absolute rubbish
The worst car I have ever purchased or driven. Bought the Titanium model brand new and have been back to the dealer 10 times in the last 2.5years. Have been drip-fed lies from Ford such as 'the car is learning your driving style', 'the car is a one-driver only car', 'you just need to take off harder on the accelerator', 'the car is not really designed to drive on hills' and the worst of all 'we have road tested the car and it is fine, it must be the way you drive it that is causing issues'.
The car shudders like a bucking bronco on take off a...Read more

Worst Car Ever! Never buying a Ford ever again!
I purchased my Ford Focus, Titanium in 2012. I was a loyal Ford customer, and I loved the brand, however, this vehicle has completely made me re-think Ford as a company completely. The transmission is terrible. The customer service I experienced from Ford was an absolute disgrace, and I wouldn't wish this vehicle, or the customer service upon my worst enemy, or even Hitler!
I took my car into Ford a total of 22 times, in the space of three (3) years in regards to the horrific shuddering, loss of power and general overall safety aspect. What...Read more
did I get, a software upgrade, which, mind you fixed the shuddering for only 3-4 days before it was back to its normal crappy self. I would NEVER return to a Ford vehicle in my lifetime, no matter how good the reviews may be in years to come. They have burnt me. This car is not reliable, stay away, buyer beware. Class action currently underway.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Not perfect but can easily put a smile on your face
Firstly just like to say unlike the petrol models the diesels have a different gearbox and it's great (Petrol's have a dry clutch while diesel's have a wet clutch). If you are interested in buying a diesel focus ignore the talk about gearbox issues the wet clutch gearbox doesn't have any issues.
Okay now after driving Falcons for years (BA Xt lpg & FG mk2 Ecolpi XR6) I wanted something smaller buy still with the low end power. I bought a 2014 diesel sport hatch new and love it. The torque of the diesel is fantastic for overtaking and getting o...Read more

The crappiest car ever!
We bought our Focus in December 2013 brand new after having been happy Ford customers for years - even had a brilliant 2007 Focus. Well, all it took is this one car (read heap of junk) to completely swear off Fords for the rest of my life. Shudders all the time, already had 1 transmission replaced to no avail, several software updates also to no avail. The last 'update' on Friday just gone and the thing lost power and shuddered uncontrollably going uphill on the way home! I am frightened that one day whilst sitting at lights, when I try to acce...Read more
lerate and once again the car does nothing, that someone will rear-end me. I am scared to drive this car. And last week, I selected reverse in a car park, accelerated and just sat there. Now the gearbox is going! But the absolute worst is the lies and cover ups by Ford, everyone who owns this lemon is now stuck with a vehicle that is worth less than the money owed and will be worth nothing when trade-in time comes (not soon enough). I am thoroughly fed up with the smug attitude at my local dealership. I just hope the Bannister Law class action is successful, as I have joined it. I want my money back.Similar opinion? I loved my JCW Mini Cooper S, but it pales in comparison to the ST
The Mini was my absolute dream car for years and I loved having it. Though is was now 8 years old and the standard BMW electrics were costing me, plus the wife and I were talking children. So something new and bigger were on the cards.
So it came down to the Focus ST, Opel Astra Turbo, Renault Magane Cup 285, Hyundai Veloster Turbo.
Opel went as they were killing the brand off. Veloster was getting very mediocre writeups, so it ended up the Renault and Ford.
The Ford was so far the winner, I loved the look and being able to sit in the back s...Read more

Don't even think about it.
Bought used car with still a couple of months on the factory warranty. Started shuddering and jerking after 1 week. (think that's why it was probably traded) Then the drivers wiper would stop mid wipe for no reason. Of the 4 months I owned this lemon it was off road for over 2 of those months due to wipers not working. Ford had it back 6 times and still couldn't fix it . My kids bought me a dash cam to capture all the wiper faults so that i had proof it was doing while driving as i'm sure the dealership didn't believe me. Well, i showed them, l...Read more

Mechanical nightmare
In a few words, a load of rubbish. After 4 computer upgrades still shuddering but not as bad.
My wife will certainly be in a renault next time. Its next service is due soon and will be covered by the recall letter we got from ford.
As for me I was going to look at the new pony car but after this experience no way.
Still even with all its faults I can see some light at the end of the tunnel. The interior is reasonably set out and instruments are easily read front seats are so comfortable with plenty of back support 'specially for my back. The...Read more

Best car Owned in last 60 years
I have never owned a Ford before this purchase. Previously my leaning has always been towards European quality vehicles. The Ford Focus is obviously European designed and I feel that this model the designers have for me gone as close to perfect as possible.
My car is the 2 litre turbo diesel Titanium model which is the top line, not cheap by any standard but excellent quality and I really do like all the whistles and bells as they are all very useful and user friendly.
My favorites are the self parking which is unreal and a pleasure to use, p...Read more

Titanium is an amazing car!!!
For $31k this car has smart cruise ( the best invention on a car) and autonomous parking. It drives so smooth and is so economical. This car doesn't get enough press. Shop around save yourself $$$$ from you European cars which cost an arm and leg to fix. Great job ford

