Not cheap at all.
Visited today for the first time in a few years. First thought was that there is a lot of a little bit. A wide range of different items, however very few selections available. Eg up and go drinks - chocolate only. Greens pancakes- original only.
Price - the same price as coles and wollies. When the big brand have sales, Costco look very expensive. Btw their Kirkland 'home' brand is more expensive than Aldi. So why pay the $60 membership for a home brand that costs more than Aldi? Yes there are savings. $2 here and there- but it will take ...Read more
a fair while to get back the $60 membership fees and city link fees. As a day out it's ok. Visit harbour town (docklands) at the same time. But the food variety is poor at best. I'm not disappointed, but I'm not going to renew.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Live the range but price not the best
Love to go Costco once awhile, love the warehouse shopping feel but huge commitment to purchase anything as everything is in big packs.

Not happy
First of all the $60 you have to pay before you enter them a lot of items when you break them down are the same and in some cases more expensive then ALDI. And not to mention the inconvenience of only have one store this side of the city. And finally some stuff members that greet you at the front had a bit of a attitude. Not very welcoming. I'll stick with ALDI.

Awesome Returns Policy
Costco's product return policies are incredible. We had A TV die on us 2 months out of warranty and got our money back. Our microwave oven had a failed door opening button and even though it was purchased in May 2011 we also got a full refund. I would not shop anywhere else, this exceeds my expectations... well done Costco! This is in stark contrast to Kogan's rubbish policies and customer service.

Bad business.
i cannot understand Costco's membership policy.
I had held a personal membership for a couple of years and saw no point and canceled as it was not worth it for me and went back to woolies for my shopping.
Now however I wanted to get a membership for my comply and upon attempting to sign up they said that the second card holder had to be living with you in order to be able to use the second card. It seems ridiculous to me that they expect your assistant to move in with you.
Well is this is what Costco wants, I have an employee who has a Costco card, so we willl get him to do the shopping.
Another lost membership for Costco.

Disgrace to consumer
Costco wants to reduce overhead cost but two persons always there at the exit to cross check bill v/s goods. Really it irritates me. In billing not even a small bag can't escape through. One thing we have to appreciate those two guys they are faster than world highest technology, that they can compare whole load of trolley and bill just under 20-30 seconds. It's really disgrace to consumer and still people like this kind of treatement for their hard earned money just to save few penny

Waste of Membership
As an American currently living in Melbourne... Australia controls EVERYTHING that comes in to their country. Costco Australia barely have any US Products save for the few Kirkland Products and some of the "basic" Hershey Candies and Chocolates.

Costco Tyres
Purchased 2 Michellin tyres from them. Came back for the 10000km rotate and balance and was told that they won't do it because I didn't buy 4 tyres from them. They told me this was after I waited over 1 hour.
They never told me this at time of purchasing the tyres. No signs or writing advising the customers that they won't get free rotate and balance for the life of the tyres if they don't buy a minimum of 4 tyres.
The following week I called up Ringwood & Moorabbin and asked would I get the free rotate and balance if only buying 2 tyre...Read more
s, and the answer was a YES. Don't buy tyres from them unless you are actually getting at least 4 tyres from them but I not sure if they will come up with something else to not provide you the after sales service. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
1 out of 10 customer service
Costco is such a bad place to shop. I had a really bad experience there in Melbourne Dockland, the lady at the front door that check your membership was so rude, I had one extra person (membership only lets one extra person), she told us to go get a guest list today.
We waited and waited in the line for so long. I ask her can she let it go today please l said it's 37 today very hot day and I had two kids with me 3-4 years old we just want something real quick and get out. She said no it's my job, don't be angry. the other staff said it not...Read more
37 today it's 35! sir. Soon there was 4 other staff came up ganging on me and saying very rude things to me, and not let me and family in. Then I saw a large group of family came in she didn't look at their membership and let them go straight in. If you were me guys how would you feel ? I was really upset about it. Then the other guy said you have to be nice to our staff! In my head I was like I pay for membership already yearly so everytime I come here I have to be nice to all you're staff as well? Lucky there's a very nice old lady pull me to the side and ask me are you ok?. Do you want to speak to the manger?. I didn't want to speak to no one I was too upset. I just want to get out of there, I told her thanks and took my family else where. Thanks Costco for such a bad experience, rip my membership card and don't even want to go there anymore. I know you guys don't care because you guys are such a big company, but keep this up and you'll find out why customer are leaving.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Melbourne costco parking is riduculous. Never coming back.
Came to buy one product priced at about $1000. Could not find the product could not get service. Left, and took 45 minutes to get out of the car park. WILL NOT renew my membership.

