Love it. Mostly good with a serious irritation and a couple of niggles.
I bought this fridge to go with the huge mortgage we'd taken on when we bought our first new house. Lovely fridge with one seriously horrible feature and a couple of niggles. On the plus side, it's big, beautiful and, after being rather noisy the first few days, now settled down and reasonably quiet. It does its job very well. Perhaps a little too well since, I'm guessing to earn its 5 star energy rating, it seals tighter than a fish's rear end at 50 fathoms. Meaning it's a bit of a gym workout to open the door. uggle. They hate the thing. It gets worse when opening the main compartment just after the freezer door has been opened then closed. Doing that causes the air inside to cool and contract to the point that the main cabinet's effectively vacuum sealed. It takes such a wrench to open it then that the fridge gets pulled along the kitchen floor tiles. It's a little battle we have every day. Two more niggles: 1. Rather than opening and closing in single smooth actions, both doors (after wrenching to break the vacuum seal) open smoothly for a small distance, encounter resistance, then continue smoothly again. Same when closing. So you can't just gently swipe the doors closed as you can with most other fridges. Do that and each door will remain open a bit before the closing position. Not what I'd call a "seamless" design, and quite different to every other fridge I've used. Not certain I like having to consciously concentrate on this job each time I go to close the fridge door! 2. There's some kind of filter in each compartment that's supposed to filter out bad smells or whatever. Trouble is, if you take either off to check them out, it doesn't easily clip back into position. The manual's useless with this, offering no explanation about how to successfully replace each when done. I probably spent 20 minutes trying to re-clip the one in the lower compartment after the fridge was delivered, and completely failed. So now I have a broken odour eater doohad sitting on a shelf at the back of the bottom compartment. Again, not what I'd call a well thought out design. Delivery: Appliances Online did a fantastic job with answering sales queries and keeping us apprised of delivery time. Very impressed. Not so impressed with the associated installation. The rather personable delivery driver and his helper wheeled the unit into position, attached the compartment handles and took off as quickly as they could. Ok, time is money, I get it. But they'd screwed the handles onto the positioning labels, meaning I had to remove the handles, remove the sticky labels under each, then rescrew the handles back again -- a pointless waste of time that risked burring the tiny grub screws since by the time all was done they'd been tightened, removed, then tightened again. Also, I wouldn't count on these guys to set up the shelves and trays etc inside the fridge -- mine didn't, despite my hopes, and were off like a shot. All up, a rather attractive piece of equipment. It keeps things cold, the auto defrost seems to work, the freezer ice tray works too, and with more than enough space for our needs. Recommended? Yes, but with a few design and operating caveats.
