Spare Triggerhead turbine heads are certainly available and can be purchased via this link: https://shop.dyson.com.au/spare-parts/triggerhead-923181-03

That being said, we do encourage running through the troubleshooting if yours isn't working as you'd expect. You can find the troubleshooting for this here: https://www.dyson.com.au/SupportHome/Vacuums/Cylinders/DC39/22411-01/troubleshooting/check-the-floor-tool

If we can assist further, our Dyson Experts are available via [email protected] and we are only happy to help.

While using the DC 39 on finished concrete floors it appears the multi surface head is excessively gripping the floor which results in making the DC 39 difficult to push and pull. The small rollers are marking the floor. Is there another adjustment for suction besides the one on the trigger?

I don't know of another adjustment on the trigger. I wouldn't use the machine to suck up concrete or plaster dust as this will clog the internal filter as well as the dust filter.

My DC39 brush stops spinning as soon as it hits carpet... it’s not very effective at picking up pet hair if the brush doesn’t spin. As soon as I take it back to hardwood the brush spins again... but I don’t need it here... any thoughts on why it wouldn’t work on carpet? It is very low pile...
Thanks.

I had this issue in a rental with low pile carpet. It was an old house and I don’t think the carpet was well stuck down anymore. As soon as I moved to another newer house I had no problem with the turbo head. Although it didn’t seem like the carpet was lifting I think the turbo head was too powerful for the older carpet and it lifted just slightly which stopped the head from spinning. The same thing happens when I try to use the head on rugs.

I have been given a DC39 Multifloor some time back. I now have an indoor dog who sheds a bit. I am wondering if buying a turbine head for the multifloor would work for picking up animal hair effectively. in otherwords, is the multifloor compatible with turbine heads?

Hi Simon,

Thank you for your question.

There is a compatible Turbine head you can purchase for your machine for $129 with free postage. The spinning brush will certainly help with animal hair pick up .

I have the Dyson DC39 Multifloor Pro canister vacuum. I keep reading that I can stop the triggerhead brush from spinning its bristles for hardwood floors. For the life of me, I cannot find this button. the only button that comes close is the button that opens an airway so that the brushes stop spinning. but when you use this button, there is no suction because the airway opens up. Am I missing something? I only have hardwood floors so I need the triggerhead to not use its bristles at all.

Mine has a trigger like pull at the handle. Not on the head itself

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Wayne,

Thanks for your question.

The button has a picture of the brushbar on it and is located on the handle of the machine, alternatively pulling on the trigger on the handle will have a similar effect. It should reduce the suction level only slightly, rather than have no suction.

If you are losing suction completely, please check your machine over for blockages as shown here:

If this does not resolve the issue, please email us at [email protected] and we will be happy to help.

This morning I accidentally clean the cyclone part with water. I'm just wonder if I ruined the machine or what. Now the cyclone part is sittiing outside. Can anyone here advise me? I'm not so upset what I did.....

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi C Yu,

Thank you for reaching out on Product Review for advice.

The Cyclone shroud assembly should not be washed with water as this can damage and clog the internal components of your machine. We would recommend to continue to air the cyclone (with bin assembly removed) for 24-48 hours in an attempt to dry the machine. Please do not turn the machine on while their is still water visible on the inside components.

Once dry, please contact us on 1800 239 766 for assistance in testing the machine and to book an obligation free inspection (if it is not operational). Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm.

Hi
i have the Dyson DC39 does this vacuum go from carpet to tiles without adjusting anything?
Also does the turbine head come apart to clean?

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Carmel,

Thank you for your question.

The Turbine head does not contain an adjustable soleplate, so there is no need to adjust any settings when changing from carpet to hard flooring. You can remove the brush bar from the Turbine head for cleaning. To do so, simply unlock the side end cap with a 10c or 20c, and slide the brush bar out the side of the tool. From here you can cut away hair or debris and remove any blockages from within the airway.

We hope this satisfactorily answers your question, otherwise please contact us on 1800 239 766 to speak with customer care. Our helpline is open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm and over the weekend from 8:30am - 4pm.

Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi John,

Thanks for your question.

From the description of fault, we are assuming you have purchased a DC39 model with a Turbine head (or Triggerhead) as a separate accessory. The Triggerhead for this machine is in fact driven by the airflow, so if the airflow is strong, the brush bar will rotate, and vice versa.

