Dangerous to drive
Ford have lost the case against ACCC regarding faulty cars yet are refusing to fix the problems with them.
My ford focus stalls (automatic car), it will drive in reverse when I put in drive (and vice versa), the petrol gauge has not worked since day 1 and the time on the radio runs fast even though I always reset it.
The way myself and others are treated by the dealers is also a disgrace.

Cheap ford substandard customer service.
We just had a service, tried to get the inbuilt GPS maps updated. It turns out that is not included, if you want to update the GPS you have to go on to the ford web site and buy a new SD card for $200 with no updates included. So if you want to stay up to date you have to spend $200 each year. This stinks! You can go to Jb HiFi and get a unit with life time updates.

Disappointing Ford focus
I bought new a 2013 ford focus. Was good getting the transmission recall done under warranty in 2016 but the car also needed the main seal replaced. We went through 3 sets of rear tyres to one front set and was puzzled as to why this was happening. 2yrs on now in 2018 and the shutter is back in the transmission so fortunately this was fixed under warranty (within 14,000km of expiry) and once again the main seal was leaking and we had to pay to replace it. A week after this was done the steering assist malfunction light comes on as i start my car. I was unable to drive the car and had it towed..its now costing me thousands to replace the steering rack..just unacceptable from a 5yr old car at 140,000km. Disappointing.

Used to have a ford focus
The potential to be a great car, but it is not. Faulty transmission that has a 4-5 second delay on acceleration, very dangerous An intermittent fault in the cruise control, also very dangerous, and the noisiest car I have even driven.on non skid surfaces. Trade in value? Informed people do not want them. The Ford dealership did not acknowledge there were any faults. I offered the manager my car for a week to drive his wife and kids around in, he declined the offer. No more Fords for me.

Unfixable- Ford should refund or replace
What does it matter what any of the good things are when its constantly broken down and undriveable, ford have no permanent fix the the TCM and clutch issues. BUYER BEWARE...
I said I'd never buy another Ford after i had another horrible experience with a ford but i got stuck in a situation i had to buy a car within 2hours and ford it was.
I have requested a replacement but Ford wont honour Australian consumer law they say i have rights but i have to get a lawyer to fight them and we all know individuals like me cant afford that, we are s...Read more
uppose to have rights when they knowingly sell you a faulty product that cant ever be fixed for any decent amount of time but big ol Ford Australia doesn't care that's why they got slapped on the wrist with a $10mil fine but they still don't care. If you a poor owner like me stuck with a faulty car they sold you knowing the issues couldnt be fix then jump on facebook and search Fix my focus, fesitva and ecosport. These issues where knowing but ford years before i brought my car but they sold my car (2015 LM Mk2) to me in Jan 2016 and never disclosed the issues to me. Had i know i would not have brought it full stop.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Terrible DSG auto gearbox and other problems
Awful DSG auto gearbox - shuddered and hesitated when you most needed it. Dealer just fobbed off my complaints - blamed my driving style. Claimed to fix the problem every time I took the car in but nothing changed. Had to replace brake disks after only three years. Brake pads wore through in record time. No longer have any trust or faith in Ford. Will never buy another Ford.

Excellent handling
We have 2013 auto turbo diesel S.
Great pulling power when turbo kicks in. Around 6.5 Lts per 100 km. Very economical. We can drive from Sydney to the Gold Coast on a tank.
Front seats have great support. Driving position is totally adjustable to suit any body shape. We have silver paint and car looks great. I replaced Michelin tyres with same, not great mileage, but excellent braking and handling. 60k service just completed. It was having transmission vibration issues with rough changes. 60k transmission oil and filter replaced and now drives like new again. Don’t go longer than 4 years or 60k to change trans oil or you will have same problem.
All in all, we are very Happy with equipment level and value.

Ok
Brought privately (mistake) has 26,000 on odometer and it started shuddering upon acceleration . Took it to nova ford and they found someone had not put the could connections back in their correct place . No problems since but after reading all the bad reviews for this car I will sell it as I have no confidence in it . The ford fixed to the tcm and clutch material will probably be sufficient but would rather get rid of it .

Good car - still few to improve.
Fuel consumption is O.K considering the 2.0L engine. Car boot size is average. People sitting in rear seats will suffer a little bit because of the small room for legs. Side mirrors don't give the best vision angle. Car speed and acceleration is great. Brakes are fine. All options are handy: cruise control, Bluetooth, Phone keypad, information screen and multifunction wheel. Front seats are great and far better than the rear ones. AC is powerful.

