Hi there, one of the attachments can't be removed - it is the purple tube that is stuck to the main body. We have tried everything including wd40. We don't to force it completely for fear of damaging it. Any suggestions? It is still under warranty. Thanks

Pedro
Pedro ·

No sure. Different models may connect differently. Don't like the sound of it though. Recommend you call the Dyson Help line. 1800 239 766. Before something breaks.

Leen ·

I own the V6 slim n if yours is same as mine, the purple tube is the filter. U should not have any problem pulling it out. WD40 does not help and probably would make it sticky n wet, that way harder to pull out. Suggest u put a soft material over the tip, use a plier n gently pull it out. If all fails, talk to Dyson or take it back to place of purchase for help. Sorry could not help in answering. Good luck. Cheers Leen

Hi KT,

Sorry to hear about this. There is a small seal holding the filter in place. It should be able to lift directly out of the top of the machine by pinching the centre area as shown here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gxi6w7uMkF4

For assistance with your machine please call us on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm AEST, and we will be happy to help.

Hi Samantha,

Thanks for your question.

As our machines are being installed on a number of different wall types, for this reason we don't suggest a particular size, but suggest to choose screws that suit your walls, whether drywall, concrete, timber etc.

For any further assistance, please contact Dyson UK at [email protected]

Hi. I have had the V6 fluffy for about 2 months and love it. Tonight I noticed the motorised head does not lay completely flush to the floor when hoovering under the bed or under low furniture. Is there a blockage in the ball to the base of the head to stop the head going flush to the floor or is this normal?

Dyson
Dyson ·

Hi there,

I am sorry to hear about this.

This is not to be expected. Usually, this would be caused by something stuck in the neck of the floor tool. If you look through the neck of the floor tool, you should be able to see right through. If not, please check and remove any obstructions in this area.

If the floor tool still doesn't lay flush to the floor, please give us a call on 1800 239 766 with your machine handy. We are open Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm AEDST.

Can it be used on normal carpet or is it designed for hardfloors only...

shane

Yes it can be used on carpet. I've used on the rugs that i have had laid down throughout the house. It was also great for when cleaning the car.

chaau
chaau ·

I think, the fluffy version works for hard floor only. You'll need a head that comes with the Motorhead or the Absolute versions.

Dyson
Dyson ·

Hi Banno,

The V6 Fluffy can certainly be used on both carpets and hard floors, however for best performance, we'd suggest considering the V8 Absolute. It comes with the Soft Roller Cleaner Head, along with a Direct Drive Cleaner Head to powerfully clean your carpets.

Let us know if we can assist further.

Do I need to hold down the on button to keep the Dyson running ? When I take my finger away it shuts off.

Dyson
Dyson ·

Hi Debra,

Thank you for your query.

To get the most use out of the battery, we use a trigger to turn the machine on. This way, you get more useful time out of the battery, as if you need to pick something up off the floor, move a couch cushion etc, the machine can be quickly powered off, and back on when needed.

My Dyson Fluffy only works for a short time, about 8 minutes and then loses charge. Any suggestions?

Tam
Tam ·

I use a Dyson absolute but if it's similar, make sure you don't have 'max' on which is the circle at the back. I had mine pressed on without realising and it only lasts 6 mins in that mode. The circle lights up blue when it's on.

goldcoastlady
goldcoastlady ·

I dont have mine on max. Because I use mine every day-my floors are not are dirty and I dont mind vacumming now.

Dyson
Dyson ·

Hi Kate,

A V6 machine should provide 16-20 minutes of fade-free power in normal mode, and 6 minutes of fade-free power in MAX mode after a full 3.5 hour charge. To change modes, while the machine is running, press and release the "MAX" button on the back of the machine. You will hear a change in tone and the light around this button will turn off.

If you are still not experiencing these run times and have not yet made contact with our helpline, please call us on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm and over the weekend from 8:30am - 4pm.

