Horrible printer!
I bought this printer specifically because I wanted to print out quality photos. This does a terrible job! Washed out colors and the ink barely lasts a few weeks and is very expensive. SO disappointed! Printing my photos at Costco and Shutterfly and spending the extra money. Don't purchase, if you're considering!

This is the worst printer we ever bought. I will never buy another Epson printer again. Just need to
This printer is consistently bad. I tried everything. Cleaned and cleaned the head many times with no positive results. The vertical and horizontal alignments, the print head nozzle pattern all show a terrible printing result. I just wasted another $50.00 on ink cartridges that I will never get back. I keep on using ink to clean the print head every time I tried to print a document

This Printer Has Fundamental Flaw
My Epson WF 3640 has developed a terminal failure after about 31/2 years of light home use. The black print head has clogged after we left it for a month to go on holidays. Unlike other printers, which have the print heads built into the cartridge, this printer has an integral print head and the separate colour cartridges are just ink tanks. The print head clogs up and you get a code 0x97 stopping everything.
Googled cures for this and tried all the suggested cures such as flushing the print head with cleaner etc. Didn't work. It's a common flaw with this machine refer Google.
Mine's for the tip, will give about $200 worth of unused spare cartridges to the local op shop.

Just my opinion based on my experience
I spent more on this printer than I normally would as it promised great quality and speedy printer and it delivered both these things at first. I had done research and was thinking that it had all paid off. However, my experience soured and as I relied on reviews to make my choice, I thought I should share my experience. I do not print much and was greatly disappointed when I went to print for the first time after some weeks and received an error message (Error 0x97). To proceed further the error needs to be addressed. According to the web, the...Read more
error indicates a hardware issue. Given it is a known error I was hoping for more support. I could not find much support online or at the Epson website but did try what little advice was available to me. I also re-installed the printer - all to no avail. I looked into having it repaired but the cost of having someone look at it was almost as expensive as the printer. Although it had not been used much the warranty was expired. Finally I have given up and bought a cheap printer (not Epson) that won't hurt as much to discard if it malfunctions. So after a very light work load my WF-3620 is now headed for the scrap heap.

Warning! Do not buy this model WF 3640
It is not economical as it claimed to be. It sucks up ink very quickly. I bought this printer for about a month and the yellow ink would not print on first ink replacement despite using an original cartridge. I cleaned head, reset like over a hundred times already yet problem persist. Inks are costly. Never again will I buy Epson printer. Period.

Terrible Printer-Don't Buy!
I have always used HP products, but when I was working for a new client, and they needed a new printer, I thought oh well, all printers must be basically the same. NOT! They had an Epson, so I replaced their Epson with a WorkForce 3640. What a regret! Such bad print quality. I can't use this thing, and I don't want to go back to management and complain, and ask for more money to replace it. I have an HP at home, so I take work home to print (especially photos) at home. Then I got another client, and she has an Epson 3620. Same bad quality! Such a bad printer. It convinced me to never get an Epson. And of course, wildly expensive ink, such a rip off!! But I think all ink is expensive.