You can find the troubleshooting showing how to check the long hose, wand handle, extension tube and floor tool of your machine for blockages via this link: http://bit.ly/internalhose

If we can be of any further assistance please don't hesitate to call us on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm.

I need to unblock my DC39. The helpdesk lady told me to unscrew the triangular piece above the concertina elbow so I could remove it but I can't see how it comes off. (I had assumed this would be easy so came off the phone!) Am I meant to unscrew more than the two screws she told me about? Thanks in advance.
I've only had this Dyson for two months and am horrified at all the negative feedback - I wish I'd not bought it as i find it very heavy and not great

Just the two screws to undo. Make sure they are undo all the way. Might be a bit hard to pull it off the first time, but you just pull it up.
The concertina you have to get a screwdriver to pry it off (the end closer to the barrel, not the hose). Gives better access. Hope this helps. If not call them back and ask them to hi through it again. I was able to do it with them on the phone the whole way through.

Thanks for your question.

If the lid of the bin canister comes off, please carefully try to refit this by securing it back into place at the hinge. If unsuccessful, a spare bin canister can be ordered from our website, here is a quick link:

Hi there,

I have a DC39 and really love the results on floorboards, but find the multi floor head this model comes with is not very good when used on carpet. I need more power 'suction'. I find it glides over the carpet surface, not really vacuuming it deeply.
Can you please suggest which head would be most suitable for my needs and this DC39 model?

Many thanks,

The head that should come standard with all DC39s. I purchased the "Animal" so perhaps your version didn't come with it - but it is the head that has the spinning bristles which you can turn on or off via the grey button at the top of the stalk. It came 'out of the box' for me with the DC39 Animal - I think its called a 'Turbine Head'.

On carpets and rugs it really does a brilliant job - in fact be careful, because I've nearly ripped a curtain off the rail when it got caught in it!

The head does need regular cleaning every couple of months (mainly with thread and hair getting caught around the bristles), but it is a 1-2 minute job.

Hi there,
I ended up sending mine in to Dyson for assessment, with a letter saying that I believed this issue should be covered under Consumer Law which states that the consumer has a right to a reasonable expected life when purchasing relatively expensive appliances and that the manufacturers should actually have a duty of responsibility outside the stipulated warranty period. I returned my vacuum cleaner three week ago. I have heard absolutely nothing from Dyson. I have emailed them this week and have still heard absolutely nothing as yet. I keep hoping that they will act in a responsible manner in this issue, but am still waiting. Good luck with it all!!! Cheers Lorraine

I am 51yrs & getting over having chemotherapy & have very little strength & have no problems with pulling (not pushing) my Dyson over carpet. Perhaps you could give the Dyson customer care team a call & ask them? Maybe you have something stuck in the wheels, obstructing its ease of movement? Do you have heavy sand or something in the barrel? Industrial carpet with a heavy texture may require a bit more pulling of your Dyson. I'm assuming you are a man, so you should/could be more physical able than me?

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your question. The DC39 Multi floor has two red "sliders" underneath the head (either side) that can be opened to let additional air through the floor tool making it easier to push.

What vacuum cleaner is best for hard soft carpet? I see lot of negative comments on DC39 for carpets?

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

Dyson machines are designed to work on all floor types. However, a machine with a rotating brushbar (such as the DC39 Allergy or DC39 Animal) will get better performance on carpets as the brushbar spins to remove more dust and debris from the carpet.

We hope this helps, but if we can be of further assistance please email [email protected] and we will be in touch.

Hi Kylie, I would not recommend this vacumm for slate, it barely picks dirt up from my flat tiled floors, my mother in law borrowed it to see if she would like it better then me as I'm trying to get rid of it, she has slate floors throughout and she returned it saying a broom did a better job!! If I were you look at the nilfisk I had one that lasted me for 8 yrs (it got damaged in a move) good luck with whatever you purchase :-)

Andrew
Andrew

Hi Kylie,
I currently use the DC39 on tiled flooring, as detailed in my initial review, the DC39 suction is strong and constant. No problem with picking up dirt etc from hard flooring and carpet. It does not mark my tiles and auto adjusts for carpet via the "musclehead". Agree with Puzzles5 not recommended for slate as the auto adjusting is via suction pressure and although I have not used it on slate I suspect with the uneven surface it may struggle to maintain suction pressure around the musclehead. This suction seal is the secret to the auto adjustment for carpet and hard surfaces. Happy vacuum hunting!
Cheers,
Andrew