Why does Dyson not design a double docking station where you can charge your vacuum cleaner and a spare battery at the same time.Would be great. The least you can say for the moment the battery's running time is pretty worthless.Greetings Dirk,Belgium.

Dyson
Dyson ·

Hi Dirk,

Thanks for your suggestion.

Dyson do not provide a spare batteries as the machine is designed as a compact, lightweight cord-free unit which requires a cool down period in between usage. This ensures that the machine is always safe to use and the motor will not over-heat and deteriorate prematurely.

Kind regards,

Taryn

What size screws do i need to mount the bracket for the dyson to the wall?

Dyson

Hi Chadster,

Thank you for your question.

The size of screw required will vary with your wall type. We would recommend to visit your local hardware store with the docking station and they will be able to provide you with the best suggestion for your wall type.

I have dust & hair in the trapped in the clear plastic section of fluffy head. I have removed both rollers. The only hole is the lock hole. How do I remove this hair & dust. This is a bad flaw if it cannot be removed.

Dyson
Dyson ·

Hi Kahl,

Thank you for reaching out on product review.

Both brush bars of the Soft Roller Cleaner head can be removed for cleaning purposes. To do so, first undo the brush bar and end cap fasteners using a coin, then lift the end cap up. From here the larger brush bar & end cap can be removed first, followed by the rear smaller brush bar. Use the combination accessory tool with brushes extended to clean away any excess dust that may be built up around the plastic casing. Ensure that only the brush bars are washed, not the casing or end cap components.

We hope this satisfactorily answers your question. If you need further assistance, please reach out to our customer care helpline on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm and over the weekend from 8:30am - 4pm.

Hi, I got the v6 fluffy one year ago. I was wondering how often the filter needs to be replace, or is it enough to wash it once a month?
Thanks a lot

Tim S
Tim S ·

Hi, I only just bought my V6 Fluffy, I don't have a clue how often it needs replacing or washing yet. Been through the house a few times so far and seems fine for now

Sam Anderson.
Sam Anderson. ·

Hi Spino,
Once a month should be fine. I generally just wash with warm water & a squirt of hand wash or dish liquid. Then sit them on a tea towel on the heating vent or in a sunny spot on the bench.
If you register your unit, Dyson actually give you reminders to wash the filters.
Hope I've assisted.
regards,
Sam.

Dyson
Dyson ·

Hi spino84,

Thanks for your question.

The filter in the V6 Fluffy is a lifetime filter and should only need to be washed monthly (never replaced) as per the user guide. To wash, simple run the filter under cold water only, no soap or detergent and completely dry in the shade or on a dish rack inside for at least 24 hours (or until completely dry). If you would like to receive filter wash reminders from Dyson, simply register with us either online or via our customer care helpline on 1800 239 766.

Our helpline is open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm and over the weekend from 8:30am - 4pm.

The long attachment won't fully click into the main body or any attachment for that matter, I don't want to use excessive force as it may make it worse, any thoughts? Thanks!

Sam Anderson.
Sam Anderson. ·

Hey Laura,
Just be gentle & persistent. Little bit of a gentle left/right twisting, as you push them on. They're meant to fit snug. Same same when taking off.
Hope I've helped.

Sam.

Hi Laura,

Thank you for your question.

Our V6 range is designed to have a small gap so the Wand does not snap when you are using the machine. If you feel this is greater than it should be please send us through a picture as well as your details through to [email protected].

This happened to me with the wand not clicking into the vacuum body. I found that one of the metal plug pins inside the top of the wand, which attaches to the vacuum body- was bent! If so, carefully straighten it using a small metal tool to push it straight by placing pressure against the base of pin. It worked perfectly afterwards for me. Make sure you attach wand with a gentle click in future, as I think it was the toggling when attaching that caused the pin to bend and misalign. Hope this helps.

Hi my Dyson is pulsating but on and off not continuous. Please help?