Great car
The focus provides a reliable and decent driving experience. Runs fairly quietly, although there are some issues with clunky gear changes in the transmission which is a known fault in this model. Great on fuel Approx 15L/100k. Great boot space for a small sedan. Interior is pleasantly furnished and dashboard easy to read and access

Was great car until.......it wasn't!
I bought this 2012 Ford Focus Titanium LW Mk2 as a new car. I loved this car and it ran perfectly UNTIL around the 12 month mark. I then had ongoing issues with the clutch and transmission. My local ford dealership were great to work with but unless the car showed an error (in computer systems) or playing up whilst with them, they were at a loss. I ended up videotaping the final issue as evidence of the shuddering, gear change hesitations and over-revving, nose-diving and general noise. I had some big repairs completed over the nearly 5 yrs I ...Read more
owned it with the final being the replacement of the TCM. I was reassured that all the problems were fixed however I had lost faith in the car and was stressed when driving it. I have just traded the car and hope that it was fixed so the next owner doesn't have issues. The car only had 54,000 km when traded and should have still been like a new car. This car was brilliant when running properly however after the stresses over the years I would never recommend buying a Ford to anyone and neither would I ever ever EVER buy another Ford vehicle!Similar opinion? Be careful
When buying this car make sure you check Transmission, Coolant leak inside the car on driver side and check if the alternator is over charging on the battery. lf you don't have any of these problems its a great car.
The biggest pro for this car its cheap on fuel.

Not happy with transmission issues...
had purchased a 2014 Ford Focus and never knew that it has a huge transmission issue caused by the (TCM). Honestly, all I know is that, if a car has a problem, it shouldn’t be running. But in my case, I was looking for an affordable and reliable car, so I got my eye on focus.... So now that I ended up taking the car for the same problem, over 8 times, in a period of 18 months, the great news has to come from the service guy at Ford and that is, my car will always have the same issue cause Ford can’t find a solution for it, and even if they change the transmission, it will fail again and again and again! How nice is that! They forgot that there is something called the Lemon law.

Dodgy transmission - Dodgy heater pipe in drivers compartment - terrible customer service
The automatic transmission is dodgy and their is huge class action launched. Please see attached link http://fordclassaction.com.au/
Because Ford have been dodgy when people have complained about the dodgy transmission, they are now being sued by the ACCC. Please see attached link.

Constant Transmission Trouble
I bought this car in 2016, 2 litre petrol version.
Since that time i have needed a number of repairs.
1. Transmission Control Module
2. Transmission Dual Clutch
3. Transmission Timing Cover
There seems to be a common theme here, all about the transmission? Ford don't seem to think so.

Little Legend
I bought this focus second hand from a dealer. Ever since I came across these cars I just loved their colours and even the shape as well as the powder coated black mags. I had a budget of 18k and ended up breaking away from that because I had to get my dream car. Anyhow, it looks like a hot beast, has leather recaro seats with the colour contrast, that are extremely comfortable except when your a larger person and can't fit in them because they do hug you. I do know that if you're taller than 6ft 2 you do find it difficult to store your legs so...Read more
mewhere, however I'm 6 ft and fit comfortably. The back seats are built for children because even though they're comfortable you can't own long legs to fit. I get around 500k's per tank, however I don't drive slowly so it could go longer. The wheel lock for steering is probably the worst point. Even when you have it on a hard turn, it isn't very good, so if you have to park in little areas, you have to patiently move around a lot to finally get parked. It's a quiet car to drive, you can hear the turbo inside but from a bystanders point of view, you wouldn't know it had one. An improvement would be to get a louder exhaust system to make heads turn. The actual running cost, excluding petrol is about $600 a year in servicing. I've only had the starter motor jam once and it got over itself once I did a hill start. 2 things I will commend is its incredible sound system... it never peaks out and it's large boot -can pick up many cases from the airport. All in all, it's a great get around car and get away car.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great car and cheap on fuel !!
I love my ford focus, it is so easy to drive and has all the gadgets you need to get into those tricky places :) The fuel consumption is amazing at only $50 a tank about 90% of the time and never goes over $55 to fill up. I have a turbo diesel version and love it. Very roomy and spacious for a hatchback. Never had a problem with it and only pay for the service itself. In love and will keep it for a long time. Would be great for learners and provisional drivers also.

good one
Im still in P1. This car is really good. It's the ideal car for the one who like speed and the sound of engine. The smell is kinda weird inside but not too much. The design of AUX jack and USB's place are also weird. They took me so long to find. This car is really fuel efficient. Highly recommended

So far so good
Just purchased this car second hand with 45,000kms on it.
I really like the styling of both the interior and the exterior.
So far so good on the performance - I really enjoy how it drives and the very comfortable driving position. It has plenty of features, a decent stereo, and enough power when you need it.
Will be a good commuter for me.

Good day. My headlights dont want to go on . High beam and parks are fine. Fuze inside is also fine .Where is the relay for the headlights? Ford focus mk3
1 answer
Theo, I think you'd best find a reliable auto electrician. It will probably save you a lot of time and frustration. Your local Ford dealer might be worth a quote, and remember you don't need to have it fixed there if it will be too expensive. Sorry I can't help more.
