Left us without shelter

Easy to set up and take down however have only used for approximately 3 camping trips. Experienced some gusty winds last camping trip and tent collapsed. 2 corner joins broke. No-one else's tent collapsed. Only had one more night for the holiday - had to sleep in the car.

Purchased in October 2021 at Anaconda Physical store for A$287.00.

It collapses in any wind

published

The tent is very easy to put up and down, its roomy, there’s enough ventilation but I would NEVER use it again because it simply collapses in wind. You can check the weather all you like but its not safe to take a tent camping which will not withstand an unexpected windy night. I had to drag 3 small children into a friends tent at 1am in the morning as the tent collapsed multiple times- I checked the entire campsite the next day and EVERY OTHER tent that survived the mild wind, I think the tent should be recalled. I’m submitting this review as I really don’t wish this predicament on any other campers. All other types of Coleman tents in the campsite were fine.

Collapses

published

Have used it about 8 times but anytime there is a breeze, the elbow (or elbows) of the poles collapse.
Came back to my tent flat as a pancake on the ground last trip.
Too dangerous to risk using again.

The easiest tent I have ever used

published

We are fair weather campers only. This tent is really easy to set up and to take down, I do myself (one female adult). We opted for the gold series, I wish I had got a dark series but the budget didn't stretch. It comes with everything you need (pegs, ropes, even some entrance mats) and has 3 generous awnings. We bought an additional ground cover to go under the tent. It is very well ventilated. The real strength of this tent is ease getting it up and down. It takes longer than 3 minutes to do everything. But one person can do it with ease and the carry bag it comes in is generous. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is I would love if it came with or you could purchace fly screens for the awnings.

Great setup time

published

Wow, I am impressed with the setup time, so quick and easy, I love it, but, it is not very stable when standing solo unroped compared to other tents I have owned, it twists at the top elbows... now that's a break waiting to happen. I highly recommend two ropes on each corner at right angles to aid in stability. I have big concerns about the twisting when unroped.
I had this tent pitched and the fly on, but not roped down. We had heaps of rain over a couple of days and it appears to have only leaked a little bit, about half a cup of water inside, which is excellent.

Brilliant value for money and easy set up!

published

Easy set up and for under 300 dollars a bargain. Used this tent 6 times now for upto a week no issues. Easy set up and take down and always remain dry in torrential rain. Ive seen countless instant up tents not pegged down at all or incorrectly and literally falling apart and breaking on windy nights. People blame the tent when its their own stupidity. This is a consequence when ppl who cant setup a tent properly and think an instant up tent will solve their problems. This tent is up and down in 5 minutes. Brilliant value for money and would recommend to anyone. Invest in better pegs thats it. Thanks Coleman for making a tent accessible to the everyday Australian.

Just had the tent set up for 2 weeks over Christmas and it poured rain. Performed very well. Great Value for money. Just a reminder this tent needs to be pegged out properly or it will collapse. Invest in quality pegs and its a great purchase.

read instructions first

the first night using this tent we had big winds in goodiwindi and an hour after putting it up, a tent pole snapped and ripped a massive hole down the side of the tent, the whole tent fell down. In the instructions it says not to use this tent in windy conditions

Easy to setup and tear down - a well designed tent

published

So easy to setup - that my son says that its cheating. We tested it at a Warburton camping site. It was raining and we were tired - so, very happy to be able to put it up in 2 minutes. Even with the rain, we were kept dry in the tent. For a 6 person tent, we recommend to sleep up to 4 comfortably with enough room for your bags. If its a windy place, make sure that you peg all the guy ropes just to be safe.

Broke on first use.

published

Found all the reviews fantastic for the six person and got a great deal on it so we bought it. Took it down for it's first use on the weekend to great ocean road and we were amazed how quickly it did set up. We had no idea the night was going to be windy until 2am in the morning when all the poles collapsed on top of us!!! We kept clicking the poles back into place and they kept falling down, eventually one pole gave in and broke in half so the tent was useless and we slept in the car the rest of the night. Not happy.

Instant Up 6

last year my waterproof instant tent leaked all over and I had to spend the night in a hotel and go home. I would like to try another waterproof instant tent but could I have a separate rainfly for security?

Could a 5"2 woman put up and take down one of these tents on her own? Do you need to be able to reach the top of it to put it up or to take it down. I would be camping with a 6 year old, so it will be awhile before he can help out!

I think you could lay the fly over, secure it and then extend the legs up. So yes, I think someone your height could erect this tent alone. I did but im 5'6". Super easy to put up.

Thanks so much! That's good to know.

I bought the 4 man easy up as I was camping alone and have arthritis. I’m a bit taller than you and the only problem might be hooking the tent onto the poles at the very top. A crate to stand on could help with that. I can put the tent up and take it down - alone - (I’m 60) in under 3 minutes. Good luck.

Will a 6 person coleman tent fit a queen size mattress bed and a portacot?

3 answers
Robert
Robert

No, I don't think so and if you could it would be a pretty tight squeeze.

Rob W
Rob W

We have an 8 man which is pretty tight with a Queen size mattress and my son's blow up which is only marginally bigger than a Portacot. You'd probably squeeze in, but it wouldn't leave much room for moving around the tent.

LukeCollins
LukeCollins

It will fit, we had two double beds in our 6 person tent. So a queen and portacot should fit easily.