Dyson
Dyson ·

Hi Linda,

Thank you for your question. If you ever find your machine is making a surging or pulsating noise this would indicate that there is a blockage in your machine.

Remove the long wand/stick from the machine and test the machine. Is the machine still surging? If the machine is still surging then the issue would either be a blockage inside the gray nozzle of the clear plastic bin or the filter needs to be washed. Please also ensure the flap inside the grey nozzle moves freely. If not, give it a gentle persuasive push until it does. If the machine is not surging when the wand/stick is off. Please check the wand/stick for blockages.

If the wand/stick is clear then the blockage would be inside the motorhead of your machine. Please remove the brushbar from inside the motorhead. The best way to remove it is to use a 10 or 20 cent coin to remove the brushbar (twisting the end cap at the side). Once you have removed the brushbar completely from the head, use a chopstick or wooden spoon handle to either push the blockage through or pull it out.

If you are still having an issue please contact send an email through to [email protected] or call our helpline on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday-Friday 8am-6pm and on the weekends 8.30am-4pm.

I'm wondering if the Fluffy is the right model for me or should I get the absolute. We have mostly marble tiling and some carpet. I have 4 young children and I'd like to use it in kitchen area so there wud be dry foodstuff on floor. Will the fluffy Motörhead get smelly/dirty easily? Wud the head of the Absolute be damaging/wearing on the marble tiles?

Carolyn s
Carolyn s ·

I have 5 kids so I understand the floor crud !! Unfortunately my Dyson didn't work long enough for me to be able to answer.

Dyson
Dyson ·

Hi Lhenson,

Thanks for your question.

The V6 Fluffy model is suitable for hard flooring only, as this machine only comes with our hard floor specialist tool, the Soft Roller Cleaner Head. If you are looking for a machine that is suitable for use on both carpet and hard flooring, we would recommend to look at the V6 Absolute, as it comes with both the Soft Roller Cleaner Head, and a Direct Drive Cleaner Head which is a carpet specialist tool. This means that you can use the correct floor tool for the right purpose. The V6 Absolute has 18-20 minutes of fade-free power in normal mode, and 6-8 minutes of fade-free power in MAX mode (triple power).

It sounds like this cleaner would be most suitable to be used in your household as a spot cleaner, but as you have the marble tiling, we would recommend to have the option of both the Soft Roller Cleaner head and the Direct Drive Cleaner head.

We hope this satisfactorily answers your question, but if we can be of any further assistance, please reach out to our helpline on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm and over the weekend from 8:30am - 4pm.

Hi, I have a Dyson Fluffy V6+. The brush bar is not rotating. I have checked for blockages in tube e and brush bar (there were none), I've cleared all hair, threads etc from the brush and washed out the filter but the bar is still not rotating. The level of suction doesn't seem as good as previously either. Any ideas?

Dyson
Dyson ·

Hi Reedy,

Thanks for your question.

If the filter is clean, there are no blockages in the floor tool, wand or bin canister then the machine's suction should be strong. A reason it may not be (aside from those just listed) would be perhaps if the cyclone is blocked, or there is an air leak in the machine. We would advise to check if the conical shaped filter in the top of the cyclone stays in place if the machine is tilted upside down. Also, ensure that no carpet cleaning products, moisture, or fine powder has been sucked into the machine as this may cause a blockage in the cyclone.

Separate the clear plastic bin from the main body of the machine. To do this, you will need to open the bottom of the bin by pressing the red tab. Once the bottom of the bin is open, press the red tab again to remove the clear bin off the main body. Once the clear bin is separated, clean the square metal contact terminals located on the back of the clear bin and also clean the ones up inside the main body with a dry cloth.

From here, take the exposed cyclone shroud outside, and lightly tap the cyclone on a flat service to dislodge any built up dust. Assemble the machine and test if the motorhead will spin.

If you are still unable to resolve the issue with the suggested advice, please contact our helpline on 1800 239 766 for assistance. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm AEDST.
