Disappointed for the first time
My absolute favourite sweet treat is Darrel Lea Dark Chocolate Peppermint Nougat. I bought a 250 g box recently, but forgot to check the use by date sticker. I did check at home but there wasn't one. No big deal I thought. I've bought plenty of these and never had a problem. I opened them and was disappointed to see they are clearly past their best before. The chocolate is discoloured, it is quite white. I tried one and it was hardish, not soft like they usually are. The packaging, the carton and the paper bag were intact. I am giving my review...Read more
3 stars, as I have always found this product excellent, but something has gone wrong, so always check useby on their product. While I am commenting, what have they done to their licorice all sorts? The used to be the best, now they are unpalatable. In fact the licorice is not licorice, it is fondant, like the coloured part. I don't see how they can label it as licorice because it is not. It is a shame to see the way this once great company has gone down hill. But really, if you are a confectionary company who used to make fantastic licorice all sorts, why change the recipe to make it disgusting? Just get the old recipe out and make it properly, and in particular remove the coconut which was not in the original version. I note nearly all reviews of Darrell Lea are negative. The central theme is the deterioration in the quality of the products compared to years ago. I also not that Darrell Lea has not responded to one review. That says to me they do not respond to feedback and have no interest in improving.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
That Easter nougat egg has got to be smaller!
Ok so even against the picture on the box let alone my surprise when getting the 2020 nougat egg out of the box for my son, this seasons egg has got to be smaller than years gone by! It’s actually a flat oval shape and ie reckon only three quarter the size. Can someone confirm this and if true Darrell Lea are dumb

Darrell Lea Liquorice Ice Cream Unpleasant grainy
Not at all creamy as advertised. A very grainy product totally overpriced at $9.80 for a tiny tub. I will not buy again. I searched several stores before I found a foodland store in Adelaide that stocked this product. I felt this was a waste of my time and money as it turned out. So sad as I have had other brands of liquorice ice cream that are amazing and very creamy.

Good for a top up if your favs are out of stock without disappointment: )
As our alternate to another boutique chocolate brand, we weren’t dissatisfied with this product, as addictive as our usual high end brand! We get a better deal as grams are concerned with our usual brand but no issues with this one - about $0.16 a bullet ain’t too bad really- the coating on these is less than our usual brand per bullet and the quality of the chocolate pretty typical for a mass produced product!
Good to have as a top up in case your favourite brand is unavailable 7/10

Darrell Lea Raspberry Twists
These smell like nail polish & have a plastic taste. Just horrible - couldn’t eat another one, whole packet was binned. When Darrell Lea sold them in store years ago they were delicious. I’m not sure what’s happened. Very disappointed.

My orange balls are no longer the same
I have been enjoying the Orange balls for years and am now finding they are getting smaller and the taste has changed. Why do manufactures change a good and enjoyable product to something of less quality? Is it to save money or do they think they have a better product by doing this

LICORICE ALLSAMES NOT ALLSORTS
Bought Darryl Lea Licorice Allsorts for Christmas treat. What a disappointment. I thought I was eating coconut ice with licorice. I peeled the layers apart (as you must) and found that all colours taste the same, oversweet and like coconut. If you're expecting allsorts of flavours you'll be very disappointed. Green used to taste like lime etc etc. No longer. Now LICORICE ALLSAME. I won't be buying again.

What has happened to the Allsorts. Christmas officially ruined.
Darrel Lea licorice allsorts have been ruined. Why are the licorice strips so small now? This is a product for licorice lovers! There used to be a good mix of colours too but now they are in single colour blocks and way too sweet. Very disappointed dl.

Absolutely horrible
Darrell lea used to be fantastic until about 2004. They had amazing raspberry licorice and dark chocolate raspberry licorice. Even the giant freckles were good now everything is awful. Horrible

Please fix bullets
Dark chocolate bullets are SO hard. The liquorice is hard and rubbery. Impossible to chew through. Just have to swallow whole once Chocolate gone. When I complained I was told they HAD changed but they were changing them back to original. Has not improved yet!!