horrible printer ever
Very very dissatisfied. I used this printer very rarely and I did not know that a huge problem. When once in a while try to use it, it does not work. The first time, their representative told me I have the wrong set-up and instructed me to delete the setup and re-set up. I did, but the problem persists. Since I did not have time to call EPSON customer service, I go to kinkos to copy, print or scan.
The second time, I called because scanner was not working, I was told again delete all the setups and re-download & set-up, I did. After that, I...Read more
realized that they are playing their games. The printer is called wireless, but it is not wireless at all, because it drops the wireless and asking me my wireless password multiple times. .Also, paper jam/error messages pop up, but no paper jam to retrieve. Then, I give up. After some time, it stopped printing. Then, I rarely used it only to copy, but it stopped copying. After, I replaced the expensive inks and tried to copy, the copy produces blank white paper. I called EPSON, picked up after 30 minutes. Tried to clean the nozzle or print head, but not successful. Please do not wast your money and time, do not buy EPSON product.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Purchasing this printer was a big mistake.
In theory, this printer looked like a good option, had lots of attractive features at a relatively low price. In reality, this is the worst printer I have ever used. The fact that my printer is currently jammed again and has almost run out of black ink after printing about 100-200 pages since first purchased, reminded me that I needed to leave a review to stop others making the same mistake.
I purchased this printer a year ago (for personal and university use) and have hardly used it because the print quality is so poor. The black prints as...Read more
more of a dark grey colour and has the sharpness of an old typewriter. The few times I have printed in colour, the colours have been very washed out in appearance. This is all with the use of high-quality A4 paper. Due to such poor print quality, I have had to do my printing at work or university, something that I intended to avoid with the purchase of this printer. The scanning function is extremely slow most of the time, at times scanning a couple of pages through the document feeder (one of the primary features I bought this printer for) has taken over an hour!! I have played around with the settings on the Epson scan software (also very poorly designed & pixilated in appearance) to try and improve the speed of the scanning but have given up because it has not improved very much. I haven't even bothered looking at the prices for ink refills yet, as I don't know if it's even worth replacing the ink. I would probably be better off buying a new printer, and absolutely not another Epson. It also really annoys me because myself and my family have had printers made by other brands that have lasted for many years and from an environmental standpoint, it is extremely irresponsible and unethical to mass produce and sell such a poor quality product that burns through ink and is only designed to last a short period of time. I hope this review helps people avoid purchasing this printer.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent all-round printer and scanner
I'm not sure why there's so much hate for this printer - we've never had a problem with ours. Firstly, contrary to popular opinion, it doesn't force you to use Epson cartridges - I've only ever bought imitation ones from InkStation online, and have never had a problem. It does warn you the cartridges "aren't genuine", but you can agree to use them anyway. They last quite a while (at least several months for the smaller colour ones), have good quality and they're cheap as chips.
The double-sided scanning and printing are very handy, even thou...Read more
gh it does take a few seconds flip the page over in between scanning front and back. Scan quality for both colour and grayscale is quite good. Love the huge paper drawer capacity as well - can hold a whole ream of paper at once. Never had serious connection issues with the printer either, and print and scan wirelessly. This has been the best printer we've owned.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Annoying printer
It never recognises its own (Epson) printer cartridges - error says they are aren't Epson. Takes half an hour of mucking around, turning printer on and off, cleaning nozzle, general stuffing about ... also when you're changing the (expensive) ink cartridges you have to force the carriage to open the cartridge holder.

Print quality ? - poor
Refill prices? - Over the top
I use quality paper but the Printer uses it as a sponge!
EPSOM advises using 2XL Cartridges as ink will last longer! Please program this into your product as I am lucky to get 10 copies before M & Y run out on Plain Paper Normal print setting.
Priced at over $100 for a complete package or $29 - $32 single cartridges, I've had more ink replacements than hot meals.
Very disappointing.

Terrible on connection, print quality and always asking for more ink
This is a terrible printer. It doesn't do anything it claims to do well. Print quality on anything other than normal white plain paper is always smeared, especially if it's glossy (the print never dries properly and warps the paper), connection fails and ink replacement is constant (as in weekly). I will never purchase an Epson again!

Cant print in b & w without color cartridge?
This is the last epson we will buy. This is a new issue since the last update. It is ridiculous that with a full back cartridge, we cannot print a black and white paper without FIRST replacing the blue cartridge. So, we are stranded at tax time with documents to print and fax out but cant until we can find BLUE cartridges. CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE ABLE TO PRINT BLACK AND WHITE NO MATTER WHICH COLORS ARE OUT . . . . IF i NEED TO PRINT IN COLOR THEN I GET IT . . . .WE'LL GO GET COLOR INK

