Terrible experience with that paint!!

published

What is it Dulux? What is in those 15L drums you sell? Is it paint or some unknown substance? Vivid white matt has a horrible coverage with extremely quick drying time that causes paint lift at the joints! There is virtually no technique to paint a wall with that cr.p properly avoiding patches of ripped off paint at the joints. It is ridiculous and wasted a lot of my time! Never never again Dulux!!! Shove it where the sun doesn't shine!

NOT Matt! It’s a low sheen

published

My first review, and yep - it’s Negative.
I am utterly disgusted with Duluth wash & wear ‘Matt’ finish. I rolled with a 10mm nap roller, and it’s got Sheen! Pathetic. I’ve done 1 coat and have a 15L drum of this junk. My other rooms I used Endure Matt with the same process and it’s Matt!
I feel like trying to get a refund, it’s such a large outlay at over $200 for 15L.
I know the response will be call their hotline so someone can NOT make it all better! My time is worth more.
Don’t buy this if you want a true Matt finish

Furniture Design effect clear

published

Applied the clear design effect on Chalk White on a test sample. Yellowing noticed .
ContactedDuluxGroup. They said tannin in the wood caused the problem when the product is a non yellowing product. However Bunnings did not advise that it can cause the problem.Instead of coming to a comprise of refund we get recommendations of buying other products to correct the problem. What a shame and side tracking noticed

Matt paint.... But is low sheen!

published

I purchased matt paint to touch up a few scuff marks but I'm left with shiny patches now. Dulux tech dept inform me that Matt paint is in fact not matt.... Maybe you should call it low sheen. Complete waste of time and money. Never happened with Haymes paint!

No good results

Leaves roller marks, patchy reflections even after three coats. Therefore required a lot of paints and time. Also, underlying colour comes after three coats although the underlying colour was not so strong.

Very poor coverage- would not recommend!

published

We bought a light grey colour to freshen up our walls. I love the Dulux colour range and just assumed it would be best to use Dulux paint with a Dulux colour. Being such a light colour I thought the recommended two coats would be plenty to get a good result, this is not the case. We had to do a couple more coats and still the result is less than ideal. As the paint has such bad coverage every single roll shows up even though we prepped, did the "W technique" and then "laid off" each time as the Dulux website recommends. This paint is such a disappointment, we are now going to buy a different brand of paint to go over everything we've done. Honestly, do not buy this paint if you want a great final result.

The right to repair: which brands are making it easier for you to fix their products?

Can confirm paint is great, bad reviews are user error.

published

The paint is thick, which I find making the spread and lack of the roller flicking paint everywhere to be very advantageous. It coats very evenly and smoothly. I believe lots of these reviews are people using cheap equipment or not following instructions. I used a 12 nap monarch roller, as per recommendations stating a 10 nap to be the minimum, do not use these cheap 5 dollar rollers or 10 dollar entire sets of everything. I think people need to use proper equipment and Learn the proper painting techniques before blaming the product.

Don't waste your money and more importantly your time.

published

We bought a new house and decided to repaint the entire house. We went with Dulux as we perceived it as a premium brand.

All I can say is we are bitterly disappointed with the product performance.

Very poor coverage and walls needed multiple applications to get average results.

Ended up switching to another brand to complete the job. Thankfully that product worked extremely well.

Matt with a gloss?

published

Bought this product on brand and reputation for our new home and we have been left bitterly disappointed. Our professional painter who we supplied the paint to is proposing a re-coat in a colour-matched Wattyl matt because he's unhappy himself with the finish he's managed to get - the paint appears practically low sheen and any imperfections in the plaster scream at you. When he asks to do this at his labour cost because he's embarrassed in his own product then you know it's not just a tradesman blaming his tools!

Its horrible - magnet for marks and especially the Theatre black paint we used in the theatre room.

published

The Wash and Wear name is not suitable for these paints, the marks cannot be removed from the walls. we have used "white on white" for the walls and after a weeks there is marks on it everywhere. It is hard to clean these marks. We just moved into our new home and it is already looking old.

The Theatre black you are not even able to remove the marks that the kids of done to the wall. we will have to repaint the whole room. I will never recommend this colour.

useless paint

published

came back to Dulux paint only because of Dulux paint consultant advise on colour and discount offered, I am very meticulous when it comes to prep work and using the best gear to paint with, so using Dulux note the following
Used white base tinted to an off white mix,

1 coverage power is useless, off white even over a pastel colour it will take three coats
2 finish is very poor, and found the only way to get this paint to lay down without blemish is to add 10-15% Floetrol to mix.
3 If you want to see how a paint company can screw up a paint mix try Dulux

Dont waste your time and money

I Don’t understand the bad reviews - this is great paint

published

Used the wash and wear Matt paint today. We redecorated our hallway and it was a pleasure to paint with. Painted over a totally different colour and the coverage was perfect. Easy to paint with, fast drying and the Matt finish is really good as it has hidden many imperfections in our walls. 2 coats resulted in a perfect finish.

Waste of time and money

published

Unfortunately like many other reviews, I have also wasted a lot of time and money thanks to this product and have been left with poor coverage and streaky walls. I have quite a bit of experience with painting and have never had these issues before. I now have to spend even more on repainting the entire area as I can’t leave it the way it is.