The cake writing so bad! The staffs as crap as their production. "plastic cake" fully chemical. It doesn't need to keep in refrigerator, it still OK. I bought Costco cake last time and my little niece kept a slice in her toy box. The cake didn't go Odd.

Rude and unhelpful
We just came out of costco docklands, upset and highly disappointed. This is the first time we ever visit a costco and as such we were unfamiliar with the whole idea of being a "member" to enter what appears to be a discount shopping warehouse. We were stopped by a very rude woman at the entrance who addressed us in a way which kept inferring that we're trying to sneak in or something. When we asked about the benefits of being members we were directed to another area which had an overworked stressed out and completely uninterested lady "greetin...Read more
g" people in. We then talked to a young man who seemed very stressed out, not the least bit competent and was so amazed that we haven't heard of costco which is all over the world. Perhaps being a member of a poorly run, poorly trained customer service people offering -what appears to be- a budget warehouse experience makes sense to some, but it doesn't to me especially with places like ikea who really value customers, their experience and don't treat potential customers in that rude manner.Similar opinion? Awesome return policy
They are the best.. If you have continuous membership and are not satisfied with anything you bought (no matter how long ago you bought it!), you can return it and get full purchase price back(you must have had continuous membership since the purchase date). I find this cheaper than buying extended warranties on my appliances. I never had any issues returning anything. They may not be the cheapest for everything but you can't beat that satisfaction guarantee :)

pretty chaotic. Not much cheaper.
Docklands store was chaos though Icant seem to understand why. Goods are not even cheaper- just bigger though you dont save much. Some things were actually more expensive than supermarkets.

Warning - do not by electrical items from docklands Costco
Been a Costco member for years and have loved it until today. Bought a tv this week which seemed a great deal.
Set it up the next day to discover it was faulty and had pixel issues in about 6 spots. We contacted the manufacturer who had confirmed fault.
Took tv back the next day.
Staff at docklands Costco told us that we needed to deal with manufacturer during the warranty period and that Costco were under no obligation to give us a refund. Staff claimed this policy is on the website and in store. It is not on website and it is on...Read more
ly displayed on a notice board behind the membership counter in writing too small to read. It was only because I had reference number from the call to the manufacturer that they agreed to refund. Due to the attitude and the difficulty in dealing with staff we decided not to exchange tv but to get a refund. Glad we did as we bought the same tv at the good guys cheaper, without faults and with the confidence that we know they will comply with Australian consumer law.Similar opinion? You need to weigh up whether it works for you
Costco does have a limited range, and it's located pretty far away from me. But I have picky cats who refuse to use any other brand of litter. Costco's is ALWAYS $20 or cheaper, the supermarket stuff is regularly $28. You can occasionally get it on sale cheaper than that, but I don't obsessively watch sales.
I use two boxes a month. That's $16 a month saved right there, and membership pays for itself in four months. If I add cat food, that pays for petrol.
Create a spreadsheet of the stuff that you regularly buy and note down prices and get a friend to bring you in as a guest member so you can see if it's worth it for you. It might be.

Australia Day Closed
Very disappointed that Docklands store was closed on Australia Day. We checked the website the night before, which indicated the store would be open. Just wasted all that time travelling and had to pay the citylink toll for no reason! Please keep the website up to date.
