Washing Machines Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of washing machine would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.

Useless after only 4 years of use!
We purchased this machine because we thought Fisher & Paykel was a reputable brand that was durable and lasted for ever. We certainly expected their most expensive and top of the line washing machine to last longer than 4 years before having to pay $130-210 just for a technician to look at it, because it can no longer spin out a load without it going off balance despite repeated attempts to balance the load and even checking that the machine is level with a spirit level. I'll never buy a Fisher & Paykel washing machine again, they aren't what they used to be.
Purchased in March 2021.

Do not buy FISHER PAYKEL WL8060P1, they wont cover under warranty....
My machine broke after one year usage, however the customer service refuses to repair, she suggest that I should open my machine after running to check if there is an air bubble in the cloth.......

Having no agitator is great!
I have a family of 4 sons who are all tradies so I tend to do a LOT of washing. I do not dislike this machine but I fell it is just missing a few things. I would have liked to see an opportunity to change the water level as I do not wash my things with my sons dirty clothes but sometimes I do not have a full load so I waste a lot of water. Unfortunately it is also a little noisier than my old Westinghouse machine. You also have to be careful not to put too much weight on the lid as it made of some sort of acrylic I think.
However, I do love no...Read more
t having an agitator as I can put two whole sets of Queen set sheets in one load and I do not have to worry about my jumpers getting damaged. Sometimes the clothes can get wrapped up in themselves as they twirl around in the machine. I have had it now for a few months and have had no problems at all. I hope this helps.
Purchased at Harvey Norman.

This Rating is for the service only as I did not like it at all for my needs
I found the built in invisible lint filter was non existent. I had fluff on my clothes all the time every cycle and could do nothing about it.
It WILL auto empty the water without warning if you try to leave your clothes sitting there to soak for a while at any point.
I had to be Rinsing several times as it just does not sufficiently rinse my Clothes. It Just aggravates me more using more power and water. I may as well hand wash. . I need a lint filter and control over the water level. I would never buy another machine that has no agitator...Read more
. The best thing about this machine and purchase is the customer service I have received from Fisher and Paykel. 10/10 for the resolution.. They replaced it when It was faulty and gave me one that was a little bigger had a lint filter and agitator and gives me complete control over the wash choices including the water level and spin speed. I would always buy from a company that strives for its customers satisfaction.Purchased in April 2021 at super centre sunshine coast for A$799.00.

Will never buy another of their products
My parents bought a new washing machine less than 12 months ago. It broke down the rude technican came out and said cockroach caused the computer to fail. Never heard of such a poor excuse. I have complained to the company as they claim we need to pay for repairs
Stay away from them the service is bad

Quality Terrible
Broke down 18 months after purchase, but then started working again. Has just broken down again, 1 month out of 2 yr warrantee period. F&P have offered to replace the mother board free (this tells me that they known the machine was defective from factory) but I need to pay the call out fee for the guy fitting it. So, costing me another 10% of the purchase price 2 years after purchase. That's a joke. The machine replaced a Whirlpool one we had for 20+ years with no breakdowns and only replaced because we thought a new one would be "greener" .... but has turned out to be more of a "lemon" colour. I would really avoid Fisher & Paykel. Why reward Fisher & Paykel for not being a good corporate citizen, and selling junk?

Big disappointment
Very disappointed in this machine.
Clothes come out with dry patches, I don’t overload the machine.
Biggest disappointment is the washing of dark clothes.....have tried turning things inside out....tried many different washing products, powder vs liquid, always a mess and need rewashing. Very frustrating.
I have looked through other reviews and notice no reply from the company to anyone’s issues.....I will never buy this brand again.

Terrible. Rubbish. Don't waste your money.
Where to begin...ok. just under 12 months wrangling with this thing - remember this thing is ALL automatic, no manual control, yes you can change some presets, but that's it. This is a dum-smart machine for dummies.
Water level is beyond poor, making the clothes rub whilst being wound into knots and twisted into ropes. Mechanical bondage isn't my thing. Thus the clothes don't wash properly, get pilling, rip buttons and damage zippers etc. Water and energy efficient? not so much with 2nd and 3rd washes for the load, then there's the wasted ...Read more

Happy. Been using this washer for 3 months.
I LIKE:
1. My sheets and socks come out so clean, I hardly need to soak them anymore (due to less water being used and the right water temperature).
2. Doesn't wear out my clothes, yet significantly reduces drying time.
3. It runs quietly.
4. Can fit more sheets and towels to the wash than my previous Fisher and Paykel with the agitator.
5.. Full load takes 35 minutes to wash, not bad.
6. The Delicate cycle is great for my most delicate clothes. I also love the Sheet and Towel cycle. Sheet don't get tangled up.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT:
1. The High Efficiency function takes the water saving a bit too far, not enough water for proper rinsing. I turn it off permanently.

Simply the best in it's class !
We purchased this machine from Appliance Online. Not only did they sell it $30 cheaper than their competitors, delivery, installation, box and old washing machine removal were all inclusive of the price. Quite a deal ! The guys who delivered the washer were courteous, respectful and professional.
We have come from the classic Kleenmaid/Speed Queen 7.5kg model purchased 21 years ago. That machine had dials and you choose the wash cycle. Half filled it, let it mix the laundry liquid into the water, add your items, finish filling it, and let ...Read more

Works For Us
I see a lot of people paying out on this washer but our experience has been fine. It gets used every day - usually just a small load and it always does what we expect. My only complaint is that sometimes the clothes don't get dry enough in the spin cycle but I think that comes down to how they end up sitting in the drum. The front panel may not last forever and I am aware that power surges can damage electronics so we run ours through a surge stopper but other than that its been a totally OK workhorse.

