t even have the courtesy to check on our safety but just shooed us off without any replacement and just filling some forms. Their staff is unqualified and sub-standard at the best for the job. We have been requesting for a refund for the unu...Read more
sed 6 days but they just quote their rules. They are just evading my question about the vehicle switch All they say is - “ We completely understand your concerns about receiving a 12 seat bus rather than the 8 seat van, the switch was done on the day of pickup so there must have been some reason to do that” What reason? At the cost of the customer’s money and safety? They don’t have the fleet of vehicles they advertise and probably over book as well. That seems to be their business model. Beware it’s a SCAM! Never ever do business with BargainSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Do not buy their fuel option. It's a rip off.
The fuel option was a rip off. Said cost $45 to buy full tank. Doesn't even cost $45 to fill full tank. Waste of money. Car mat was wet when picked up.

Dont get what you request
I booked 6 months in advance and paid for a premium 7 seat SUV, requesting that i will only book and pay if guaranteed to get the vehicle i want, none of this “we can substitute” for another vehicle, i was assured that I would get the vehicle i booked, I rang twice in the weeks leading up and was assured i would get the vehicle as requested. Of course what happens they give me an inferior piece of rubbish called a Holden Trailblazer, two weeks driving around Tasmania in this thing was awful. I requested a partial refund and was refused.
So dont book any premium vehicles with this with this company, they probably dont have them and just advertise that they do and then charge you a higher rate.

Good and bad costumer service
The reservations team couldn’t be more helpful and some of the staff at the Gold Coast the same.
Unfortunately Bargain Car rentals hire staff that should not even get through the interview process and then they do not have a complaints process. Extremely rude staff member ruined our hire and we will never use this company again and suggest others do the same if hiring from the Gold Coast.

Couldn't Have Been More Helpful
My husband and I hired a car at a difficult and very busy time (I imagine) for Bargain Car Rentals - 25 December to 30 December 2022. The staff, both on pick-up and return, were extremely helpful and courteous. The car, a simple Hyundai Accent, was clean and drove beautifully. Dan, in particular, needs complimenting on the way he went out of his way to provide us with a Navman GPS unit. Thank you, Dan! We'll definitely use Bargain Car Rentals again based on our experience.

Potential Bargain Car Rentals Beware
Potential Bargain Car Renters - Beware!!
Contrary to Bargain Car Rentals website headlined “Best Prices on Planet Earth”, our recent experience in Tasmania (12 to 26 Feb) with the company proved most costly! In February, we hired a Nissan x- Trail from the Launceston Branch for 15 days with their National Gold Liability Package Insurance.
Firstly, when we picked up the car, there was no signage to say a “no cash” office. Whilst not an issue as we planned to pay by credit card, the fact remains, however, that the customer was not informed, and...Read more
we only found out after emailing to question on credit card charges. Secondly, credit card surcharge was also not displayed at the counter. The staff in attendance said nothing and we only realized this when checking the bill after payment was made! The above are minor issues compared to what was to come. After signing for the basic (Bronze) insurance package with an excess of $5,500, we decided to increase the cover to their “Gold” package for an extra $25 per day for the reduced excess of $1,250. Their staff assured and reassured us that this package will limit our liability to $1,250 in the event of an accident. There was no mention of any other costs payable. We were given an IPad to sign the deal. Regrettably, although the amount of information displayed per screen on the iPad is limited, we signed it and quite reasonably relied on utmost good faith, honesty and fairness approach. No paper copy of the Rental Agreement was given.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
A biggest disappointment
My son was ill and advanced my flight tickets and cancelled my hotel reservations . Everybody was so courteous. Except these guys. Bunch of idiots if I may use the word. All I need to do was drop off at another airport ( Launceston ) as I drove from Hobart . They said no ...not possible . I need to drive back to Hobart with sick son. In fact I am going to raise a dispute.

Our experience with Bargain rental cars Auckland Airport December 2022
customer service messy with so many people to deal with in this business and no one will answer any of our questions.
Last payment was taken out of our account 4 days later when we accidentally took the car keys back to Blenheim with us from Auckland. I straightaway sent them by courier to Auckland as soon as we left the airport. The details that Namashi (who I was dealing with from the company told me what to do). FOUR days later my husband took phone call saying we had to pay for the people mover to be moved on the Monday as we had parked i...Read more

Staff Called Me A Cheap Crap, For Booking Holden Malibu On Top Of Shocking 1.5 Hour Delay, No Joke.
I will "only" ever use bargain If there is NO other Rentals Company and NO taxi services.
1. They look down on customers for wanting to find better deal.
2. Service delays is a norm, expect minimum of 1 hour delay.
3. Low standard quality cars. not washed, spider webs, windows don't work.

Car was filthy, we were swapped to a car with a significantly smaller boot from the one we ordered and made to wait
When hiring car from Hobart we arrived and the car wasn't ready. We were told it was being washed and the car we had booked wasn't available so they had swapped us to a comparable car. However the comparable car had a significantly smaller boot space which was important due to us being a family of five. When we were delivered the car approx thirty minutes after arriving it was dripping wet, so had just been through some cleaning however mud was still dripping off it and the carpets inside were also mud stained. When we notified the staff th...Read more
ey just shrugged. I've attached photos of some of the dirt. This company may be called bargain but their service and attitude to customer satisfaction is very poor. This is also evident by taking nine days to cancel the pre authorisation on our credit card when the car was returned cleaner than when it was delivered.Similar opinion? This relates to my Rental of a Car in Melbourne
For the price I cannot fault this company. Yes there is a wait while they come to pick you up from the terminal. (If you dont want to wait, then use another company, but 15 to 20 mins was OK for me). Take their full Insurance cover. I had to replace a tyre that was damaged because police diverted me to a dirt road because of an accident on Yan yean Road in Victoria. I gave them the receipt, and as it was Sunday they said make contact on Monday. I did and Mina didn't ring back...BUT on the Tuesday when I rang I spoke to someone (based in Tasmani...Read more

Perfect for our Tasmanian roadtrip
Great Customer Service from the wonderful team at the Hobart office. The camper van we hired for an 8 night road trip of the east coast of Tasmania. The team were friendly and gave great recommendations of where to travel. The Campervan was pristine and so easy to use. We had the flexibility of choosing camping sites, either powered or non-powered sites. The van had everything we needed for a pleasurable, and comfortable road trip. Would recommend these 2/3 berth camper van for a great Tasmanian road trip experience.
Thanks to the Hobart Bargain Car Rentals Team, in particular Kellie!!

Hi. I had no problems booking it was when we took the car back. Apex rentals are much better to deal with in NZ and usually have good deals. I don’t recommend bargain rental cars

Has anyone received an invoice for work done on the hire car? The company returned $230 of the $750 they took for a chip in the windscreen but I havent been given the invoice to get any money back from my travel insurance which included any excess for damages to my rental car. Thanks Ally

We never even got a car so cant help
OMG! This exact thing is happening to me just now (Hobart Airport branch) - nearly exact same $$ figures as well.... I had to DEMAND evidence of anything - as I am certain no damage existed in the first place. They didn't even tell me before or after deducting money directly from my account (which I think is called stealing!) I finally received invoices after noticing the deduction and demanding them (which I haven't yet been able to open because I think they are corrupt files), but that doesn't necessarily constitute evidence or a damage report either.

how do i change my booking to a larger vehicle?
