Sorry,Deb56, I don't know the answer to your question; I've only shopped at Sydney and Canberra stores. I look at everything and don't recall seeing any though. The stock is changed a lot so perhaps keep looking and you might find it sometime. Good luck.

Sorry but I don 't recall seeing any lip balm. I do go down the `personals' aisle but it's more vitamins, shampoo, lotions etc. It could be there but I just don't recall seeing it and I've been heaps of times.

About 15 years ago whilst in Anaheim, CA, USA; we attempted to get in to see how Costco operated but we couldn't get past the guy on the door, no matter how we tried to justify a visit.
Then about 18 months ago, we visited again and decided to test the statement that with our Costco membership we are able to shop and buy at any Costco warehouse, World-wide. We did and purchased a backpack and some food items and found that the Anaheim warehouse was so much cheaper than the Adelaide one, although similar items were stocked. There really can't be a comparison, different currency, different environment, rate of exchange is different at various times.

Costco

When are we going to get a Costco in Western Sydney (nepean valley area) where there is a very high population in lower socioeconomic levels? It is a financial burden for many to travel by car to Auburn and it is not financially smart to travel by train as the cost savings only really apply on bulk buys

Opening in Casula Crossroads sometime before Christmas. It appears to be the old Peters store building. (Google Earth it).

I used to live in close to them areas and I can't remember seeing that shop though you might be right

The one at Casula is a little easier to access by car, at least via the M7 (requiring a toll) but is still quite a distance for the people in the Blacktown to Penrith and Blue Mountains, Windsor, etc areas.

Can I get American food price list in Costco in Melbourne?

yes lots of American products in Costco but not everything. You can get Monterrey Jack and real cheddar, Lays as well Q-Tips and Skippy. Just look around and new stuff comes all the time. I even found alaskan ocean salmon that is not farmed!

Lots of American products. Peanut Butter labeled Skippy. (After the cute American Kangaroo??) Sauces and processed food in bulk. Orange colored American Cheddar ?? Cheese. And yes imported Alaskan Salmon rather than our own local Salmon produce. Think of the poor starving bears.

Do costcos do party platters?

3 answers
Girlpirate

There's all sorts of catering solutions at Costco because a lot of things are in 'bulk' sizes (e.g. big cakes, pizzas, BBQ chicken drumettes etc). I know they do platters of wraps that can be ordered but I'm not sure of the full range of party goods and it might vary between locations.

ryab
ryab

Don't know about platters but probably as they seem to cater for parties. Large trays of food like buffalo chicken wings, pizza, salad etc.

Francie7376
Francie7376

They do large pasta dishes, salads, sandwiches, wraps, chicken wings, beef bulgogi, large shrimp platters, huge cakes - some of the larger party platters you need to order in advance and cost about $50.00 - usually this is for cocktail shrimps, wraps and sandwiches. I bought several for a party we held and everyone loved the food! Talk to them about different platter dishes.

Costco frozen dungenness crabs. Reviews from various US websites are the taste very good. Not sure if anyone in austalia has the same experience. Thinking of cooking singapore chilli crabs ;). Thanks in advance to all feedback

Sorry, I can't help with this one but interested to hear how you go!

Frozen and Crab does not go well as freezing ruins the taste. Do like the Asians do and eat fresh crabs. Dungeness crab is best fresh like the Danzig Hairy Crab of Shanghai. If you love crab you cannot go past our very own Blue Swimmer crab, sweet and succulent or a fresh Mud Crab. The seafood in Costco is mostly sourced from Asia as over 70% of our seafood is. Exceptions are some New Zealand crumbed fish and green lipped mussels, USA crayfish that even the Americans reckon is inferior to our more expensive crustaceans and Wild caught Alaskan Salmon. Non farmed seawater caught prawns actually taste like prawns not the Asian farmed cheap fish food prawns.

Can u just buy off.the street or have to.have this membership.thing confused.....

Hi Suzy, you need membership which costs $60 per year, worth it if you have a big family that grocery shops every week. Otherwise tag along with an existing member and if you have to buy anything, you can on their membership with cash only.

Francie7376
Francie7376

You need to have a membership to go and buy stuff. They check for your membership when you enter and again when you leave. You can window shop only once without a membership or go with someone who has one and they can buy for you.

Keith2
Keith2

Membership is compulsory if you wish to buy. I would not take anyone in for them to take advantage of what I'm paying for, simply because if found-out the membership could be cancelled, and in any case why would someone want to do that when they have the opportunity of paying for membership and then later after having purchased goods, return the membership for a full refund of their $60.
The only people that we buy for, are members of the family, who live with us. Those that live elsewhere have their own membership.