Great car let down by a few niggles
Have driven 96,000 Kms in the Focus which is a Diesel Sport. I love this car and will probably hang on to it until about 150,000 or more. What I like about it: THE POWER!!! It goes like a rocket and even has a hint of a rorty note in S mode (which is heaps of fun), the handling is superb, averaging 6.4 litres per 100k and I do a lot of peak hour driving, no issues with the gear box at all (I hear diesels have a wet gear box different to the petrol) and in fact it is remarkably smooth and always finds the right gear (it's a little slow off the m...Read more
ark), the interior is excellent with no rattles or degradation in plastics, the Sony sound system pumps, two of the Michelin tyres lasted over 70,000 and two are still going at 96,000. The only bugbear has been the Sync sound system which occasionally freezes up on USB requiring a fuse pull or waiting 3 weeks for it kick back on (it's always 3 week go figure). Servicing has been cheap once I ditched Ford who always try to upsell you from the capped price service (wipers, injector flush is a massive rort). I replaced the Michelins with Khumos as whilst they are quieter they do feel the roll sideways around corners - freaking Kmart goons sold me these. I have looked up used prices and if you can pick one up with 50k on it for under $18,000 that is a bargain. Just stick to the Diesel to avoid gearbox issues. Mine hasn't even showed a hint of having a gearbox issue (touching wood as I write this).Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

New car purchase nightmare
After shouting myself a brand new Focus ( having had a 2007 model and loved it) I thought I was going to really enjoy it. WRONG. Within weeks I had reported that the shuddering was not normal nor safe as it was close to stalling. Eventually Ford acknowledged that there was a problem. It went in to have the gearbox and transmission changed due to oil leaking between the two. Got it back, guess what, still happening and was told "oh it needs to settle down" ! I might be a female but I am not stupid. Lo and behold a second recall for the...Read more

To cut a long story short and i enjoy servicing my cars myself i change the oil after 10k since the last service and all problems gone engine runs heaps better smoother quite and little to no vibration and 8.5lts per 100k down to 6.4 the oil i used was Castrol edge 5w30 A3/B4 it made a world of difference. i don't care what Ford say 15k service is to far apart after 2...Read more

I brought this car brand new hoping I would have a decent car to do me through. Well ever since the first service I have complain about the shuddering and not changing gears correctly. They kept saying it's been in the machine and there is nothing wrong with it, must be the way I drive it. Took it back after I got the recall letter and still nothing. took it for a drive and said its not changing gears right. Well hello I've been saying that for 3 years. Ended up changing the module in the transmission and new clutch plus a new battery which I was charge for if it wasn't for that rest of the crap the battery would have been fine, but I was charge 210.00 for a battery I could have gotten for 160.00. Not happy with the service or Ford if I could afford to sell the car I would, so sorry I got the thing should have listen to other people and brought a Toyota . I have all record of my complaints and details of everything I did and said to them as I was not silly and wrote it all done when it happen. "Excessive shruddering"
Stalled at traffic lights/intersection and was towed to dealer for repairs in Dec 2015. Was told it was "fixed" just a "computer code error" called dealer back in Jan 2016 & complained about same shrudder was assured its "normal in Ford vehicles" & dealer dismissed my concern. Contacted Ford customer service and was assigned case manager who suggested the car be taken to a dealer to get checked out. Great car in every way
Last of the LW Mk11 2015 build Sport turbo diesel automatic
Wife loves it smooth as silk to drive
Perfect car great fuel economy plenty of grunt under the bonnet. All the tech you need and what you would expect to pay in much higher price bracket. Great handling and ride comfort the diesel gearbox is a wet clutch and is different from the petrol version. Solid build with a nice thud when the doors are shut. If your after a small to medium size car don't go past this global award winning model.

Transmission problems like everyone else
Bought our 2012 Focus LW MkII Ambiente second hand from Titan Ford Dealership in Perth. We've had it since Feb 2015. In July 2015 it started to display severe shuddering/jerking and delayed acceleration at times, sometimes when we drove it it was fine, sometimes it was a danger to drive (I'm thinking it may have something to do with temperature).
We took it back to the dealer at least 3 times and over a period of 2 months. The dealer replaced the clutch and spark plugs and charged us $350. We also had to leave the car at the dealer for abou...Read more
t 3 to 4 weeks since they said parts were not available. We finally got the car back in September 2015. Now it's April 2016 the car is having the same problems and after doing some research online, I realised we've been fooled by the dealer. I will be printing off as many powershift dual clutch transmission complaints about the Ford Focus 2012 models that I can find and dumping it on the reception desk of my dealership and dare them to tell me it's my spark plugs again. Stay away from Ford powershift dual clutch transmission cars (ford focus).1 comment
Ford admits problems with powershift transmission and is ordered to payout $10m by ACCC.

Lemon
We got a ford focus trend 2012. Never again, 4 clutch replacements and went through the buy back program spent a fortune. They cannot fix the transmission problems. Between 2011 and 2015 Ford focus trends are lemons. There is history with these cars and the dealers keep selling them once bought back. Careful! Go onto Fix My Ford Focus on facebook page and see the reviews. You have to sign confidentiality agreement when you do the buy back program. Don't touch these cars. My old car is candy red EAB-517 which is about to be sold don't buy it as it has clutch problems.

Wouldn't buy a Ford Focus again.
Don't buy a Ford Focus which I purchased in 2012. Within the first 12 months I was having issues, and still am. . Now there's multiple oil leaks and the car’s only done 40 000k’s. Reception staff advised me that they have seen a lot of problems with the Focus's. Ford produces lemons, not cars.

Dud Gearbox, average service & back up from Ford
I purchased a new Focus Trend (2.0L) so called 6 spd automatic. It has been in the dealership on many occasions with shuddering, lagging performance at low revs, all the same gearbox issues that most Focus owners experience.
Maybe a class action against Ford as we have lost value as nobody will want a Focus, Ford is well aware of the problem yet still market them.

Theo, I think you'd best find a reliable auto electrician. It will probably save you a lot of time and frustration. Your local Ford dealer might be worth a quote, and remember you don't need to have it fixed there if it will be too expensive. Sorry I can't help more.