Excellent Little Printer - Buy a cheap CISS and save big $$$$
I purchased this printer about a year ago and it have performed marvelously. I use it to print cover slips for product display packaging of printed matter as well as full colour artwork of aircaft, printing 500+ pages a week in full colour at high quality. I find the print is crisp and clear and colour rendition is excellent. Scans are easy - not great quality using default settings - but good enough for my document storage needs. The automatic feed on the scanner saves me time. One of the first things I did was go out and buy a CISS (continuou...Read more
s ink supply system) - for the cost one set of cartridges I got the system AND the equivent of 10 refills for each colour (ie about 40 cartridges). Works perfectly and saves me a TON of money (approx 5% of cost of using OEM ink). IF using a CISS the printer has the annoying habit of telling you the cartridge is empty (printer obviously has no sensor.. just works on pages printed) and once every 4-5 hours of continuous use may come up with a 'cartridge not recognoised' error. Minor issues for the $ the CISS saves me and the quality of the printer.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Truly a terrible printer, heads clog after only a week (or so) without use
I purchased this Epson in late 2017 and it has been an abysmal failure all around. Print colour using the original cartridges was poor and looked faded. After leaving unused over the Christmas/New Year break, on startup, the black would not print at all and the other colours were patchy running the Nozzle Check after the first head clean. It took several print head cleans (with nozzle Checks in between) to finally get the black printing again - this of course not only runs down the overly expensive ink, but compounds the problem in that the cle...Read more
aning pad ends up with more ink on it to dry out, and excessive cleaning can apparently damage the print head. This happened with my first Epsom multifunction after only 2 sets of original cartridges used and cleaning with the new third set failed, with too many clean cycles performed resulting in print head damage. My daughter also had the same problem with her Epson, where heads would not clean, and now this Epson multifunction will not even recognize the genuine Epson cartridges. Now today after some days without use, the WF-3620 started up with an error message suggesting the heads required a clean. THE SOLUTION for all with repeated woes with their Epsons (also worked on my equally troublesome Brother MF) Fortunately I had, in the meantime, purchased of 2 sets empty refillable cartridges, good quality ink and printhead cleaning/maintenance solution. I quarter filled the $20.26 a set empty cartridges with cleaning solution, ran a clean and have now printed 7 pages with the cleaning solution rather than ink in place and still going strong - so I guess I got to use the ink deposited on the pads from previous head cleans. Not yet back to printing with the original cartridges and will try the refillable set with ink purchased once the Epson set is empty - the printer performance has been so poor that it really can't be worse with non genuine and I certainly am not going to pay the exorbitant price for genuine Epson with all the woes for printing a grand total of 55 pages so far.1 comment

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON EPSON
i have enough experience with Epson printers. They only accepts genuine cartridges which HIGHLY expensive. Mine failed exactly just after the warranty period. The printing quality is terrible. It shatters ink every where on paper. So my opinion is to stay away from Epson. The scanner is working ok, but once the printing fails, the printer has to go to bin.

Not worth your money!
I am onto my second WF-3620 printer. I had to replace the first one because of poor printing (smudging over the page). Luckily it was still under warranty (so I thought). Now onto my second printer and it is doing the same thing and it's not even a year old. What a waste of money and my time. I have replaced all the cartridges at great expense a few times. I also hate the scanning interface. It's slow and cumbersome, and at times doesn't do what it's meant to do.
Verdict - I will never ever by another Epson printer again.

Not worth the money or time.
I have had two WF3620s, one as an original purchase, and another warranty replacement. Neither worked successfully and require a lot of print head cleaning to get reasonable results. Sometimes a head clean before every job. Paper feeding is OK although my printer balks at 220 gsm high quality photo paper.
It gets one star because about all it does is spread ink on to the paper. Not necessarily in high quality.

Awful
Beware of Epson printer. It is setup to use only hugely expensive genuine ink cartridges. My previous hp and cannon accepted any number of generic cartridge. $35 for set of non genuine or $88 for genuine with smaller black. Big difference.
I have not experienced some of the other problems others have described but my advice is check to see how they will run on non genuine ink before buying.

hard to use
this got good reviews but I cant agree. already had it replaced once and have had to call technical support on numerous occasions. cant work out how to print photos. the instruction manual doesn't even tell me how to load the photo paper. Im no computer wizard but Ive had printers before that were easy to use. will be advertising this on gumtree soon. will never buy another Epson.
December 16th 2017 Update: update on last review
this is hopeless. had to reset printer again for about the 6th time in 12 months. now for some reason it wont print .AGAIN. another reset. then it will be another and another. definitely buying a new printer but then have to go through set up and hope its a good one.