Terrible washing results
I hate to say but this is the worst washing machine I have ever owned. Main control board stopped functioning before reaching 12 months of service. The machine doesn’t agitate much at all when washing and water level remains low, hence the washing results are terribly poor. I feel it is such a waste of money and time. I would wish a total recall of this product and full refund.

Reliable Family Washer
Our Fisher and Paykel washer gets a caning at out house.
We have a large family and it seems like it is always running. We have had precisely NO issues in the past three years despite the ratings of others.
Its very quiet and water efficient. It's a different kind of top loader to the old water unefficient traditional style.
An absolute breeze to use with simple touch buttons. The only negative is that because of the low water usage the clothes can be more wrinkled when finished
Lots of use - No issues at all.

It’s terrible!!
I bought this a few months ago, been trying to get used to it, but just couldn’t!!! I used to own a 7kg wash smart, the mist basic model and loved it. When time to get a new one come, I thought going for the best/tip of the line would be the way to go, but no, I was soooo wrong!!!
Water level is always terribly low, hardly covers the clothes, clothes come out wrinkled badly, sheets through the sheets cycle comes out in a ball, yes, operation is quiet - but that’s not much use when all other aspect of the machine is considered.
I would much rather go back to a wash smart.
Do not buy the clean smart, you will regret it!!!

Front Loader benefits without the bending!!
This is my second machine of this type. First time with the AquaSmart I wanted to return it ASAP!! I couldn’t adjust the water level as I had with previous F&P top loaders and it seems to get fluff on everything.
That was about 9 years ago and hundreds of loads ago.
The newest model I considered for a few weeks. I did my research and looked at the options. I came back to the same model type because I didn’t want that central spindle in the way and didn’t want al, that bending!
It was smaller inoverall outsides dimensions (to fit into stand...Read more

Good machine
takes awhile to get used to the way it uses much less water to wash. All items appear to come out clean. I really like the high spin as less drying time required. Clothes do come out all tangled up. It does move a lot during the spin cycle and does go off balance from time to time.

Fantastic spin dry
It's a very quiet fast or long wash cycle that the spin just about drys the cloths Iv not noticed any change in the quality off my cloths so I can only conclude that it's fantastic technology that's been put into this model.
My favourite feature is that I can pause my wash if I realise I'd left something out.

New Washing Machine
So far this machine and been really great, love the dial for selecting the type of wash you want
Lots of choices in wash cycles and quiet, had no problem with tangling clothes and have enjoyed the size and color
like the washing booster choice but have not had to use it yet.

Apalling Machine - Appalling Service by Fisher & Paykel
We bought this machine based on having a good experience with Fisher & Paykel washing machines in the past. Our machine is still under warranty but we're going to get rid of it, it's that bad. In the last 3-4 weeks we have called Fisher & Paykel 4 times regarding problems. Black marks on clothing, machine full of lint and 2 call outs for the washing machine leaking. Technician has been out twice in 2 weeks regarding the black marks which ended up being from mold growing behind the bowl going through the wash. The washing machine is used tw...Read more
ice a day on a warm to hot wash so can't understand how this can happen. I don't think the word washing machine describes this product.Technician was here 4 days ago, machine now leaking water on the floor and Fisher and Paykel saying it will be 10 days before they have a technician available to service it. Just appalling product backed by appalling customer service. We will not buy another Fisher & Paykel product.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Ok but not great
The clothes are not covered in general, so I add a couple of litres of water and the machine thinks there is more to wash so will top up. Not ideal but works. The machine doesn't tangle the clothes any more than the past types I have found. Only spins dry on high setting, once again not ideal. I find the clothes are generally washed ok, but miss the ability to manually set things. One person said you can't add clothes once the machine has started. Obviously, you just pause the machine.

does this machine have a large agitator? or a low profile one?
2 answers
Low, it tangles and rips trouser legs, tea towels, sheets, bath towels
You cannot see the agitator so it can hold a lot of clothes. I have had nothing rip at all. The only thing is that if you do not have a full load of sheets, they can get a little tangled due to all the space but that is not a drama. I have 3 tradie boys and so I wash all the time and everything comes out fabulous. I even find occasional screws and bolts in the bottom of the machine but it has no gaps so I do not have to worry.

Bought an 8 kg washer one month out of warranty and touch screen has stopped working. If you unplug the machine for a minute then plug it back in you get one shot at turn on an select your wash then touch screen goes non responsive again

Wow! I am so sorry to hear that. I have had my machine for nearly a year now and I have had NO problems, touch wood. I have 5 adults and three are tradies so I use my machine nearly everyday and everything comes out so clean. I love my machine because I can put two sheets of sheets in at a time. It is like buying a car. Sometimes you get a lemon!!!
Thanks Janeasked
My CleanSmart washer stop working at the step of Rinse, and keep beeping when you touch pause key, display panel show 2:46.What is the problem? Thanks.
