Great car with disaster transmission
As far as. Performance, comfort, economy and functionality go this Ford Focus is a great little car for the price. It's only fault, and it's a bigger, is the power shift transmission. It's been introduced without enough testing and Ford is paying an enormous cost. My 2013 model has had two reboots and four replacement clutches in 80000klms.
To Ford Australia's great credit, they have offered a very generous proposal to replace my vehicle with a new model, which is a vast improvement on the LW model.
If you are one of the unfortunate owners of a problem car, I urge you to talk quietly to your dealer.

great car so far
I have been very impressed with the handling, included features and look of the car . I found all of the transmission complaints after I bought the car, however, to date mine has been spot on .. I can only hope this continues . The car has auto wipers, dual climate control, auto headlights and 17 inch alloys

Dislike very much
My driving experience for the Ford Focus Trend had been a nightmare! It has severe transmission issues and it has continually had to be serviced as new issues have arised. The handling has been good but take off and noise has left me alarmed for my safety. The shuddering noise from the clutch shakes the whole car and delays acceleration.
I like the comfy seats and the Bluetooth connection and technology is great.
Very good on petrol

great zippy car
This is the first car i purchase myself. I loved my car its great its got the up and go when you need it but its also great for just a pleasantly drive.
I have had some problems with the car i.e i had to have the clutch replaced as it was faulty, the entertainment system had a melt down and had to go back in to get reset.
I find if i fill up with BP ultimate the fuel last but if i fill up with caltex it goes down really fast.

Sporty and versatile hatch
I bough the ST to replace my Pulsar SSS in 2014 and have loved every minute with it. So much fun to drive, comfortable, good looking, very reliable and very well built. I've looked after it well and almost four years later it still looks new and modern. Goes like a scalded cat too! A highly recommended motor.

I love my Ford!
I am not sure why there are so many bad reviews for this car. I have had mine for the last 3 years and it has been nothing but a pleasure to drive. It brings me great fuel economy through town and on the highway and it is super easy to park.
I haven't had any mechanical issue with the car and have always had it regularly serviced. I don't see myself driving anything else any time soon.

Not sure sure if I like it but I can definitely be better
Bought a brand new automatic 2012 Ford focus Hatchback in 2013. The car started having problems soon after I got it. The passenger window stopped working after a few weeks. A few months in and the clutch problem that EVERYONE is talking about came up (what a surprise right?). So basically the car started making noises when shifting gears. I took it to the shop and sure enough the transmission was failing. The dealer took a good year to get me a new transmission and keep "trying" other methods like resetting the internal system several times. I ...Read more
must say, because I bought it new, it did not cost me a penny but it's not a great experience anyway. I don't know if the newer models dealt with this problem already but I would stay away from 2011-2014 models if I were you.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

One of my best choices
Considered in economical way, I exchanged Ford Focus after sold my JP Wrangler 2 doors. Before making such a frustrated decision, I hesitated on selecting a car. But when I try Focus in the dealer, I thought this can be a great alternative to the Wrangler. The power is not too bad when you slightly step on the accelerator. Also it's a smart car with 6 speed transmission can transfer between auto and manual. I also thought the stereo effect is better than Wrangler. The only 1 disappointed thing was I loose my wrangler.

One of the Best Lemons Ford Have ever Produced
LW Mk2 Titanium, supposedly the Top of the range Focus you can buy. What can I say, A major disappointment. A ford "Werke" product imported all the way from Germany, must be right?. Uh Uh Wrong man!!!. Don't know what kind of "Werke" or "Work" they were doing in Germany but it's Wrong Wrong Wrong !. Had I read the reviews on the issues with this model car, I wouldn't of walked away but instead, Run the other way!. A plethora of reviews for this car is widely available on the internet. One quickly learns that everyone who bought this car, all ha...Read more
d the same problems. Transmission (TCM) and clutch issues. As per "Boo's" review dated 13/05/17, "Ford you dirty dogs" !!, Shame on you. You close down Australian car manufacturing in this country and import this rubbish. BLOODY UNAUSTRALIAN!!. Not to mention that lame letter you send out informing that you are aware of the problem and will give you an extra year warranty on the gearbox. What happens when the warranty runs out, you're up for $2000 plus to repair the gearbox!!. Ford, you are shameful and thinking "this one will slide by to the keeper without anyone noticing" is reprehensible. You have damaged your brand beyond repair. I have always been a blue oval fan and now, I'll never look at / buy another ford again. This model in Petrol / Auto to be avoided. Apparently the diesel & manuals seem to be ok. It would be a wiser move to look elsewhere. PPS Car to be parked alongside other lemons widely available e.g. Daewoo.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Worse Cars Ever!!!
NO ONE BUY THE FIESTA/FOCUS! This car should be dead and buried along with the Fiesta! These models have faulty transmission/clutches and shouldn't be on the roads! If you drive these faulty cars then you're pretty much sitting in your own coffin. FORD YOU DIRTY DOGS, RECALL THESE CARS YOU PATHETIC COMPANY!!!!