What's happening? Why change choc bullets?
The recent choc bullets are very different. The licorice is bigger and chewy which some may enjoy but I liked the chocolate and licorice to be a perfect match and end at the same time. I can't be chewing licorice for 60 seconds after my choccy is gone. I am devastated.

Vomited twice after eating white choc filled Strawberry stix

And then I bought them again yesterday and the exact same thing happened . Began to feel sick and started feeling extremely hot and then I vomited. Idk what toxic chemicals you are putting in there but I will not be purchasing from darell lea again

Well spun Liquorice marketing guff
Darrell Lea(soft) liquorice used to be the best. Since they sold out to the supermarkets/mass market quality has sharply declined. Sometimes the quality is o.k. ( never great like it used to be, but still best in supermarket) other times it is rubbery/chewy bland and this is not nice at all. What is extremely disappointing is that they are still trading off the good name Darrell Lea had and marketing this stuff as the original batch 37 recipe. Its just a marketing scam now. For instance they claim on the packet that - "At Darrell Lea, we've bee...Read more
n crafting liquorice for over 90 years and we're still surprised by its quality." Well Darrell Lea I am surprised by its quality(lack there of) these days as well. The supermarkets have us over a barrel because Darrel Lea is still better( it is a very low bar) than the other alternatives stocked if you want liquorice. The oompa loompa's who are spinning Darrel Lea's marketing guff are doing more of a job than the liquorice makers these days. It is also ridiculous how they are making a big thing about the new pack size with the- NEW PACK SIZE prominent label in red letters on the front. I think you are supposed to be tricked into assuming that the pack size must be bigger now not smaller as it actually is. What sort of company proudly proclaims what is effectively a rip off to the consumer(300gm to 260gm)? Downsizing sellouts I suppose.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Blocks loaded with filling inside!
I think the Darrell lea chocolate blocks are great!! The chocolate is a different taste to lindt or Cadbury etc and is the milk chocolate is prehaps less creamy in texture but is still smooth in the mouth. The dark chocolate is silky and not a dark dark chocolate. What I really like about these blocks is the abundance of filling inside! For each flavour, be it rocky road or peanut brittle etc, you will get more fillling ingredients than chocolate. So I think that is a massive point of difference between Darrell Lea and other brands. Thses blocks are delicous, different and worth a try!!

Not happy with the blocks but the balls are good.
Rocky Road is not good, chocolate low grade and does not melt in mouth like Cadbury, also marshmallow sticking out the back of chocolate instead of inside. Their orange balls and mint balls are yummy though.

YUMMMMM!!!
Still has the same taste I remember as a kid. The rocky road is still one of the best and the peanut brittle is to die for! Peanut clusters are addictive an you cant help but demolish the whole packet :)

Disappointing new texture and taste of Batch 37 licorice
So disappointed with the taste and texture of Batch 37 licorice. Texture is strangely rubbery and there is very little taste. It used to be so good. Please bring back its original form

Majority of the products have gone down hill
I’ve been purchasing Darrell lea for years due to being the only lollies they stock right next door to work... the past 6 months or more however have been extremely inconsistent with the taste (tasting like chemicals) and being that hard to chew and inedible, I’ve found this with their raspberry twists in particular. Also their locorice all sorts have been an entire packet of one colour almost and taste like straight sugar in a square and definitely not what they used to. I now refuse to buy any more Darrell lea products the last packet my jaw ...Read more
is still aching from attempting to eat them and it tasted like chemicals. I finally decided to email the company as I was concerned for that entire packet (this was the raspberry twists) and they emailed back with little to no response. I do not recommend purchasing and for the price you pay it is absolutely not worth your time or money.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Sounds like you purchased the Chinese made Darrell Lea bullets. Try Coles Australian made bullets which are much better and cheaper.
I love them. Purchased the 750gm packets when they were on special.
Their labels clearly state Made in Australia.
Anyway I dont understand. How would the public know if the recipe has changed?