A great, prestige and smart looking car ruined by bad business decisions.
The car is a masterpiece, it runs beautifully and the 2.0 engine is bulletproof yet economical. However there is a major problem. The transmission is A PILE OF CRAP. It stalls on takeoff (especially on hot days) and changes gears very high in the rev range. It makes the car annoying and almost unsafe to drive in some cases. It also isn't the biggest car around, it can barely fit the 4 of us in some cases. They made the interior too stuffy and lost a lot of room. Do not buy unless you want an unsafe car. I want to love it, but I can't love a broken car.

Great hatch. Heaps of grunt and perfect handling
I bought a new Ford Focus Trend in 2013. 2-litre turbo diesel with the 6 speed Powershift dual-clutch transmission. My previous car was a 2006 VW Jetta diesel auto.
The Ford Focus is just about everything the VW Golf is. They have the technology, handling, sportiness etc. (except mine was the cheapest model with the diesel, so it didn't have climate control or auto wipers, these are in the next models up). At $27,500 for the auto diesel with towbar fitted, drive away, it was about $6000 cheaper than an equivalent Volkswagen.
My favourite ...Read more
things about the Focus were: > The power / torque > No turbo lag at all > The gearbox is always in the right gear, seems to be much smarter than VW's software > Handling is fantastic it just sits dead flat but still rides well > In a near miss crash scenario at 120km/h it took a right angle corner and still stayed on its wheels incredibly well - far harder cornering than you would ever do on purpose!Similar opinion? Google the Focus Powershift transmission before you even consider this car.
Have had 5 clutches in last six months Ford has some serious redesign work on the transmission and their customer service Handles like it's at sea on rough waters. Not dependable been in for service 20 days. Seriously review prior to purchasing; also I know of thee class action lawsuits in this car.

Death trap
Had problems with transmission from 5 months old. Shuddering, jerking, gears not engaging, dead spots. Flagged problem and was dismissed. Eighteen months later I asked them to begin documenting. Car now nearly 5 years old, 4 clutches later, 2 transmission control modules, and still not fixed. Never had that new car feeling. I was sold a faulty vehicle. Class action against Ford now in courts. Be warned and do not buy this car. Look at Fix our Ford Facebook site for further information.

Don't waste your money & do your homework !!!
I bought my 2013 Ford Focus 'Sport' in mid 2015 as a replacement for my Pulsar Q. For the first 12 months, the only thing that needed replacing was the 12V car battery - fair enough. However, in mid 2016, that's when the fun started ! I started to notice what I would describe as random 'clutch shudder', but in an auto ? In the last 4 months, it has been returned to the Dealership 4 times ( twice in the last 2 weeks on a tow truck ) for:
1: Clutch/gearbox diagnostics & firmware update. 2: New clutch assembly. 3: No gears & Engine Master Fault...Read more

AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE
The car is a death trap, it shudders & jerks and will lurch forward into traffic. I have had 3 clutches replaced and about to have a 4th under the warranty but this is not fixing the problem. Car has been sold with a manufacturing defect that Ford are unable to fix. This car has been back in 7 times for the same problem and the problem keeps coming back. 50,000 Focus owners are currently caught up in this nightmare with these cars. AVOID FORD.

Ford Quality Can't get any better!!!!
Told German design Impressive, bought it.
Realise same ford- Fix or repair daily.
Daken to the dealership with noise in the front end bearings while turning left or right sharp.
Spent months in going forward backwards, Several software updates to fix a mechanical problem.
Months (over 2 years) later given up and driving happily knowing its just a Ford.
All my friends have been sinsierly been advised not to go towards a ford a dealer.
Compleat rip off as always been.

Had enough of the shuddering
Was a Lovely car and driving was great until the Powershift gearbox started shuddering again and again and 2 more times, among other issues. . Had stopped at intersection car stalls, had to get it towed to dealer Driving on freeway grandchildren in car, accident ahead had to drive bumper to bumper, alarm indicator comes on Transmission over heating pull over and stop for 10 mins, joke on freeway no chance of that, kids beside themselves as am i, luckily the traffic started to move faster, thank god for that last straw my grandkids are worth more than this focus .

Good day. My headlights dont want to go on . High beam and parks are fine. Fuze inside is also fine .Where is the relay for the headlights? Ford focus mk3

Theo, I think you'd best find a reliable auto electrician. It will probably save you a lot of time and frustration. Your local Ford dealer might be worth a quote, and remember you don't need to have it fixed there if it will be too expensive. Sorry I can't help more.
